Why a CB&I Hydropillar Elevated Tank?

Combining the support strength and multi-purpose inside

space provided by a large diameter support pillar, the

Hydropillar elevated tank is one o the most popular and

attractive styles o elevated water storage tanks.

CB&I invented the original Hydropillar tank design in 1962

and has been improving the concept ever since. We have

built more uted column elevated tanks than any other

company, including the tallest and largest capacity tanks

in service. CB&Is unique dome roo design eliminates

ponding, which improves paint durability and reduces

streaking on the side o the tank. The sel-supporting dome

roo also minimizes interior structural supports in the

vapor area o the tank where condensation occurs. Since

this is the most corrosion-prone area in the tank, uture

    maintenance requirements are reduced.

The Hydropillar tank design ofers a high degree o

customization and exibility. The space inside the pillar

can be used in a wide variety o innovative ways, or it can

be reserved or uture expansion. Many sizes, options and

eatures are available or Hydropillar tanks, which provide

storage capacities ranging rom 200,000 gallons to more

than 4,000,000 gallons. In smaller capacities an optional

wineglass style ofers additional attractive and creative

    applications.

Hydropillar tanks are all-steel, all-welded structures that

have proven reliability, serving municipalities and industries

or decades. The vertical steel utes accentuate the clean,

modern design. The large diameter steel pillar also ofers

excellent stifness to earthquake loads, superior suitability

or low load-bearing soil, and unobstructed access or

exterior inspection and maintenance. Properly maintained

and operated, steel tanks ofer an extremely long lie, with

some structures exceeding 100 years o service.

Since the construction o our frst elevated tank in

1894, CB&I has become a global leader in the design

and construction o elevated water storage tanks.

We pioneered the transition to welded steel tanks

in the 1930s and invented the original Hydropillar

tank in 1962. We also have been instrumental in the

development o the AWWA standards, beginning

with the frst D100 standard in 1941, continuing

today through active organization and committee

participation. On the cover: 2,000,000 gallon tank, Dublin, OH;STI/SPFA Tank o the Year
