IAS Fellowship Award
Objectives
Improve skills and knowledge in the field of cardiovascular disease. Learn new research techniques in the field of cardiovascular disease. Implement new techniques or initiate new programs in atherosclerosis and
cardiovascular disease in home country.

January 29, 2016
Eligibility
Member of a constituent society of the IAS. Actively engaged in research in the field of cardiovascular disease. Individuals only. MD/PhD or equivalent degree required. Age 40 or less.

3-Month Visiting Fellowship Award: $5,000 6-Month Visiting Fellowship Award: $8,000
Selection procedure
Made by the IAS Fellowship Review Committee. 1-2 candidates for the 3-Month Visiting Fellowship Award or the 6-Month Visiting Fellowship Award.
Applicant Responsibilities
Application form (IAS on-line). CV (include listing of publications). Outline of project objectives (not to exceed 2 pages). Changes the fellowship will produce for your career and for the research program
in your home laboratory. Letter of acceptance from the host laboratory. Letter of approval from candidate’s current supervisor. Letter from the president or secretary of constituent society of which you are a
member certifying your membership. Reprints of up to five (5) of your most recently published articles in English. Photograph. Proof of age (40 or less).
At the end of the fellowship, the award winner must submit a final report of up to 5 pages to the IAS. This report will be posted on the web site and carried in the e-Newsletter

Description
Submit an application if you are a researcher from outside Germany with above average qualifications, at the beginning of your academic career and only completed your doctorate in the last four years.
The award allows you to carry out long-term research (6-24 months) in Germany. Applicants choose their own topic of research and their academic host. Scientists and scholars of all nationalities and disciplines may apply to the Alexander
von Humboldt Foundation directly at any time. The Humboldt Foundation grants approximately 500 Humboldt Research
Fellowships for postdoctoral researchers and experienced researchers annually.
Application requirements
Ph.D. Academic publications. Detailed expert’s statement by an academic host in Germany. Expert reviews. A good knowledge of English.
Benefits
A competitive monthly salary. Lump sum for the fellow’s travel expenses if the costs are not borne by a third
party. Language fellowship for an intensive language course lasting two to four months. Family allowances. Additional extension of the fellowship up to 12 months. A subsidy towards research costs to be paid to the hosts in Germany. Europe allowance for a research stay at a research institute in another European
country. Extensive alumni sponsorship.
