ATAGO SHRINEIf you’ve overdosed on Fukuokan sun, this place offers the cure: breeze, a fabulous 180° view of the city, and the calming atmo-sphere of a Shinto shrine. Atago is not the biggest or fanciest of shrines, but it’s believed to be the oldest in Fukuoka. For those finding it hard to give up smoking and alcohol, the enshrined gods have been known to lend a helping hand. Nearby stands Iwaiya, a traditional-style tea shop decked out in tatami mats and mahogany carvings. Here they sell matcha kakigori (shaved ice mixed with matcha), the perfect sweet for beating the heat.

SAN-SUI MIZUDASHI COFFEEFinding a great cup of coffee in Fukuoka is not hard, but have you tried mizudashi coffee (Dutch coffee)? Water collected daily from the Wakasugi mountain spring is dripped over coffee grounds into 20 glass casks for between eight to ten hours, then stored overnight. This is used to make both iced and hot coffees. The painstaking process results in a smoother, more flavorsome drink, believed to be easy on the stomach. Handmade hot tuna sand-wiches, toast & salad sets, apple pie and yaki ohagi (traditional sweets) make a nice, light bite! Fresh fruit & flower smoothies are also served.

UDON WASUKEFukuoka’s claim to be the birthplace of Japanese udon noodles is subject to de-bate, but when it comes to goboten udon (udon noodles with burdock tempura), there’s no question: Fukuoka did it first, and still does it best. Udon Wasuke is a particularly popular place to try this local favorite (best avoid the noon rush). A huge 20 cm wide disk of gobo tempura covers the bowl. It takes some practice, but you use your chopsticks to break off bits of the crunchy tempura and dip them into the soup, then slurp them up with the noodles. The fibrous gobo is deep fried for each order, and has a nutty, roasted flavor. Their noodles, made with Hokkaido flour, are relatively thin yet firm, while the clear soup is light and tasty. For summer, we recommend the sappari bukkake udon: chilled noodles are colourfully garnished with grated daikon, wakame, shiso leaf, umeboshi, katsuobushi, and green onion. Beautiful dishes, full of Fukuoka flavor.

和助烏龍麵 Udon Wasuke福岡是否為日本烏龍麵的發源地雖然眾說紛紜，但可以確定的是炸牛蒡烏龍麵是發源於福岡，並且是全日本最道地美味的。 “烏龍麵和助”就是一個值得推薦大家品嘗炸牛蒡烏龍麵的地點 ( 建議您避開午餐時段 )。這裡採取現點現做的方法，將纖維豐富的牛蒡切成直徑 20 公分的薄片，炸過後片片堆疊在碗上。品嘗時可以直接享用，亦可一點一點的打碎在湯裡，搭配著由鰹魚，羅臼昆布及鯖魚熬煮出的清澈湯頭和當日用北海道產的小麥粉製做出半透明充滿嚼勁的細烏龍麵一起吃。夏季時分還提供清爽的冷麵料理 - 配上白蘿蔔，海帶，紫蘇，梅干的紫蘇醬烏龍麵。

우동 와스케죠난구 토리카이의 본점에 이은 우동 와스케 2호점. 작년 7월에 오픈했다. 홋카이도산 밀가루로 매일 반죽해 뽑아내는 얇은 면발은 탄력감이 느껴지는 식감이 특징이며 감칠맛이 느껴지는 투명한 해산물 육수와 잘 어울린다. 최고 인기 메뉴는 우엉 우동. 채를 썬 우엉을 지름 20cm 정도의 동그라미 모양으로 튀겨내 우동 위에 올려 낸다. 갓 튀겨낸 튀김은 바로 먹어도 좋고 국물에 조금씩 담가 가며 먹어도 좋다. 여름 추천 메뉴는 차가운 다시를 차가운 면에 부어 먹는 붓카케 우동. 차조기, 미역, 무 간 것 등의 재료와 튀김 등을 취향에 따라 고를 수 있다. 점심시간(12시~13시 반 경)에는 혼 잡 하 니 이 시간 대 를 피 해 서 방문 하 면 여유롭게 식사를 즐길 수 있다.

1717년 창업한 토진마치 상점가 내 제과점. 카페 코너에서 한 잔씩 말차를 내려 정성스레 만드는 우지카케 빙수를 여름에만 만나볼 수 있다.

민가 를 개 조 해 만 든 세 련 된 카 페 에 서 는 홈메이드 빵 외에도 전통적인 빙수 기계로 갈아 내린 얼음 위에 과일을 사 용해 만든 수제 시럽을 얹은 빙수가 여름 한정 메뉴로 제공된다.

