Uvod

Cilj ovog rada je da statističkom analizom obradi i oceni osnovne parametre vezane za visinu igrača na NBA draftu. Svake godine američko udruženje profesionalnih igrača košarke (NBA) uključuje nove igrače putem specifičnog postupka koji se zove NBA draft. Draft ima samo 60 slobodnih pozicija koje se popunjavaju igračima obično sa fakulteta ili srednje škole. Igrači se rangiraju po svojim kvalitetima i formira se zvanična draft lista. Specifičnim postupkom timovi biraju igrače. Postoji čitav niz karakteristika po kojima se igrači ocenjuju, a pošto je u pitanju profesionalna košarka, gde su visoki potencijalni profiti, sve te karakteristike se detaljno prate. Za ovaj rad je interesantna jedna vrsta podataka, visina igrača. Zdravorazumska pretpostavka je da je neophodno da osoba, pored ostalih kvaliteta ima i odgovarajuću visinu. Međutim postavlja se pitanje koliko je to ključan faktor. Ovaj rad nastoji da ispita osnovne statističke parametre vezane za visinu igrača, da ispita da li se prosečna visina igrača povećava ili smanjuje iz godine u godinu, kao i koliko visina igača igra ulogu prilikom pozicioniranja na draftu. Potencijalni igrači su veoma motivisani da se nadmeću za što višu poziciju na draftu, jer prvih nekoliko mesta garantuje profesionalni ugovor sa izuzetno visokom kompenzaciom. Sve statističke analize su vršene pomoću programa SPSS verzija 17. Uz ovaj rad ide i CD sa neobrađenim podacima, kao i sa odgovarajućim SPSS fajlom. Struktura rada: nakon uvodnog dela, navode se osnovni podaci na kojima je bazirana analiza sa odgovarajućim napomenama. Sledeći segment podrazumeva rezultate analize sa komentarima dobijenih podataka. Rad se završava zaključkom, gde su sumirani na jednom mestu svi dobijeni statistički pokazatelji.

Neobrađeni podaci Postoji pravo bogastvo podataka o NBA igračima, kao i veliki broj sajtova koji brižljivo sortiraju i čuvaju te podatke. Za potrebe ovog rada konkretne visine igrača, njihova imena i dobijeni rang na draft listi su preuzeti i međusobno upoređeni radi potvrde tačnosti sa nekoliko sajtova: www.nba.com, www.draftexpress.com, www.wikipedia.com. Podaci su dati u vidu 11 tabela, za svaku godinu analizirnog drafta po jedna. U svakoj od tabela ima po 60 igrača. Postoji nekoliko slučajeva kada su polja ostala nepopunjena ili broj igrača u tabeli nije svih 60, te anomalije su rezultat primenjenih pravila drafta koja su vezana za regulative NBA i nisu relevatne za ovaj rad.

Osnovna deskriptivna analiza govori da je broj analiziranih podataka 649. Najmanji igrač je

visok samo 175,59 cm, što je samo po sebi značajan podatak, jer govori da ne morate da imate nadprosečnu visinu da biste bili primljeni u najbolju košarkašku ligu na svetu. Najviši igrač ima visinu od 229,23cm. Prosečna visina svih igrača koju su draftovani u NBA između 2000. i 2010. godine je 201,69cm, sa standardnom devijacijom 9,15cm. Analiza simetričnosti rasporeda govori da je raspored približno simetričan (gruba mera 2 x Std.Greška < Statistike koja meri simetričnost rasporeda), što se može potvrditi i sa navedenog histograma.

Vidimo da je raspored približno normalan, međutim Kolmogorov-Smirnov test pokazuje da je raspored visina igrača ipak nema normalan raspored. (Asymp.Sig < 0.05 H1:Raspored nije normalan).

Prosečna visina igrača draftovanih od NBA-a u periodu od 2000. do 2010. godine. je 201,69cm, ali postavlja se pitanje da li prosečna varira među godinama. Odgovor na to pitanje daje boks-plot. Vidimo da su rasporedi frekvencija visina igrača dosta slični. Naravno razlike postoje, ali većina rasporeda se koncentriše oko aritmetičke sredine od 201,69cm.

Boks-plot, takođe akcentira podatke koji značajno odskaču od rasporeda kojim pripadaju i vidimo da je to relativno mali broj u odnosu na ukupni broj podataka. Jedno od pitanja na koje ovaj rad želi da odgovori da li se prosečna visina igrača povećava ili smanjuje iz godine u godinu. Razlike postoje, ali da li su te razlike statistički značajne, odgovor dobijamo ANOVA testiranjem. Uslovi za izvođenje ANOVE su zadovoljeni jer su uzorci, koji se porede iste ili približne veličine.

