• Invitation• Define "The whole population " • Find a way to implement that definition• The case in Iceland

• Every person gets a unique id at birth or immigration

• This id is stored and is accessible in the National Register.

• Simple and efficcient for screening (and other public functions such as elections e.t.c)

• Iceland: 103.000 km2 population 330.000

• Polland: 312.000 km2 population 38.500.000



• In addition there are two issues that must be in order to be able to perform good screening• A well implemented IT system for the whole

screening process, from invitation to screening results, that are sent to the clients.

• Qualified and well trained staff

• Good IT system for the whole screening process• Implement an IT system for invitations,

screening data and dataprocessing• The case in Iceland

• ICS has its own IT system SKRÍN• [Pronounded as screen. Means a juwelery box in Icelandic] • Clinics outside ICS have access to a website

to register sample data to the database• This website also shows the screening

history of the individual

• The case in Iceland – now and in the future• The Skrín has been used at ICS for 10 years• ICS is now implementing a new web

solutuion for colon screening, based on the principles I have just described.• A good cooperation and valuable

information from colon screening in Britain have helped us a lot

• If successful, the Skrín will also be imple-mented as a web solution sooner or later.

• A good staff is a key factor for successfulscreening operation.• Education• Training• Experience• Job satisfaction etc.

Staff



• Screening in it self is not a complicated processbut the primary factors I have just describedmust be taken into account and implemented.

• At last we hope that our cooperation will benefitboth sides in the future.
