WATERFRoNT WAlKWAYThe 40km Waterfront Walkway, meandering along the shore, is popular among outdoor enthusiasts. This pedestrian and cycle path, which is also part of the Rantamaraton marathon route, runs from laajalahti to Kivenlahti. There are a number of beaches (p. 17), boat harbours, cafes and restaurants along the Walkway. Waterfront Walkway for your mobile: m.citynomadi.com.
ISlAND TRANSPoRTATIoN RouTES AND SToPS
Visit Espoos largest island, Iso Vasikka-saari. Climb up to the observation tower, go for an invigorating swim and then have lunch in the summer restaurant Gula Villan (p. 32). other popular islands include Bylandet, Gsgrund, Knapperskr, Rvaren, Rvargrundet, Stora Herr and Torra lv. All of the recreational islands have piers, cooking shelters and toilets. Firewood is available and waste management is taken care of by the City of Espoo. Remember to take your own drinking water with you.

tel. +358 40 163 6200The Finnish Nature Centre Haltia is the gateway to Nuuksio National Park, and a number of excursions start from near the centre. Furthermore, just outside the centre, you can step out on to two shorter circle trails, one of which is easily accessible, thus providing a nature experience for people with pushchairs or wheelchairs.
Haukanpes Guide Hut and Haukkalampi Nature information Hut is open daily during the summer months. Excursion information is also available from the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia. There are almost 30 km of hiking trails around Haukkalampi, Kattila and Siikajrvi.
To the wilderness by bus?No problem!Buses 85, 85A and 85K leavefrom Espoon keskus (Espoo Centre) with bus 85A terminating in Kattila, Nuuksio in the summer and Nuuksionp in the winter. You can easily reach Espoon Keskus by train. In addition to this, during the summer, bergin linja offers transportation for customers to Haltia directly from Helsinki city centre. MouNTAIN BIKINGTop 3 mountain biking destinations
Nuuksio offers excellent moun-tain biking opportunities even for experienced riders. Please note that riding your bike is not permitted on all the routes and paths (map p. 14-15).
oittaa: Start at oittaa Recreation Centre, and test, for example, Route 2000, which takes you through Espoo. Route 2000 is a signposted hiking route in the capital region, which is about 110 km in length and mostly suitable for cycling as well.
Espoo Central park: Espoo Central Park at the heart of Espoo offers excellent sports opportunities, for example, for mountain biking.
