The BioInnovation Corridor is an initiative, in the Brunei-Muara District, led by the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) of The Government of Brunei Darussalam.
The Halal Industry Innovation Centre (HIIC), has been established to promote the development of Halal Certied Industries in Brunei Darussalam.
The BioInnovation Corridor intends to:
develop an internationally renowned Halal-themed industry park as part of the wider economic diversication strategy;
accommodate research and innovative technology applications;
build on and support the development of the Brunei Halal brand;
create a lively and mixed use environment; generation of employment opportunities.

The Masterplan for the BioInnovation Cooridor measures 466 hectares and is strategically located to the northwest of Bandar Seri Begawan, the cultural, economic and political capital of Brunei Darussalam.
Brunei Darussalam has established a number of trade agreements. In addition, Brunei Darussalam is one of the four founding Signatory Members of the Trans-Pacic Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPSEP).
Being a member of ASEAN, Brunei Darussalam also has a number of related Free Trade Agreements: AANZFTA ASEAN Australia New Zealand
Free Trade Agreement; ASEAN China Free Trade Agreement; ASEAN Japan Free Trade Agreement, and; ASEAN Korea Free Trade Agreement.

The Site Context of BioInnovation Corridor
The BioInnovation Corridor has excellent access to high quality infrastructure with dedicated access to the Tungku Link highway. Traveling time to the Brunei International Airport (BWN) is no more than 10 minutes and the Muara Container Port is no more than 30 minutes.
The BioInnovation Corridor intends to provide approximatley 30 % of land would be earmarked for industrial usage.
25 % of the land would be allocated for green space. A major botanical garden is planned to be located within the BioInnovation Corridor.
Another signicant feature is the Research & Development facilities, where in particular, the headquarters of the Halal Industry Innovation Centre (HIIC) would be the focal point.

The Master Plan Vision of BioInnovation Corridor
Sufcient Electricity at Phase 1 is provided by the Berakas Power Management Company (BPMC).
A number of tax incentives are already in place and more are expected to roll out in the future.Currently, Brunei Darussalam has: No general sales tax No personal income tax No investment gain tax Pioneer Status (for tax relief) - extension of
tax-free status (from 5 to 11 years and extendable) for companies investing in sectors with potential in Brunei Darussalam
Piped water is provided by the Department of Water Services, and sewerage is provided by the Department of Drainage and Sewerage.
The Drinking Water Quality Guideline (1993) in Brunei Darussalam follows the guideline set by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
