After most of us have sung Auld Lang Syne and

exchanged New Year Greetings to our friends and

relatives, I am sure that you will be equally excited to

welcome this momentous year as the Executive

Committee prepares a variety of events that will

hopefully be able to whet your appetite.

2017 not only marks the 20th Anniversary of the

establishment of the HKSAR, to those longstanding

members and close associates with our Institution, it

will also be the year for the 20th Joint Seminar

co-organized by CHKRI with the other 3 Mainland

Railway Societies in Beijing, Guangzhou and

Shanghai.

I am delighted to inform you that CHKRI will be

hosting this event to be held in Hong Kong from

20-22 October 2017. So please mark down in your

diary and stay tuned for more details to follow.

We shall also be holding our Annual General Meeting

soon and this year our VIP talk will be on the

Proposed Development Strategy for Lantau to be

delivered by the Director of Civil Engineering and

Development Department, Mr. LAM Sai-Hung, JP.

As usual, Spring Dinner will follow immediately after

the event for Members to mingle together after the

official proceedings.

May I take this opportunity to wish you and your

families a healthy, happy and heart-warming run up to

the Chinese New Year of the Rooster ahead!

的朋友和親戚交換了新年問候時，我相信

你將會以同樣興奮的心情去迎接重要的一

年，因為執行委員會正準備多項活動來滿

足你的期望。

2017 年不僅是香港特別行政區成立 20 週

年，對於那些長期會員和與我們密切聯繫

的機構來說，今年更是 CHKRI 與另外 3 個

分別在北京、廣州、上海的內地鐵路協會

第二十次舉辦聯合研討會的一年。

這次聯合研討會將由 CHKRI 主辦，舉辦日

期為 2017 年 10 月 20 日至 22 日，在香港

舉行。請記下這個重要的日子，並繼續留

意有關詳情。

週年大會快將舉行。今年的議題是「大嶼

山發展策略」，由土木工程拓展署署長林世

雄先生主講。

一如以往，會後將舉行春節晚宴，各會員

可以在會議結束後，互相交流。

Technical Visit :

MTR Shatin to Central Link Project : Hung

Hom Station and Stabling Sidings

Hung Hom Station is the crucial interchange station of

East Rail and West Rail Lines. Major modification of

the existing concourse and construction of new

platforms have been undertaken under the existing

station box for the new station while the existing

intercity and Customs, Immigration and Quarantine

remain unchanged.

A new stabling facility, which is comprised of 11

stabling tracks, 1 heavy cleaning track and 1

inspection track with maintenance facilities, is being

built at the East of Hung Hom Station in the area

formerly used for freight operations.

On 21 January, members visited both sites to

appreciate progress of these complicated works and the

great challenge to have such a major modification of

existing Hung Hom Station without any interference to

train services or Hong Kong Coliseum operation.

Project staff Terence Lai and Calum Auld led the

visitors to see the station concourse modifications, the

view from Hong Kong coliseum podium and

construction of the southern portal connecting East

Tsim Sha Tsui stub tunnel. They also looked at the

civil and E&M works for the stabling siding

construction and the northern portal linking to Ho Man

Tin station.

紅磡站是東鐵綫和西鐵綫的重要轉車站。為

設立新的車站，現有大堂需進行重大改動，

並建設新月台，但現有的城際客運和海關、

移民及檢疫局則維持不變。

在紅磡站以東，以前用作貨運作業的地區，

現正興建一組新的停放設施，包括 11 條停

放軌道，一條重型清潔軌道和一條設有維修

設施的檢查軌道。

於 1 月 21 日，委員會成員參觀了兩個施工

地點，以了解這些複雜工程的進展，及紅磡

站改裝工程的重大挑戰，在工程期間，不能

對列車服務或香港體育館的運作構成干擾。

負責這次工程項目的工作人員 Terence Lai 和

Calum Auld帶領委員會成員參觀了車站大堂

的改建工程，又從香港體育館平台觀看連接

尖沙咀東支墩隧道的南門。他們亦參觀了停

放側綫在土木及機電工程上的建設，及連接

何文田站的北面入口。

13th World Railway Development and

Research Society Annual Meeting

On 8-9 December 2016, CHKRI participated in the

13th World Railway Development and Research

Society Annual Meeting in Beijing.

CHKRI Chairman, Ir. S. K. Leung presented a paper

on “MTR Railway Development Plan and Hong Kong

Railway Development Strategy”and shared MTR’s

experience on further service enhancements on highly

developed railway network. The paper aroused great

interest from major metro operators in mainland

China.

在 2016 年 12 月 8-9 日，CHKRI 參加了在

北京舉辦的第 13屆世界軌道交通發展和研

究年會。

CHKRI 主席梁士琨先生發表了一篇論文題

為「港鐵鐵路發展計劃和香港鐵路發展策

略」，並分享了港鐵在高度發展的鐵路網上

進一步加強服務的經驗。這篇論文引起了

國內地鐵運營商的極大興趣。

CHKRI Committee Strategic Workshop

In order to continue the future success of the CHKRI,

the Committee will be holding a Strategic Workshop

on 25 February. Members are welcome to e-mail

CHKRI Secretary at secretary@chkri.hk with any

suggestions or initiatives for consideration by the

Committee.
