..it is often more important to
know the extent of the
alterations in the
biomechanics than to know a
specific anatomy-based
diagnosis…... the anatomic
“diagnosis” of impingement
does not convey enough
information to allow a
successful rehabilitation
program, as impingement is a
clinical sign or symptom
associated with many tissue
alterations that may create the
impingement syndrome….

LE DISFUNZIONI DI
CAVIGLIA
INFLUENZANO
L’ANCA
The most prominent age-related effects, for healthy ederly, were reduced peak ankle plantar flexor moment…..and increase peak concentric hip extensor power in the early stance, and increase peak hip flexor moment in late stance.
Discriminating age and disability effects in locomotion: neuromuscular adaptations in musculoskeletal pathology.
McGibbon and Krebs J.Appl.Physiol.2004
The results of this study demonstrate that cues to increase ankle pushoff decrease the force requirements of the hip musculature. Walking with an exaggerated ankle strategy may have therapeutic applications (hip osteoarthritis, acetabular labral tears, anterior hip pain).
Lewis C.L. and Ferris D.P: Walking with increased ankle pushoff decrease hip muscle moments. J.Biomech. 2008
Subjects with diabetes mellitus walk with a smaller ankle plantar flexion moment and larger hip flexion moment compared to age-matched controls.
Mueller et al.:Differences in the gait characteristics of patients with diabetes and peripheral neuropathy compared with age-matched controls. Phys.Ther. 1994
Unfortunately, it is often erroneously stated that a muscle delivers power to or absorbs power from only the segments to which it attaches.

STRATEGIE DI COMPENSO
DURANTE IL CAMMINO
In walking, all subjects exhibited a clear power flow from tibia to foot during most of the stance phase, indicating that the foot was following the body. During running, power flow was also mainly proximal to distal, but there were brief periods of opposite power flow.

L’anca influenza in modo determinante la catena cinetica
dell’arto inferiore in particolare nella gestione dei movimenti sul
piano trasverso e sul piano frontale
L’articolazione dell’anca può essere disfunzionale a diversi
livelli:
STRUTTURALE
FORZA MUSCOLARE
PROPRIOCEZIONE
CONTROLLO MOTORIO
CONCLUSIONI

MOLTI DEI COLLEGAMENTI CHE ABBIAMO CERCATO DI
EVIDENZIARE SONO LONTANI DALL’ESSERE CHIARITI
GLI STUDI SONO PREVALENTEMENTE CROSS SECTIONAL E
NON PERMETTONO DI EVIDENZIARE RAPPORTI DI CAUSA

CONCLUSIONI ALLA LUCE DELLE CONSIDERAZIONI FATTE
LA FUNZIONALITA’ DELL’ANCA DEVE ESSERE INDAGATA IN NUMEROSE
PATOLOGIE DELL’ARTO INFERIORE E PUR MANCANDO ANCORA MOLTE EVIDENZE
(studi prospettici e sugli uomini)
POSSIAMO RITENERE CHE UN APPROCCIO PURAMENTE SEGMENTARIO NON SIA
