Win-Win Situation
MEANING
•The roots of the word collaboration, namely
Co & Laborare = “work together.”
That means the interaction among two or more
individuals, which can encompass a variety of
actions such as communication, information sharing,
coordination, and negotiation.
8.Quality Improvement
• Quality improvement is an approach to practice that measures variance in ideal and actual care, and implements strategies to close the gap.
• Nurses should use quality improvement tools, to seek evidence and measure care outcomes, and benchmark data to assess current practice.
• The ethical responsibility of quality improvement includes commitment to provide the best care for the patients and their families

9.Safety • Safety is the effort to minimize the risk of the
harm to patients and providers through both system effectiveness and individual performance.
• Competency in safety is based on constantly asking ……
how actions affect patient risk,
where the next error is likely to occur, and what action to prevent near misses.
10.Evidence-based nursing practice
• Since safety is foundational to quality, one way to define quality is providing “the right
care, at the right time, for the right person, in the right way.”…..This is EBNP.
Evidence-Based Practice
1.Evidence-triggered
3.Evidence-observed
2.Evidence-supported
4.Evidence-based
(From Center for Advanced Nursing Practice, 2000) 35
Use “Simple” framework as an Evidence-Triggered for nursing phenomena of interest
• S ….. Safe surgery
• I ….. Infection control
• M …. Medication safety
• P……. Patient Care Process
• L ……. Line, tube, catheter
• E ……. Emergency response
Finding evidence to develop CNPG to improve outcomes
EBNP (Evidence-Based Nursing Practice)
A way to implement processes and evaluate outcomes is through use of an EBP Model
