Firstly I would like to wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas.
2016 has again been a fantastic year for all our students, par-
ents and teachers and we look forward to working with you
next year. There will be an assembly next Tuesday in the SPC at
1pm and students will be dismissed at 1.20pm.
Year Six Graduation
On Monday night the school held a graduation for our out-
going Year Six students. It was a fantastic night hosted superbly
by our school captains - Alexia and Flynn. They have continued to do an amazing job with their public speaking roles this year.
Details of all the award winners are included later in this news-
letter. Thank you to the Year 6 teachers, Jude, Libby, Antony
and Lee (currently on leave) and also to the students and Year
5 parents who contributed with the supper and setting/packing
up of the Sports and Performance Centre. On behalf of all the
MPPS community we wish our year six students the very best as
they move on to secondary school next year.
End of Year Celebration
Thanks to all our families that braved the wild weather
(including some rain) last Thursday for our end of year celebra-
tion. Also thank you to the PA for hosting the event, including
organising the food trucks, raffles and games for the students. It
was a great casual night out for all that attended.
Reports
Families will receive student reports today, Wednesday 14th De-
cember in a sealed envelope along with details of their class-
room and teacher for 2017. All students will complete their last
‘Move Up’ transition session with their 2017 teacher on Thursday
at 11.30am.
First day of 2017
The first day back for all students in 2017 is Tuesday 31st January.
The prep/foundation students will begin the same day but will
start at 9.15am. All the teachers will be back at school on Mon-
day 30th January, which is a student free curriculum day.

Staffing
There will be some changes for 2017 with Jude Ryan taking leave for the year (and planning to re-
tire thereafter). We also say good bye to Maddy Creasey who will be moving on to another school
to teach in 2017. We wish them well for the future. Beth McInnes will be on family leave and we
wish the McInnes family well for their second child due early in 2017. We are excited to announce
that we have Libby Haigh (Yr 5/6), Matt Burke (Yr 1/2) and Christine Caminiti (Arts) joining our
teaching team in 2017. We are also in the process of recruiting another teacher for Year 1/2. We
have employed three new Education Support Staff to support our news students with disabilities;
this includes Gabby Farrell, Gracie Pupillo and Sammy Midwood. Liz Moody will be returning two
days a week to support our teachers during their Professional Learning Team (PLT) meetings, and
covering our numeracy and reading coaches to support teachers and students in the classroom.
2017 Class lists have already been completed; parents will be informed through their child’s report
which classroom and teacher they will have for next year.
*Recruitment process currently in progress. Information letter sent home to impacted families to-
day.

Booklists & Parent Payments
These notes have been sent home. If you haven’t received them you can download them from
the school website in the parent download section (http://www.mpp.vic.edu.au/our-school/
community/ password: mpps) or contact the school office. We encourage families to complete
the booklist order before December 11th 2016. Payments of fees and voluntary levies can be made
through the office at any time with a range of payments. The new Parent Payment policy can also
be found at: http://www.mpp.vic.edu.au/school-council/school-policies/. If you are paying via
BPAY please ensure that you notify the school via email/phone so the funds can be allocated ac-
cordingly.
eConnect (1:1 device program)
The eConnect program is a 1:1 mobile device program for all students currently in years 4, 5 and 6.
This program provides the opportunity for our students to enter a new world of curriculum possibili-
ties, enhancing students’ engagement and involvement in their learning by having their own mo-
bile device to take to class and home each day. All Year 3 students will have received their note
inviting them to be a part of this program for 2017. These details can also be found at:
http://www.mpp.vic.edu.au/our-school/community/ (Password: mpps).
Enjoy your holidays!

Please drop by the Lost Property and see if there is any items
that belong to your child. There is a huge amount of clothing,
hats, drink bottles, lunch boxes and sporting equipment there.
Many of the items are named, so please come past before
the end of term to collect any lost items that may belong at
your house.

Respect Optimism Care Collaboration
On behalf of the year 6 students and teachers we would like to thank all year 5 parent helpers for
their work on this year's graduation. Thank you to our wonderful team of volunteers, Jasmine Cresp,
Sandra Katsikis, Jill Kilpatrick, Shiona Long, Sigrid Rolfe, Debbie Wills and Perri Tuttle (2016 Student
teacher). An enormous amount of work was done by Melissa Darlington, who led the team, and
spent many hours in preparation for this big event.
A big thank you also goes to Tatiana Koukounaras for her creative work on the student’s dance
performance, a treat which brought a smile to all present. She has tirelessly volunteered her time
over a number of years to support our students in this role.
Another key person to thank is Vito Vampatella who not only came in several times this term to
photograph the students for their autograph book but also spent Monday night as our official
photographer. (Details on how to order photos can be found by either emailing Vito at vitovam-
[email protected] or via his website www.vitovampatella.com)
We would also like to recognise the efforts of Charlie Rolfe and Chiara Aldridge our 2017 school
captains for their efforts over past weeks and on the night. Finally we are all proud of the stellar
performance of this year's school captains, Flynn Gray and Alexis Koukounaras, who as the Masters
of Ceremonies kept the night rolling. As we’ve come to expect from them, they were prepared,
focused, relaxed and completely in command of the situation.
Through our 5/6 SEPEP sport program we have been educating our students on the role “behind
the scenes support people” play in sporting events. Our year 6s understand the role played by
those who helped make their big night such a success. They wish to pass on their appreciation for
all who contributed throughout their primary school journey.
The following awards were handed out on the night:
Specialist Awards (chosen by the specialist and foundation teachers):
PE – Luca Christofides
Visual Arts – Felicity Tseros
Performing Arts – Kate Sinclair
Italian – Alexis Koukounaras
Buddies – Adriana Koukounaras

The final award was the Principal’s Award which is given to a student who, through their ongoing
contributions to the broader school community, continually personifies our school values. This
year’s recipient is Sasha Byrne.
Congratulations to all out graduating year six students.
Finally for some families the year 6 graduation marks the end of their family’s time at MPPS.
We wish the following families well for the future:
As part of the MVIMP instrument study in 2016, the following students completed a music exam
with the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB). These exams are nationally and internation-
ally recognised and involve lots of practise and preparation for the day.
Liam Jameson 5/6 Grade 2 Saxaphone
Zara Ng 5/6A Grade 2 Flute
Bridget Mihulka 3/4A Preliminary Cello
Lucca Carroll 5/6 Preliminary Cello
Jacob Ohrt 5/6 Grade 2 Trumpet
Congratulations to these students as well as students who completed music exams outside of the
MVIMP program.
