    SSOS AREA V PRESENTS:

The IPI workshop starts with an overview of the IPI categories and the protocols for data collection. Detailed practice in the

recognition of the IPI categories and consistent application of the data collection protocols enable participants to develop validity,

reliability, and inter-rater reliability in the data collection process. The skill development begins with participant analyses of written

scenarios to build basic understanding of the protocols for data collection and the types of instructional activities that fit each category.

The workshop then transitions participants to actual classrooms to practice and refine their newly-learned skills in real-world settings.

Throughout the learning process, all observations are discussed with peers and with the workshop leader. A recent comment by a

workshop participant was typical of the responses at this stage of learning: I was surprised how my data collection skills improved

from each activity to the next. The focus of the workshop transitions to practical strategies for engaging the whole faculty in

collaborative study of the data and discussions about how to address issues that will enhance engagement. Near the conclusion of the

workshop, participants again code classroom scenarios. The IPI developer reviews the participants category coding from this final

activity and emails directly to each participant feedback about the participants coding accuracy.

You will receive an email from Natalie confirming your registration prior to the workshop date.
