TOWN OF DAY VOTERSWe would like to clarify some accusations that were made in lastweekʼs Pennysaver/News. First of all Ronny Ladd will be High-way Superintendent for a lot longer than one year. Ronny is sixtyone years old now, and has to work until he is at least sixty fiveto qualify for medicare (as highway employees donʼt take anyhealth insurance with them when they retire). As for the $58,000 salary, we would like to see a long time em-ployee earn this money, rather than a three year laborer and flag-man for Saratoga County, who has personal friends on the Townof Day Republican Committee.Ron was Deputy Highway Superintendent for three years andhas been acting Highway Superintendent since April 1st after theretirement of our previous superintendent. As for the safety issueconcerns about the Highway Department, we believe the numberof reported accidents in the last ten years is very low. The high-way crew in town has to do everything from maintenance onequipment to maintenance on roads. They seem to be gettingthe job done just fine considering the limited budget the highwaydepartment has.We believe a vote for Ron will keep small town values in a smalltown.

Paid for by the Committee to Elect Ron Ladd

IʼM A CONCERNED TAXPAYER of the Town of Day, and myquestion is - how does our town run with two supervisors? Oneis supposedly retired but is still running the show, including back-ing and supporting one candidate for town superintendent: thejob requires knowhow and skills to run this town highway dept.,which Ron Ladd has 17 yrs. experience in doing so.

Paid for by friends of Ron Ladd

THANK YOU! To each and everyone who helped in any way inRonald Brooks celebration. Whether it was a donation, food, acard or a simple hello. Special thanks to Sylvia, Larry, Mike andPatty.

Thank you,Kay, Ronnie, Melissa & families

Glens Falls, NY- LARAC, The Lower Adirondack Arts Council,is proud to present Fragments a Fine Art Exhibition at LaphamGallery. Fragments features the artworks of Patricia Sullivan(Mount Laurel, NJ), Anne Stagg (Tallahassee,FL) and two localGlens Falls artists Liz Parsons and Nick Squadere.Fragments features a variety of contemporary artworks that dis-play different techniques and mediums including painting, jew-elry-making, collage, and installation. Many artworks in thisexhibit seek to challenge our perception of our environment orquestion how social context may influence our daily lives. AnneʼsUnintended Consequences painting series layers both abstractand representational iconography to explore different social top-ics. Patriciaʼs jewelry seeks to define how technology has con-sumed our personal lives. Nick came to Lapham Galleryʼsattention in 2012 as part of the Intercollegiate Art Competition, his collaged and textured artworks received an Honorable Men-tion Award.Special for this exhibit Liz Parsonsʼs installation Get Her WordsOut is a culmination of daily writings made into ribbon-like stripsthat will hang and fill a portion of the Lapham Gallery space. Thepublic will be invited to add their own words via a typewriter thatwill accompany the artwork. This installation hopes to promotethe importance of free expression and bring awareness to art-making as a form of therapy. The permanent installation will finda home at The East Side Center. This project is funded by theCommunity Arts Grant through NYSCA (The New York StateCouncil on the Arts), administered by LARAC.Artworks are on display until September 19th.LARAC is a not-for-profit arts organization dedicated to support-ing arts and culture throughout Warren, Washington, and North-ern Saratoga Counties by developing and sponsoring artsactivities and services. ETHANOL IS GOOD FOR AMERICA(NAPSI)—How much you pay at the pump, how much we can avoid pollution and combat cli-mate change, and how effectively we can stand up to other countries can all depend onwhether the government continues a policy thatʼs been called an unmitigated success. The Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) has reduced the United States dependence on importedpetroleum, lowered gasoline prices, created jobs and economic opportunity across America, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.A Stronger, More Energy Independent NationA recent surge in ethanol production has reduced gasoline imports from 600,000 barrels perday a decade ago to near zero today. Looked at another way, the ethanol produced in 2013displaced an amount of gasoline refined from 462 million barrels of imported crude oil. Thatʼsroughly equivalent to the amount of crude oil imported annually from Venezuela and Iraq com-bined.Lower Gas PricesEthanol is the lowest cost transportation fuel in the world. Today, it is selling for approximately90 cents less than gasoline wholesale. At the national level, that not only means ethanol isbringing down the cost of gas per gallon, it is stretching our national fuel supply. Philip K. Ver-leger, a renowned energy economist, found ethanol saved consumers $0.50 to $1.50 per gal-lon in 2012-2013. A savings of $1.00 on average which adds up to an annual savings ofapproximately $1,200 per family.Helping the EconomyThe Renewable Fuels Standard encourages investment and innovation in the biofuels indus-try. As the next generation of ethanol refineries is built, the industry will bring its job-creating,revenue-generating benefits to states across this nation, not just the traditional MidwesternCorn Belt. The ethanol industry currently supports:• 86,504 direct jobs• 300,277 indirect and induced jobs• $44 billion contribution to GDP• $30.7 billion in household income.Cleaner AirThe use of ethanol in gasoline in 2013 reduced CO2-equivalent greenhouse gas emissionsfrom transportation by 37.9 million metric tons—equivalent to removing 7.9 million cars fromthe road for an entire year. What Others Are DoingMany Americans are writing or calling their members of Congress to voice their support ofthe Renewable Fuels Standard. How to Learn MoreTo learn about the many benefits of ethanol and the Renewable Fuels Standard, visitwww.EthanolRFA.org.