In Japan, there is an age-old custom of eating eel when the heat hits. In Fukuoka, the locals know that if you

want good eel, you have to go to Yoshi-zuka. Founded in 1873, Yoshizuka Unagiya first set up shop in Yoshizuka, but now calls a riverside venue in Nakasu home. It uses a time-tested technique to gently roast its eels, which are carefully selected from farms in Shizuoka, Miyazaki and Ka-goshima. Although it offers a wide range of eel dishes, Yoshizuka has always prided itself most on its kabayaki, which comes perfectly coated in a mildly sweet sauce. Other popular items include the unagi donburi, roasted eel on a bowl of rice, and the una-ju, roasted eel with a box of rice on the side. A good kabayaki takes time, so we recommend you start with the umaki, a piece of eel wrapped in a fluffy dashimaki tamago (¥421) or the hone senbei (fried eel bones; ¥464). If you'd like to hold a party at Yoshizuka, the restaurant also has individual Japanese-style rooms available by reservation.

YOSHIZUKA UNAGIYA在日本，食用營養豐富的鰻魚是為了度過酷暑的傳統飲食習慣。然而“說到鰻魚的話就想到吉塚”。這句俗諺裡被博多人推崇的，就是 1873 年創業的「吉塚鰻魚屋」。嚴選從靜岡、宮崎、鹿兒島等地產的鰻魚，再使用世代相傳的自慢醬汁制製成美味的蒲燒鰻。如此製成的「蒲燒鰻魚蓋飯」、或是放入精緻盒中的「蒲燒鰻魚盒飯」都是店裡的人氣餐點。美味的蒲燒鰻製作是要花時間等待的，所以建議您可先從被蓬鬆的蛋捲包起來的蒲燒鰻魚蛋捲，或用鰻魚骨頭炸成的骨仙貝開始品嚐。店家也提供預約包廂 ( 房間費用 10%)，還有鰻魚作成的懷石料理也值得一試喔！

더운 여름에 체력을 보충하기 위해서 일본에서는 예로부터 영양가 높은 장어를 먹어 왔다. 후쿠오카에는 ‘장어 하면 요시즈카’라는 말이 있을 정도로 요시즈카 우나기야는 유명하다. 1873년에 요시즈카에서 문을 연 뒤 지금은 나카스 강변으로 가게를 옮겼다. 시즈오카, 미야자키, 카고시마에서 자란 엄선된 장어만을 사용해 숙달된 독자적인 기술로 육질은 부드럽게, 맛은 고소하게 구워낸다. 이곳의 대표 메뉴는 창업 이래 쭉 전해져 내려온 비법으로 만든 은은한 단맛의 양념을 발라 구워내는 카바야키. 이 카바야키를 밥 위에 얹은 장어 덮밥, 밥과 카바야키가 각기 찬합에 담겨 나오는 우나쥬, 카바야키 단품 중 원하는 방식을 골라 맛보면 된다. 장어를 더 많이 먹고 싶다면 이름 앞에 상급이나 특선이 붙은 메뉴를 고르면 된다. 장어를 굽는데 시간이 오래 걸리니 메인인 카바야키가 나오기를 기다리면서 카바야키를 부드러운 계란말이로 감싼 우마키(421엔)나 장어 뼈를 튀긴 호네센베이(464엔)로 입맛을 돋우자. 예약할 경우 개인실(방 이용료 10%) 이용도 가능하며 장어를 사용한 요리가 코스로 제공되는 카이세키 요리를 맛볼 수 있다.

MIFUNEYAMA RAKUEN ILLUMINATION FESTIVALUnder the light of 5,000 bamboo lanterns, a rainbow of carp flow on the surface of the lake, following and surrounding the boats. But these carp are not real fish. This installation by teamLab uses a state-of-the-art sensor to project an interactive animation onto the water; the first of its kind in the world.

FUKUOKA NIGHT CRUISESThis summer, Fukuoka City is operating night cruises that sail from the Hakata Port. The boats will pass by Island City, Shikanoshima, Nokonoshima, Marinoa, Seaside Momochi, and Nishi Park before returning to the dock. Customers can bring their own food and drink to enjoy a picnic in the fresh sea air.

TANABATA SHRINE SUMMER FESTIVALOn Jul. 7, lonely hearts wrote their wishes for new love on Tan-zaku (special paper strips) and sent these to Tanabata Shrine. A month later, at Ogori City’s Tanabata Summer Festival, you are invited to walk amongst these paper wishes. The stage will host live entertainment and traditional treats will be sold.

