Very good cooperation ‐ AAK and AAU• LIFE 2.0 Services ‐ result of co‐creation with citizens and staff ‐
"The project team at AAU has listened to feedback from citizens and staff"
• Staff have contributed with knowledge about the elderly, ethical and privacy aspects, has created confidence in the system, etc.
Words from the activity center Kastanjegaarden staff• It is local = easier to start and establish group• Coordinator of the activity center = gives greater confidence and
security to the system• Closed system = gives greater confidence and security to the
system• Makes sense for the seniors = Greater motivation to learn how to
use IT and use digital public services• Provides greater confidence to the seniors = "I can also use the
iPad as my children and grandchildren”

Platform use and users feedbacks
Positive outcomes:‐knowing other people through writing and regular meetings ‐‐> important aggregating function of the training sessions‐Ipad use let the elderly get more confidence with internet and digital services in general‐The service idea is good and could be very interesting for the elderly‐“Abbiamo rotto il tabù del digitale!”‐“Facciamo concorrenza ai giovani!”‐“Partecipando alla sperimentazione di Life 2.0, non abbiamo sprecato il nostro tempo”
Platform use and users feedbacks
Criticalities:‐the platform development was slow ‐‐> users could not experiment all the services‐the elderly are more active than it was assumed ‐‐> services to be adapted to their needs‐the platform should push more the use by using push notification or other solutions Proposals:‐Announcements: social function (as a blog), not mutual help‐no separation between Announcements and Event services‐need for a community manager – community provider‐highlight urgent needs/messages‐Life 2.0 platform as a “club”

Platform use and users feedbacks
Experience from the Elderly:
The Life 2.0 platform is considered to be very useful and necessary:‐ when it would be fully running in local region‐ to see events and services from one channel‐ to arrange mutual help and offering information as volunteers
The interface and the design has become enough simple and easy to use.
Group guiding sessions were initial to gain trust and confidence to use the platform, also making new fiends
Technical problems in the developing platform did affect on the use experience of the elderly, they felt like it was only testing, and did not have the change for full use.

Platform use and users feedbacks
Over all experience from the Region representatives:
The economy is tight and there will be resources only for the basic care for elderly in the future.
> Life 2.0 as one solution to offer help and activities for elderly > Possibility for collaboration between public sector, businesses and third sector to offer services and help.
> One channel for relatives to find help for their own parents/grand parents
The platform needs to be running at least in North Karelia region including many smaller cities and villages, rather spreading to other regions in Finland as well.
> Elderly travel and communicate with people and attend to activities across the region
> Summer cottages are around Finland and elderly would like to get help and find activities and services in the cottage area.

Platform use and users feedback
Experience from older users:practical use is still lacking but some good results are alreadyvisible
• Being part of something: “ to makes the platform a success we all have to commit ourselves! ”
• Socialization: “We created a very good group of friends ”• Spontaneous initiatives: volunteer Catalan group in
exchange for a coffee, Facebook tips in exchange for outdoor walks
Experience from stakeholdersPossible future scenarios:
• Joint‐collaboration between local groups to manage the platform
• Proposal to add local newsBarcelona pilot | Valeria Righi | Life 2.0 European Project | Final Workshop | 16.10.2013 Barcelona pilot | Valeria Righi | Life 2.0 European Project | Final Workshop | 16.10.2013
Platform use and users’ feedback
Direct (long‐term) involvement of users contributed to overcoming preconceptions and propose more inclusive solutions
•Stigmatization of ageing and self‐image• Who needs assistance? Man, 76 y.o. “This is not for us! This is for
very old people.”• Another use of the platform adapted to their wide range of
interests: share of knowledge (IT, languages, etc…)
•Reflect on language and risk of marginalizing• Elderly, older, ageing…?• A platform for older people? Woman, 73 y.o. “Why you say that
this is for older people. Didn’t younger people need help too? Didn’t you asked for our help when you wanted to plan your trip in Menorca?”
