01 Introduction

Quality since 1979The SKAN HOLZ Company has produced high-quality leisure retreats, holiday homes, individual log cabins and holiday facilities for over 30 years.

This product folder includes our range of holiday homes and associated bungalow concepts.

An old tradition preservedLog cabins have been produced in Europe for many centuries and are therefore a proven and economical design for holiday homes. A service life of 80–100 years is not uncommon for a log cabin. The oldest log cabins in Europe are around 500 years old.We only use softwood from Northern Europe for our log cabins. Traditionally, slow growing Nordic spruce (Picea abies) is used to build log cabins in Europe. Spruce is a white wood characte-rised by stability, good processing properties and a low level of branch and resin formation.

Hi-tech design and production as well as a customised designWe use specially developed CAD programmes for the design of our log cabins. At the beginning of the production process our wood is analysed and optimised by a laser scanner. Detected bad timber parts are cut out by an automatic cross-cut saw. Further up the wooden parts are glued together with a finger jointing profile. This guarantees a stable quality and higher stability of the wooden parts.Log cabins are produced with modern CNC controlled wood-working machines from European market leaders. We only produce in our own European factories to ensure quality, punctual deliveries and full management control. Product development, design and quality standards are undertaken by our company headquarters in Germany.

Solid constructionOur log cabins are manufactured from 45 mm and 70 mm thick

wooden logs using the classic and stable “interlocking“ system. All our log cabins have flexible wind bracing for storm pro-tection using metal rods and

tongues that are embedded invisibly in the logs. Logs with a thickness of 45 mm have a double groove while log cabins with a thickness of 70 mm have a triple groove.

For our 45plus and 70plus series, we use the proven chalet corner connection.

01 Introduction

This corner connection can be recognised by a milling offset that creates an asymmetric connection and thus makes the corner particularly windproof and waterproof.

A variety of optionsWe offer three series (Davos, 45plus and 70plus) of holiday homes. The Davos series is the most cost-effective with an entry-level price. The 45plus and 70plus series are high-quality holiday ho-mes that have superior construction stability, wall thicknesses and many other features. Many climatic and topographic conditions have also been taken into consideration. The fl oor boards, walls and roof can be insulated. Insulated glazing for the windows and doors is

standard for houses from the 45plus and 70plus series. High roof loads for pantiled

roofs and snow loads in mountain regi-ons are also possible as well as the use of large canopies for locations at high temperatures.

Quick and effi cient assemblyLog cabins are characterised by a wide range of applications as well as simple and quick assembly. For each kit, there are detailed assembly instructions with numbe-red item lists. We also provide a video for assembling a holiday home.

exported and sold worldwide. We have many years of experience in loading containers and shipping overseas. We offer many years of experience in log cabin production, high quality, safe handling and delivery time planning.

Components for one-storey or two-storey residential buildings with less than 2 residential units are not subject to a fire protection class in Germany. The fire protection class of a component specifies how long this compo-nent can maintain its function in a fire (for example: F 30 = 30 minutes).The relevant purpose of the fire protection class is the time that remains to rescue people or evacuate the building in the event of a fire.

Earthquake protection DIN 4149

As seismicity is low in Germany, a mathematical earthquake certificate in all German earthquake zones (1 to 3) for a max. of 2 full stories can be dispensed with. For this reason, a certificate acc. to DIN 4149 can be omitted for all SKAN HOLZ products.Calculations according to national regulations must be prepared for bungalows that are built in regions at risk from earthquakes.

10 Commercial processing

The commercial process to build a log cabin / holiday resort is composed by different steps and requires time. Please find the different steps with the points to remember. For each step please ask us for assistence.

Project conception and planning

Take contact with your local architect or general contractor to organize your construction and plan every detail thru. Check our technical folder to clear up all questions.

Request /offer /order /production

Send us the quotation request sheet. Our pricing is valid 60 days upon quotation.The production time for a container is around 2 days (approx 140 m2 of wood fit a 40’ container). For very large orders we will make a production and customized shipping plan upon our capacity and your needs together.

Loading /shipment /delivery /unloading

We sell Ex-works factory, we can provide on request transportation costs and support you for the full delivery to your door with our partner transport company. Please remember that all our boxes are loaded into sea containers and that you will need special machines to unload the goods such as a forklift with long teeth.

Payment / freight /custom clearance

Payment is usually 3 % in advance and negotiable on long term business relationship. As soon as you confirm an order, we require a 30 % down payment and the rest before delivery. We can guide you with our forwarder and support you for your custom clearance.

Raise up / formation

We will provide you before you receive your goods with foundation plans so that you can start the primary work in your country such as the concrete base, etc…Once you have received the goods, we can upon request come and teach your staff how to raise up the first houses (price upon request).
