W/S 16th April 2012 Organisation: Hellweek PT™ for Focus Ireland Arctic Challenge National Expedition What's Involved? The Hellweek PT "Baalsrud Challenge" will take place in October 2013, closing date for applications is May 31st 2012. The challenge will take almost 18 months to prepare for and only 50 volunteers can be chosen at the "Selection Process" to be held on June 3rd 2012 in Drogheda, Co. Louth. We need applicants to take part in the challenge: but we also need volunteers for the roles listed below. More information at http://www.hellweekpt.com/baalsrud2.htm Role: Arctic Challenge Fundraisers (by Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Skiing, Orienteering) Where: Drogheda – A brief assessment of your fitness levels, aptitude and a short interview When: 18 months commitment Role: Expedition Leaders for Focus Ireland Arctic Challenge National Expedition Role: Press Officer for Focus Ireland Arctic Challenge National Expedition Role: Treasurers for Arctic Challenge National Expedition in aid of Focus Ireland Role: Trustees for Arctic Challenge National Expedition in aid of Focus Ireland Role: Marketing & Promotions for Focus Ireland Arctic Challenge National Expedition Role: Web design / Admin for Focus Ireland Arctic Challenge National Expedition Role: Fundraising Team for Focus Ireland Arctic Challenge National Expedition Role: Secretary for Focus Ireland Arctic Challenge National Expedition Where: Volunteers can be managed via Skype meetings When: From June 3 rd 2012 for 18 months commitment Role: Selling badges on behalf of the RNLI / RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) Ireland What's Involved? Selling badges. Where: City Centre When: 8am to 10am and 4pm to 6pm on the 1st of May Role: Annual National Fundraising Day / Special Olympics Ireland What's Involved? The aim is to raise 1 million in one day to help us sustain our program of sport for 11,057 athletes Where: Nationwide When: Friday 27 th April Role: Mater Foundation Hospital Foyer Volunteer / The Mater Foundation What's Involved? Promoting all fundraising and communications events by manning a desk in the main foyer of the Hospital. Assisting with merchandise, being a representative for the Mater Foundation. Where: The Mater Hospital When: You can commit to as many hours as may suit you between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday Role: Volunteering Steward / Arthritis Ireland What's Involved? Sponsored charity walk in the Phoenix Park. Steward's Role to offer directions / Information Where: Phoenix Park, Dublin 8 When: Sat 5th May 9.301.30 Role: Sports Day Helper / Kidz Klub (C.O.R.E.) Church What's Involved? Supervising groups of kids participating in a sports day, help with lunch and take a trip to the beach afterwards. Help with awards ceremony after the beach for the kids in Sunshine House in Balbriggan. Travel on the double decker bus from St. Catherines' Church on Thomas St ( across the road from Lidl). It's a great day, lots of fun to be had with 40 50 inner city kids, this is a real treat for them. Where: Balbriggan, Co. Dublin When: Saturday 12th of May. 9.306.30 Role: Volunteer Building Surveyor / Miss Carr's Childrens Services What's Involved? Survey the building and advise us of what we will need to do to over the next few years to keep it up to standard. We then hope to draw up a list of repairs and spread the cost over a few years as our budgets are very tight. Where: Dublin 6 When: Onetwo hours flexible to the volunteers needs Role: Sally's Bridge National Volunteering Week Canal Clean Up / The Grand Canal Clean Up Group What's Involved? This clean up group cover from Dolphins Barn Bridge to Sallys Bridge. We provide litter pickers and gloves and we have arranged for DCC to pick up the litter afterwards.
