And remember that Ibrahim was tried by his Lord with certain commands, which he fulfilled: he said: "I will make you an Imam to Mankind." He pleaded: "And also from my offspring!" He answered: "But My Promise is not within the reach of evil-doers."

     67. Ibrahim was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a true Muslim and he was not of the disbelievers (Al-Mushrikun)     68. Verily, among mankind who have the best claim to Ibrahim (the nearest of kin to Ibrahim) are those who followed him, and this Prophet (Muhammad وسلم عليه الله (صلىand those who have believed (Muslims). And Allah is the Protector and Helper of the believers.

And (remember) when Ibrahim said to his father Azar: "Do you take idols as gods? Verily, I see you and your people in manifest error."Thus did we show Ibrahim the kingdom of the heavens and the earth that he be one of those who have Faith with certainty. When the night covered him over with darkness he saw a star. He said: "This is my lord." But when it set, he said: "I like not those that set."When he saw the moon rising up, he said: "This is my lord." But when it set, he said: "Unless my Lord guides me, I shall surely be among the people who went astray."When he saw the sun rising up, he said: "This is my lord. This is greater." But when it set, he said: "O my people! I am indeed free from all that you join as partners (in worship with Allah).Verily, I have turned my face towards Him Who has

created the heavens and the earth , “Hanif” on the straight path and I am not of the disbelievers.

And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?"They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted."He said: "Do they hear you, when you call on them?"Or do they benefit you or do they harm you?"They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so."He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping "You and your ancient fathers?"Verily they are enemies to me, save the Lord of the Worlds"Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me."And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink."And when I am ill, it is He who cures me."And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again)."And Who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the Day of Resurrection.

And mention in the Book Ibrahim. Verily he was a man of truth, a Prophet. When he said to his father: "O my father! Why do you worship that which hears not, sees not and cannot avail you in anything?"O my father! Verily there has come to me of the knowledge that which came not unto you. So follow me, I will guide you to the Straight Path."O my father! Worship not Satan. Verily Satan has been a rebel against the Most Gracious."O my father! Verily I fear lest a torment from the Most Gracious should overtake you, so that you become a companion of Satan.

Verily, those whom you worship besides Allah have no power to give you provision: so seek your provision from Allah (Alone), and worship Him (Alone), and be grateful to Him. They said: "Have you brought us the truth, or are you one of those who play about?"He said: "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and to that I am one of the witnesses."And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs."

Then did he cast a glance at the Stars, And he said, "I am indeed sick!" So they turned away from him, and departed. Then did he turn to their gods and said, "Will you not eat (Of the offerings before you)?. "What is the matter with you that you speak not?" Then did he turn upon them, striking (them) with the right hand.

Facing the Tyrant: Nimrod

Have you not looked at him who disputed with Ibrahim about his Lord (Allah), because Allah had given him the kingdom? When Ibrahim said (to him): "My Lord (Allah) is He Who gives life and causes death." He said, "I give life and cause death." Ibrahim said, "Verily! Allah brings the sun from the east; then bring it you from the west." So the disbeliever was utterly defeated. And Allah guides not the people, who are wrong-doers.

Separation from Paganism & Evil

Indeed there has been an excellent example for you in Ibrahim and those with him, when they said to their people: "Verily, we are free from you and whatever you worship besides Allah: we have rejected you, and there has started between us and you hostility and hatred for ever until you believe in Allah Alone" except the saying of Ibrahim to his father: "Verily, I will ask forgiveness (from Allah) for you, but I have no power to do anything for you before Allah” Our Lord! In You alone we put our trust, and to You alone we turn in repentance, and to You alone is our final Return.

Separation from Paganism & Evil

You will not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, having a friendly alliance with those who oppose Allah and His Messenger even though they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred (people). For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with true guidance from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens of Paradise under which rivers flow to dwell therein forever. Allah is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allah. Verily, it is the Party of Allah that will be the successful.

Ibrahim and SarahAbraham did not tell a lie except on three occasion. Twice for the Sake of Allah when he said, "I am sick," and he said, "(I have not done this but) the big idol has done it." The (third was) that while Abraham and Sarah (his wife) were going (on a journey) they passed by (the territory of) a tyrant. Someone said to the tyrant, "This man (i.e. Abraham) is accompanied by a very charming lady." So, he sent for Abraham and asked him about Sarah saying, "Who is this lady?" Abraham said, "She is my sister." Abraham went to Sarah and said, "O Sarah! There are no believers on the surface of the earth except you and I. This man asked me about you and I have told him that you are my sister, so don't contradict my statement." The tyrant then called Sarah and when she went to him, he tried to take hold of her with his hand, but (his hand got stiff and) he was confounded. He asked Sarah. "Pray to Allah for me, and I shall not harm you." So Sarah asked Allah to cure him and he got cured. He tried to take hold of her for the second time, but (his hand got as stiff as or stiffer than before and) was more confounded. He again requested Sarah, "Pray to Allah for me, and I will not harm you." Sarah asked Allah again and he became alright. He then called one of his guards (who had brought her) and said, "You have not brought me a human being but have brought me a devil." The tyrant then gave Hajar as a girl-servant to Sarah. Sarah came back (to Abraham) while he was praying. Abraham, gesturing with his hand, asked, "What has happened?" She replied, "Allah has spoiled the evil plot of the infidel (or immoral person) and gave me Hajar for service." (Abu Huraira then addressed his listeners saying, "That (Hajar) was your mother, O Bani Ma-is-Sama (i.e. the Arabs, the descendants of Ishmael, Hajar's son)." Bukhari
