Laborelec hasdeveloped a specializedvibration monitoringsystem for large turbogroups. The LaborelecVibration MonitoringSystem (LVMS)includes remotemonitoring options, allowing a complete service,even from a distance, at minimal cost. Accurate measurements translated intoeffective action
When applying for or renewing your operationlicence, or when carrying out an environmentalimpact assessment study, you have to prove thatyour site meets all noise standards, both inside andoutside the building. Laborelec is officially recognizedin Belgium to carry out noise measurements. Ourexperts possess a variety of specialized measuringinstruments and software tools, that enables them torecord and quantify even the very lowest noiselevels on all critical measuring points required by lawor regulations. Our method based on frequencyanalysis filters out the sound of a specific installation
from the backgroundnoise. Only a singlemeasurement duringoperation is needed forhighly accurate results.Ingenious simulationsoftware predicts theeffect of installing anew noise source such as a power plant into anenvironment. It also allows us to simulate the effectsof remediation actions. Oil analyses provide crucial information on theageing, condition, and quality of the oil itself, and onthe condition of the machine. Laborelec providesyou with specialized analyses of electrical insulatingmaterials, including transformer oil, and of lubricatingoils of turbines, large pumps, motors, and gearboxes. Our experts can advise you on how best toextend the life of these insulating and lubricatingmaterials.
They can also detect latent electrical or mechanicaldefects in your crucial equipment through oilmonitoring or identify an incident’s root causethrough oil analysis. Energy conversion optimizedtechnically and economically
Close control of energy conversion plants is verycomplex, often involving non-linear processes. Theconception and optimization of these processes’control loop parameters is a highly specialised task.Laborelec can call upon extensive practicalknowledge to help you optimize your controlprocesses, from both a technical and an economicalpoint of view. Our experts develop, commission and
optimize control loops, test new control algorithms,optimize the design of an installation and its controlstructure. After each modification, they test thetransient phenomena again. Energy that complies with quality standardsThe electricity your plant produces must comply with variouspower quality standards before it is allowed on the publicgrid. Laborelec experts are accredited to perform specificmeasurements to assess the quality of the power youproduce. We can also install a device for permanent longterm monitoring of power quality. If the system discovers aPower Quality problem, you are instantaneously informed bySMS or email.
We also offer a service for troubleshooting. Therefore we canlog onto the monitoring system remotely, considerablyreducing analyses and reporting time. Our experts identify thecause of a disturbance and give appropriate advice to solvethe problem.
One device measureselectrical power and speedvariationsWe offer a new service with an in-house developed device, the datawave recorder (DWR). The DWRallows us to simultaneouslymeasure electronic and mechanic signals. This means wecan map the start-up curve of your machines, or for instanceload variations.
Measurements of electricalquantities must be exact.That can only beguaranteed by preciselycalibrating electrical quantitymeasuring equipment andby qualifying meteringequipment. In addition tocalibration and qualification,Laborelec also provides
consultancy on conducting measurement campaigns andestablishing proper protocols. We are an accredited laboratoryfor electrical metrology, directly affiliated with the Belgianprimary laboratory, as well as international labs in Germanyand France. We maintain the Belgian standard for the kWh.Power producers can use our services to calibrate their kWhmeters; either at their site or in our laboratory. The certificateof calibration that we issue under ISO 17025 accreditationshows the traceability to international units and may bedisplayed within the framework of an ISO 9000 certificationprocess.
PreventingelectromagneticinfluencesLaborelec assists you inavoiding or solvingmalfunctions caused byelectromagnetic sources.Power producers andengineering departments ofindustrial companies useour expertise to ensure orrestore the ability of adevice or an installation tofunction satisfactorily in its electromagnetic environment.These systems should not introduce in their environment anyelectromagnetic disturbances that might lead to inefficienciesor malfunctions. Proper earthing, grounding, and shielding aresome examples of potential corrective measures. But thebest practice is to ensure electromagnetic compatibility rightfrom the beginning. That is why Laborelec offers advice evenin the concept phase of your power generation installation.Laborelec also performs measurements to verify thatelectromagnetic fields comply with the health criteria definedby the European Parliament.