Vidimo da je vrednost F statistike 1,685 sa signifikantnošću od 0.080 > 0.05, znači zadovoljen je uslov za H0: Nema statistički značajne razlike među poređenim grupama. Tako da je ANOVA potvrdila da visina igrača se statističi značajno ni povećava ni smanjuje iz godine u godinu. Drugo pitanje, koje ovaj rad hoće da odgovori jeste da li postoji veza između visine igrača i njegovog ranga na draftu, odnosno da li je visina faktor koji značajno utiče na rangiranje igrača. Uopšteni odgovor je Da, jer je prosečna visina košarkaškog igrača daleko veća od prosečne visine muškarca sličnih godina u opštoj populaciji. Međutim to ne znači da veća visina garantuje bolji rang. Korak ka odgovoru na ovo pitanje pruža boks-plot visina igrača poređanih po rangu.

Odokativnom metodom možemo videti na nema dominantnog trenda, odnosno boks-plot pokazuje da se visine među igračima značajno ne razlikuju prema rangu. Kako bi dobili potvrdu iznesene pretpostavke ponovo je izvršena ANOVA analiza.

Vidimo da je vrednost F statistike 0,905 sa signifikantnošću od 0.677 > 0.05, znači zadovoljen je uslov za H0: Nema statistički značajne razlike među poređenim grupama. Tako da je ANOVA potvrdila da visina igrača se statističi značajno ne razlikuje poređeno u zavisnosti od ranga.

Iznesena potvrda se vidi i na boks-plotu koji obuhvata raspored visina samo prvih 10 ranigirnih na draftovima. Na grafikonu su naznačene aritmetička sredina ukupnog skupa od 201,69cm, kao i medijana 203,31cm. Ni jedan od rasporeda visina rangiranih igrača ne odskače značajno od proseka.

Jedan vid još rigoroznijeg testiranja tvrdnje da nema statistički značane veze između ranga i visine igrača jeste ANOVA testiranje za prvi, trideseti i šezdeseti rang. Ako visina zaista utiče na rang, onda bi se očeivalo da postoje statistički značajne razlike među ovim rangovima. Međutim, rezultat je isti. 9

Vidimo da je vrednost F statistike 2,905 sa signifikantnošću od 0.073 > 0.05, znači zadovoljen je uslov za H0: Nema statistički značajne razlike među poređenim grupama. Signifikantnost je u ovom slučaju bliža graničnoj vrednosti, ali i dalje ispod zahtevanog praga. ANOVA je ponovo potvrdila nepostojanje statistički značajne razlike između grupa. Mada je ANOVA dala nedvosmislene rezultate, radi dalje porvrde možemo predpostaviti da među grupama postoji veza i meriti koeficijent povezanosti. Dole navedene tabele govore da je koeficijent opšte povezanosti, kao i koeficijent linearne povezanosti tako niske vrednosti da je u stanju da objasni veoma mali deo postojećih podataka. Odnosno, rang igrača, kao i godina drafta su toliko uspešni kao faktori determinisanja pojave visine igrača da varijacije u vrednosti navedenih faktora, mogu da objasne veoma mali deo observirane pojave.

Zaključak Statistička analiza je dala nedvosmislene podatke. Ukupni broj analiziranih podataka je 649, raspodeljenih u 11 godina (2000. – 2010.). Prosečna visina svih igrača je 201,69cm, a medijana je 203,31cm. Iz priloženog histograma mogli smo da vidimo da je raspored približno normalan i da je približno simetričan. Mada je Kolmogorov-Smirnov test ipak potvrdio da raspored nije normalan. Nardeni deo rada se odnosio na eventualnu povezanost godine drafta i ranga drafta sa visninom igrača. Analiza je nedvosmisleno pokazala da ne postoji veza između godina ranga i visine igrača, tako da se visina igrača iz godine u godinu ni ne smanjuje ni ne povećava. Slični rezultati su dobijeni i za rang igrača. Rang igrača je veoma loš faktor deskripcije i predikcije visine igrača. ANOVA testiranje je pokazalo da ne postoji statistički značajna razlika među testiranim grupama, odnosno da se rang igrača ne menja u zavisnoti od visine igrača. Dalja, rigoroznija testiranja su ponovo potvrdila dobijene rezultate, pa znamo da ne postoji povezanost ranga i visine igrača gledajući samo igrače koji su klasifikovani u prvih deset po rangu. Čak ne postoji povezanost između ranga i visine gledajući za igrače koji su klasifikovani kao 1 – 30 – 60 rang. Navedene tvrdnje detaljnije utemenjene izvršenim testiranjem mera povezanosti, koje su pokazale da faktor ranga i faktor godine drafta mogu da determinišu veoma mali deo od ukupnih podataka vezanih za visinu, tako da se ne mogu koristiti kao faktor determinisanja navedene pojave, Ovaj rad pruža dodatne informacije u sledećem poglavlju.
