Built into our 50 scheme will be complimentary fronts, line stunts and a multiple blitz package. We will also have the ability to play 4-3, 4-4, 6-1, 4-6, 3-3 and Nickel fronts within our defensive package.

I. HuddleA. Alignment1. The entire defense will face the sideline.2. The Nose will set the huddle 1 yard from the ball.3. The DTs and OLBs will align according to the side of the ball they play on.4. The Mike will call the signals and the Dime will align in the front row.5. The FS will also call signals. The Anchor will always align in the back row, behind the LB.6. The CBs will align according to the side of the ball they play on and will be at the end of the huddle.7. The front will bend over, hands on knees, back straight & head up.

* N USMMAM DT DTSIDELINE S WFS D A CB CB

B. Huddle Procedure1. The Nose will set the huddle and call Huddle.2. Once the defense hears Huddle there should be silence and all of the players should see our sideline as the huddle is formed3. The Anchor will give the Down & Distance.4. The Mike will give the front and the stunt (e.g. Okie Drive Tight).5. The FS will give the coverage (e.g. 6-5)6. The FS will say Ready and the team responds with Hit as they clap and break the huddle.

C. Calling Line Stunts / Complimentary Alignments1. Stunts and complimentary alignments may be called in the huddle in 2 ways:a) The Mike may predetermine the side of the stunt by saying To, meaning the side of strength or Away, meaning the side away from strength.b) The Mike may say Tight, in the huddle. Thismeans that the Mike will give direction at the LOS.4 II. At the Line Procedure

A. Declaring Strength1. The Anchor will declare strength with either an Anchor right or Anchor left call.2. When the ball is on the hash, the Anchor will align to the field.3. If a Special call is given in the huddle, the Anchor will align to the boundary if the formation dictates.4. In the MOF, the Anchor will align to the side dictated by the formation strength. The most dangerous passing threat dictates formation strength.

B. Coverage Calls1. The FS will call adjusted coverages after the offensive set is recognized. a) The other DBs, OLBs & LBs will repeat the FS call.

C. Tight Call1. Mike will always make a Tight Call. (Tight Left or Tight Right)2. When Tight is used in conjunction with a frontage stunt or a comp alignment, the Mike must give the front direction at the LOS.3. According to the opponents formation, a Gee or Haw call will be given. a) Gee moves the front right. b) Haw moves the front left.

D. OLB-DT Communication1. The OLBs will make a You or Me call to the DTs. a) Me signifies the OLB will be on the LOS (Press). b) You signifies the OLB will be off in coverage. c) The You Me call will tell the DT if he is a contain pass rusher.

E. Stem / Random1. The front will stem on the command of Move given by the Mike. a) When two fronts are called (e.g. Okie Move Even), the Mike will stem the defense by calling Move.2. When one front and/or stunt is called in the huddle, it is a Random situation for the entire defense. a) The Nose will call Ronnie for right, telling the front to align to the right of its final alignment. b) The Nose will call Louie for left, telling the front to align to the left of its final alignment. c) The Nose will call Deuce for a double eagle alignment. d) The LINEBACKERS and SECONDARY will based on their rules.3. If a Now call is given in the huddle, the defense will align in the defense called and nobody will stem.

Coverage CallsA. The Free Safety will make pass coverage call in the huddle. 1. Single digit coverage call: Play coverage vs TE strong or TE weak. 2. Double digit coverage call: Play 1st digit vs TE strong; play 2nd digit vs TE weak.Ex: Cover 6-5:Play Cover 6 vs TE strong Play Cover 5 vs TE weak.

B. The Free Safety will also have built in checks based on formation and/or game plan which may override huddle call.

II. Hash RuleA. When the ball is on the hash, the Anchor will always align to the field (unless Special is called in the huddle).

B. The Hash is the Hash. 1. The hash marks may vary game to game depending on opponent tendencies.

III. Strength RulesA. The Anchor will always declare strength and align accordingly.

B. When the ball is on the hash: The wide side of the field is considered strength (unless Special is called in the huddle).

C. When the ball is in the middle of the field: Formation determines strength. 1. The side of the formation containing the greater number of quick receivers is considered strength (a quick receiver is one that is able to stretch the defense vertically at the snap). 2. Receivers are numbered from the sideline to the Center (#1, #2, #3). 3. When there is a balanced formation (2 quick receivers to each side), the Twins side of the formation is considered strength. 4. When there is a symmetrically balanced formation (Ace or Queens), the strength will be left. a) Strength may be game-planned.

