Even better productivity

Connection to machine translation

• New: SDL Passolo 2015 features full connectivity with SDL’s new subscription-based machine translation (MT) offering within the SDL Language Cloud. Access the SDL Language Cloud to get easy access to industry-specific machine translation engines as well as personal dictionaries directly from within the SDL Passolo user interface. It’s a great way for translators to leverage secure, high-quality machine translations for their post-editing needs in Passolo. Users can access SDL Language Cloud MT services by using their SDL My Account credentials or an API key for shared access to the same engines.

• New: SDL Passolo can also connect to Microsoft Bing Translator and Google Translate (with some enhancements for Chinese language support), providing customers with a rich choice for their preferred machine translation provider.

Rich support for terminology

Experience better integration with SDL MultiTerm, allowing for more controlled access to terminology stored in SDL MultiTerm termbases. Both SDL MultiTerm 2011 and 2014 are supported by the same add-in. The improved integration with MultiTerm brings the following features:

• New: Ability to identify preferred and forbidden terms. SDL Passolo 2015 can now indicate preferred and forbidden terms, ensuring that translators will always use the preferred terminology and avoid problematic terms in their translation. Users can do that by simply configuring the attribute fields in SDL MultiTerm and Passolo.

• New: A new quality check that will flag when translators use forbidden terms. This quality check can be customized by configuring the corresponding attribute field.

• New: Customize the term display in the terminology window. Any fields (such as gender, status, type, and customer) can be displayed next to the known terms so that translators can view essential information before inserting term translations.

Small improvements matter

There are a number of smaller productivity enhancements in Passolo 2015 we have implemented based on customer feedback.

• New: An updated version of the built-in integrated development environment (IDE) for macro creation. The macro language stays the same so there are no incompatibilities or migration issues.

• Enhanced: Custom text can be now edited in the Properties text boxes on wrapped lines. This functionality enables you to work with long comment texts more easily. Prior to this update, the text was displayed on one line making it difficult to read - now with word wrapping, review and editing is much easier.

• Enhanced: Users can now customize access key indicators; this is no longer limited to the classic indicators “&” or “_”, giving users more flexibility for custom formats which sometimes use non-standard indicators.”

• Enhanced: The resource tree now contains a Copy command to copy the title of a file or the ID of a resource to the clipboard.
