Once upon a time in a very small village, there was a farm with a little stablewhere a donkey named Charter lived. He couldn't work like he used to because hewas getting very old. He couldn't help the farmer like he used to, so decided toleave the farm and went on his way to Bremen, a famous town with the bestmusicians and thought he could become a singer.

When he was walking along the road he bumped into a dog. He was sadbecause he was old and his owner didn't want to play with him anymore, so he left home. They decided to go to Bremen together andAnciano, that was his name, could be a singer too.

They started to walk again when they heard someone crying. It was a cat,called Songe. She was sad because she was old and fat and nobody lovedher any more. Charter and Anciano invited her to go with them toBremen. She could also sing.

They walked towards a farm, where they could hear a rooster, who was making a lot ofnoise. He was very nervous because he had heard the lady of the house telling herhusband that they were going to put him in the soup. He asked where they where goingand if he could go with them. So he did. His name was Belemente Chanticleer.

It was getting dark and Bremen was still far away. They could see lightsthat belonged to a farm. They thought that they could sing to the farmer andhis wife with their lovely voices so they would give them supper. But whenthey got to the window they realized that the people having supper wererobbers.

So they planned to scare them away. Anciano got on top of Charter's back,Songe on top of Anciano and Belemente Chanticleer on top of Songe's headand their plan was to scream and make a lot of noise. The robbers thoughtthat they were ghosts and ran out of the house.

The four friends sat at the table and enjoyed their supper, after that theyall looked for a little cozy place and went to sleep

The robbers wanted to find out what had made all that noise so they sent oneof the group back to the house and check. When he got inside it was very dark,until he saw Songe's shiny eyes in the dark. She scratched him and scared him,Anciano bit his leg, Charter kicked him and Belemente Chanticleer started tosing and scared him and all his group.

Charter, Anciano, Songe and Belemente Chanticleer became verygood friends, and the four friends stayed in that house and livedhappily ever after.
