Increasing arrivals, hotel renovations and landmark resort developments in the horizon, new shopping destinations and entertainment features, additional ground activities for the tourists these and all the other obvious indications of a promising future of the tourism industry are seen and felt all over Saipan and the other main islands of the CNMI. The impact of these numbers and developments is a major boost to the CNMIs economy. Tourism is the Commonwealths major industry and revenue source for the government. Furthermore,

the much reported positive developments are expected to be reflected in other related indicators such as spending on capital infrastructure and employment rate.
Saipan, the CNMIs capital, is poised to cement its popularity as the go-to destination in the Pacific with the much reported future development of a $7.1 billion, 4,000-room multi-purpose resort by Best Sunshine International. Another recent report cited 3 more developments that will see the rise of world class luxury hotels and resorts in Saipan and
Tinian. Anticipation is high for the home-run scenario and the CNMI has all the right ingredients to reach it. The current administration has shown its keenness to projects relevant to strengthening the major industry. The leading hotels, vendors and corporations involved in tourism for decades have to be credited, not so much for their patience, but more for their international business acumen that made them see through the old dark days of the economy and stay to lead some necessary changes to pave the way for the positive developments within the industry.
