    The Divine and the Devoted is a series of PDFs ofnine religions for any fantasy campaign. Whileoriginally designed for the Mythosa setting, the

    gods and goddesses presented here can easily bedropped into other worlds.

    Using this BookThe supplements in this series provide detailsabout each of the nine major religions inMythosa.The format and nature of this information isdescribed below.

    have been given by their clergy.

    A short account of what the deity rules over.

    Symbol

    A description of the religions holy symbol.

    DescriptionDescribes how the gods worshipers depict them

    in a physical form, gives an overview of thereligions goals and purposes, and describes theotherworldy home of the deity.

    Worship

    Details who worships the deity, where themajority of worshipers are located, and whatplaces tend to be sacred to the religion.

    Temples

    Information about the temples and shrines of thereligion including their architecture and wherethey are commonly located. The location of thereligions chief temple (if it has one) is listed aswell as cities where additional temples can befound. Locations of shrines are not listed.

    DescriptionThe goddess Alyara is portrayed as a young,beautiful woman with long, flowing hair, clothedin radiant light and bearing a staff of yew withlaurel trim. Her church adheres to the goal of

    bringing light and compassion to the world.Alyaras clergy the Lifebringerstravel the world,spreading the word of their goddess andcrusading against darkness and hatred.

    The Blessed Isles are Alyaras domain on Elysium.They are an archipelago in the middle of theGolden Sea. The islands are truly a paradise, where

    Alyaras faithful enjoy a peaceful and lovingexistence under an ever-shining sun.

    WorshipWorship of Alyara is widespread across theknown kingdoms of the world. Worshippers ofthe goddess come from myriad backgrounds andeven the most hardened mercenary or assassinfinds a prayer to Alyara prudent at times.

    TemplesTemples dedicated to Alyara are generally circular,with white stone and brick walls surrounding a

    courtyard. In the center of the courtyard is afountain containing an effigy of the goddess; thefountain is the temples altar. Rooms in the templeare used as clerical cells, infirmaries, and winecellars.

    ClericalRaimentsLifebringers dress in robes of white with gold trimand wear with laurel wreaths on their heads.

    HolyDaysandTimesSunday is always a day of reverence for Alyarasfaithful, but the holiest day of the faith isMidsummer (Highsummer 16th). On this day,worshippers of the goddess revel in the

    dominance of the day over night, and Alyaragrants her clerics enhanced powers against thepower of Undeath. The rest of the year,Lifebringers petition their goddess for spellsduring the hours of Newday.

    RelationshipsThe church of Alyara enjoys particularly goodrelations with the religions of Baltur, Dynera, andLyranis, while being indifferent to or disdainful of

    most of the other faiths. The teachings ofAzakhar and Aadu are considered evil and theirfollowers enemies. The greatest adversary ofAlyara, however, is the deity Shaarizad. The darkgod is the primary enemy of Alyaras church, andhis worshippers are to be given neither mercy norquarter.

    Be the Light that guides others from the darkness.

    Factions and OrdersIn addition to the standard priesthood, the churchof Alyara has two special orders: the Champions of

    the Lightand the Vine Maidens. The Champions of

    the Light are a militaristic order dedicated tohunting and eliminating the Undead. They areheadquartered near the Lhyrnic city of Lionsgate.The Vine Maidens are a monastic group offemale Lifebringers that have specialized in the art

    of winemaking. Their central convent is located inZeldora.

    Divine Gifts: Once per month, characters with

    this goddess as their patron may do one of thefollowing: Cast the spell cure minor wounds, cast thespell light or add a +2 competence bonus to aHeal check (they must choose one of the three,not all of them; but they need not make the samechoice every month). On their holy day, the laitymay cast either detect undead or cure light wounds

    (again, they must choose one or the other, but thechoice may be different each time).

    Favored Weapon: Sunstaff (quarterstaff)

    Fighting Order: n/a

    Holy Day Powers:On their holy day, the priestsreceive a +4 sacred bonus to all attempts atturning Undead (this bonus applies to both theturning check and damage). In addition, theclerics are granted the Extra Turning feat for oneday. These powers are granted from dawn of theSolstice until dawn of the following day.

    Notes:Temples to the goddess are always hallowedground (as per the spell hallow). The spell effect

    used will vary from place to place, but the mostcommon are bless, death ward, dispel magic, and zoneof truth. Hallow is cast during the dedication of anew temple.

    Heralds and Allies:Alyaras herald is a solar. Her

    allies are bralani eladrin, leonal guardinals, and 18-HD astral devas.