七夕神社の夏祭り

七夕神社的夏日祭典在全日本也很少見祭祀織女的七夕神社，跨越寶滿川後另一頭是祭祀牛郎的老松宮。以牛郎織女的浪漫傳說當作背景，置身在充滿著燈籠及五顏六色長條詩籤飄盪的祭典裡，欣賞舞台上的傳統表演，體驗日本文化的獨特魅力。更有特色傳統點心可以當作伴手禮。

타나바타 신사 여름 축제직녀를 모 시는 보 기 드문 신사. 강 건너편에는 견우 를 모 시는 오이마츠미야가 있어 은하수를 사이에 두고 1년에 단 한 번 칠석에만 만날 수 있는 견우와 직녀 이야기를 그대로 옮겨놓은 듯하다. 이 로맨틱함 때문인지 많은 커플들이 이곳을 찾는다고 한다.

GOKOKU SHRINE MITAMA MATSURI This festival is for giving thanks to one’s ancestors and fallen soldiers. It is lit by walls of carefully painted lanterns, all 6,000 of which are donated by the worshippers. The stage will showcase Japanese drumming, gospel singing and more. There will also be a flea market, and stalls selling yummy festival food!

28TH KANMON KAIKYO FIREWORKS1,100,000 visitors flock to this display each year, one of the biggest in Western Japan! 15,000 fireworks are launched from the strait between Shimonoseki (Yamaguchi) and Moji. Watch from the Moji side to view the fireworks set to music, or take to the Shimonoseki bank to be closer to the action.

護国神社みたままつり

第２８回関門海峡花火大会

護國神社御靈祭8/13-8/16 孟蘭盆節期間，是護國神社為了感謝神明與先人的節日。由市民奉獻的 6 千盞紙燈籠在當地的夜空中閃耀，有如夢般的空間體驗。神樂舞蹈和三味線，古琴，吉他，還有如奉獻儀式等…各種節目，還有熱鬧的商店街。享受像日本的夏天祭典吧！

第２８回關門海峡煙火大會每年有 110 萬人湧入！西日本最大煙火大會之一。 50 分鐘內從門司與下關兩處發射共 15,000 發的壯麗煙火。門司處可與音樂共樂，或到下關處更近的觀賞。除了觀看煙花之美，還可以享受雙方的海峽獨特的夜景，從沿海，從山頂，皆有不同的觀賞體驗。

고코쿠 신사 미타마 축제일본 추석 기간 중(8/13~16) 고코쿠 신사가 모시는 평화의 수호신과 선인들에 대한 감사의 마음을 담아 실시하는 축제. 시민들이 헌등한 등롱이 밤하늘을 수놓은 모습이 환상적이다. 각종 가게로 북적이는 일본의 전통적인 여름 축제를 즐겨보자.

제28회 칸몬카이쿄 불꽃 축제총 15,000발의 불꽃이 50분간 연이어 터지며 하늘을 아름답게 수놓는 유명 불꽃 축제. 110만 명이 찾는 일본 최대 규모의 불꽃 축제 중 하나이다. 해안의 야경도 함께 즐길 수 있는 관람석, 해안, 산 정상 등 다양한 장소에서 관람 가능하다.

New Cycling Rules in EffectAs of June 1, cyclists aged 14 and older who commit one of 14 violations, such as riding while intoxicated, two or more times within three years must take a rider safety course. Film Festival 25th Anniversary Pre-Event Through the years, the Focus on Asia Inter-national Film Festival Fukuoka has striven to provide local citizens with a better under-standing of Asia by showcasing outstanding Asian films. This year, the festival’s 25th anniversary, a special screening of the top citizen-requested film out of 25 carefully-selected titles will be held at 14:00 on Aug. 30 (Sat) in the Fukuoka City Public Library Movie Hall (Cinela). Watch Out for Redback SpidersMeasuring about 3~4cm including their legs, redback spiders can be identified by all-black bodies with a distinctive red stripe on the back. If you find one, do not touch it; kill it with insecticide spray. Redback spiders favor warm places near the ground where they can feed on in-sects. If you are bitten, wash the bite with warm water or soapy cold water and seek medical attention. For more information, contact the Living Environment Section at your local Ward Office.

Night ZooEvery year, the City Zoo holds Night Zoo events every Saturday of August. This year, to respond to increasing demand, Night Zoo will extend to the second Saturday of September, for a total of seven nights: Aug. 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 and Sept. 5 & 12. On Night Zoo nights, you can catch a free shuttle bus from Exit 1 of Ropponmatsu Station on the City Subway Nanakuma Line. Buses depart every 15 minutes, with the last bus back to the sta-tion leaving at 21:15.