IV. One Back Rules ZoneA. When the ball is on the hash: The wide side of the field is always strength (unless Special is called in the huddle).

B. One back checks versus 4 quick receivers: **Will be game-planned** 1. Thumb Rule: a) Even Digit Coverage: Play it when in doubt check to Cover 4. b) Odd Digit Coverage: Play it when in doubt check to Cover 3. 2. Coverage check is based on width of #2 weak.

C. Trips Check 1. If we are in an Even digit coverage, check to Cover 8 (Game-Planned). 2. If we are in an Odd digit coverage, check to Cover 5 (Game-Planned).126PASS COVERAGES & ADJUSTMENTS continuedV. Coverage and Front Movements: Okie FrontA. Any time we move the front or use a complimentary alignment where one or both DTs are involved, coverage must be married to the front.

B. When the front is moved To the Anchor, we will use Even digit coverages. 1. The exceptions are Eagle, Tight, Axe and Buzzard To, which must have Odd digit coverages.C. When the front is moved Away from the Anchor, we will use Odd digit coverages. 1. The exceptions are Eagle, Tight, Axe and Buzzard Away, which must have Even digit coverages.

D. When the front is moved with Tight towards the TE, we must double-digit the coverage, using an Even number first digit and an Odd number second digit. 1. The exceptions are Eagle, Tight, Axe and Buzzard My Call, which must use an Odd-Even double-digit combination.

VI. MotionA. Zone 1. When the ball is on the hash, motion will not affect us. The only concerns are for alignment adjustment and if we have a change of strength motion there is the possibility of a coverage check. 2. In the middle of the field, motion to 1-back or any motion with 1 back in the backfield: Anchor and Free Safety will Banjo Play the side they are on.a) This may require the Anchor and Free Safety to switch responsibilities. 3. In the middle of the field, any motion with 2 backs in the backfield: Anchor and Free Safety should Banjo.a) If there is a two digit coverage call, change of strength will force the Free Safety to check to a new coverage.

B. Man to Man 1. Anytime we are in Man to Man coverage and motion occurs, we will Bump receivers between the two CBs, the Anchor and the Free Safety.a) Our basic rule is that CBs will play #1. If we get a change of strength motion involving #1, the CB will bump #1 to a Safety and will now play the new #1.b) We will not bump with LBs and/or OLBs (unless game-planned).

C. Nickel Fronts 1. We will use the same motion rules in the Pro, Blue, White and Red Fronts.

VII. One Back Rules MacA. When we are in Mac coverage and are pressuring, we will play the following rules: 1. 4 Quicks:a) Okie 1) LB Pressure: Play Defense Called. 2) Secondary Pressure: Check to Mac Safety.b) Black Front: Play Defense Called (no checks needed).127PASS COVERAGES & ADJUSTMENTS continuedOne Back Rules Mac continued: 2. VIII. No Backs EmptyA. In Okie, Black, Pro, and Bronco Fronts: If the offense comes out in, or motions to, No Backs, we will check to Lock (game-planned).

B. If there are 4 receivers on 1 side: Treat as Trips.

C. LBs and OLBs must communicate Empty, especially when the offense motions to it.

IX. No HuddleA. We will use wrist bands to expedite defensive calls versus a no huddle or hurry up offense.

X. Bronco Reciprocal Coverage RuleA. When the ball is in the middle of the field and the offense motions or shifts to strength away from the Anchor: Check to Reciprocal Coverage. 1. E.g.:Ball in the middle of the field Huddle call: Bronco Away 5Offense aligns in I Twins Left: Anchor is Left 5 LeftMotion to I Pro (Away from Anchor) Check 6 Right 2. E.g.:Ball in middle of the field Huddle call: Bronco To 6Offense aligns in I Pro Left: Anchor is Left 6 LeftMotion to I Twins (Away from Anchor) Check 5 Right

B. Rule: Bronco Away: Odd Digit checks to Even Digit (10) versus trips away from Anchor. Bronco To: Even Digit checks to Odd Digit (5) versus trips away from Anchor.

XI. Motion / Trade when BlitzingA. There is no new Anchor call if there is change of strength via motion or trade. 1. If we are in Man to Man, we Bump 2. If we are in Zone, we simply play the coverage. 3. In Black/Even: The Dime trades and we re-kick; the Anchor and Free banjo.128PASS ROUTE TERMINOLOGY1. Hitch: Quick pass to WR/Slot (0-4 yards)2.
