Ever Onward Winner, National Home Demonstration Council Song Contest, September, 1956

Words by Dorothy D. Bullock of Kentucky and Music by Max Exner

Like the music of a mighty band Our voices ring across the land Singing of duty nobly done While we advance as one!

Onward, ever onward with a strength born of unity To our God, our home, and country we will pledge our loyalty

Armed with faith and zeal throughout our days We’ll keep the heart of home ablaze Striving for better ways to live Living to serve and give!

Onward, ever onward with a strength born of unity To our God, our home, and country we will pledge our loyalty

Let us make each home a beacon light To guide our nation’s course a-right Spreading with gentle heart and hand Peace over all the land!

Onward, ever onward with a strength born of unity To our God, our home, and country we will pledge our loyalty

Kentucky Homemaker Creed

I believe in the home as an inspiring and happy center of family life - comfortable and attractive -

a place for relaxation and work where pleasures and responsibilities are shared.

I believe in the home and its contribution to community life which reflects the development of

the homemaker and the family.

I believe in the homemaker - alert, diligent, in search of better ways of doing ordinary things

for the welfare and happiness of the family.

I believe in the homemaker as a community leader responsible for passing on to

others mastered skills and knowledge.

I believe in the fellowship that comes through the homemakers organization - the exchange of ideas

and the joy of knowledge shared with others, thus broadening our lives and lifting household

tasks above the commonplace.

For these opportunities I am grateful. I am also thankful for the courage of yesterday,

the hope of tomorrow, and a growing consciousness of God’s love always.
