தறணரறு ரட்கள் டந் ரத்றல், ருஷ ருர் வல்ன-படிரல் ரம் கடுஷரக டந்து. தறஶணரம்ரள், ரத்த்றல் ஜ்ஞபர்த்றின் ரம் ஶஶனரங்கறது. ரரதெர் தறல் கூந-ஶண்டும். ஆணரல் வற்நற ஶ என்ந இருரப்தில்” ரஷப ரரும் ” என்நரர் ஜ்ஞர். டத்றற்குத் றரும்தி றரெர்,
ஶதருபரபஷண சஷடந்ரர். அன்நற-வு ஸ்ப்ணத்றல், ஶதருபரபன் ஶரன்நற “ ீர் ஏன் கனங்க ஶண்டும் ? உம் தரச்சரர்ரண, ஸ்ரீஆபந்ரர் அருபி அகண்டரர ர கண்ட-ணங்கஷபப் தரர்த்து அறலுள்ப பக்றகஷபக் வகரண்டு ரறடும். ரறல் வற்நற உக்ஶக. ” என்று கூந, றுரள், இில் கண்ட கணின்தடி ஸ்ரீஆபந்ரரின்,
ஸ்ரீமழக்றகபிலுள்ப பக்ற ரங்கஷப ணறல் வகரண்டு, ஶதருபரபஷண ங்கறிட்டு,
கம்தீ ஷடடந்து ரம் டக்கும் இடத்றற்குச் வசன்நரர். அஷக்கண்ட ஜ்ஞபர்த்ற, றரெரின் பகத்றல் கண்ட ஶெஷமப் தரர்த்து இருக்கு தகரனுஷட அனுக்யம் சறத்றக்கப் வதற்று இருக்- கறநது என்தஷண உர்ந்ரய், “ ஸ்ரறன் ஶரிடம் அடிஶன் ஶரற்ஶநன். “ என்று ிண்ப்தித்து உஷடருஷட தரதுஷககஷப ரங்கறத் ம் சறமறல் ஷத்துக்வகரண்டு, “ அடிஶஷண ஆட்வகரள்ப-ஶண்டும் “ என்று ப்ரர்த்றத்ரர். அற்கு றரெர், கரம் ஶகட்க, அர் “ உக்கு தகரஶண ப்த்க்ஷரண திநகு, இந் சரரன்ன் ரய் றநந்தும் ஶதசபடிபஶர ! “ என்று கூநற, து ஏக ண்டத்ஷ பநறத்து எநறந்து, சறஷக, ஜ்ஶஞரதீங்கஷப ப்ரச்சறத் ந்றங்கஷபச் வசரல்னற, ஏற்றுக் வகரண்டு, உஷடரிடம் , அரும், த்ரிண்டம், கரரம் பனறஷகஷபத் ந்ருபி, “ அருபப்வதருரள் எம்வதருரணரர் “ என்ந ரத்ஷபம் சூட்டித் து சறஷ்ரக ஏற்றுக்வகரண்டரர். கரம், ஶதருபரபன் அருபரல் கறஷடக்கப்வதற்ந சறஷ்ரனரல், “ அருபப் வதருரள் “ ஶலும் அர் ரத்றல் ஶரற்நரல் றரெரின் ஷச் ட்டிக்வகரள்ரகக் கூநஶ “ எம்வதரு-ரணரர் “ என்ந வதஷபம் ஶசர்த்து அருக்குச் சூட்டி கறழ்ந்ரர். ஶஶன தடிபங்கள். வரடரும்……….

This is indeed a sacred day to restart the postings in tribute to the Divya Dampathis . The last time , we focused on the BhrindAvana-SaarangA rAga Krithi of Sri Dikshithar .
Sri Dikshithar was so overwhelmed by the beauty of Sri RanganAthA that he composed two more beautiful krithis on Him and made sure that he included his tribute to both Sri RanganAyakan and Sri RanganAyaki in both the krithis ( Raagams DhanyAsi and Naayaki ). It is very appropriate to salute these krithis on this Panguni Uttaram day . The significance of Panguni Uttiram has been beautifully described by both Sri MuraLi Rangaswamy and Sri MadhavakkaNNan earlier in the day .

The DanyAsi Raaga Krithi on the Divya dampathis of Srirangam This one is a short ( samashti ) krithi without anupallavi . It is set in the fourth Vibakthi , which has special meaning for those , who do japam of mUla Manthram of Sriman NaarAyaNA . The chathurthi Vibakthi over the NaarAyaNa sabdham stands for the Bhagavadh-BhAgavatha Kaimkaryams . One wonders whether the enormity of the concepts of the Bhagavdh-BhAgavatha Kaimkaryams overwhelmed the mind of Sri Dikshithar and resulted in a shorter krithi . The meanings hidden in this krithi vAkhyams however are profound .
DanyAsi Krithi Vaakhyams ( Hanuma Thodi Janya Raagam ) Pallavi: Sri RanganAthAya namasthE namasthE
CharaNam: Sri Rangapuri vilasitha Sri RamAntharangAya Sri RanganAyaki SamEthAya Guruguha nuthAya ( Sri RanganAthAya namasthE )
Reflections on the Pallavi Vaakhyams Sri Dikshithar salutes the Lord of Srirangam, who rests under the PraNava vimAnam looking southward as the beutiful bridegroom. He salutes Sri RanganAtha twice in the pallavi. He recognizes Him first as the Lord of BhUlOka VaikunTam (leelA vibhUthi) and in the next round of salutation (namasthE), he offers his salutation to the Parama Padha Naathan ( nithya VibhUthi ).
When Sri Deekshithar chose twice the Nama: sabdham in his pallavi Vaakhyams , One is inevitably drawn toward the Nama: sabdham of mUla Manthram , which refers to the upAyam and Bhara SamarpaNam . It also refers to the deep thought that " Mama : " sabdham is responsible for us to be sunk in samsAric quick sand and that " Na Mama " or " Nama: " sabdham refers to the akshara Brahmam , which is sAsvatham . Of that eternal , timeless Paramapurushan , Sri RanganAthan , Sri Deekshithar sang about in his pallavi .
CharaNa Vaakhyams of the DanyAsi Krithi " Sri Rangapuri vilasitha Sri RamAntharangAya Sri RanganAyaki SamEthAya Guruguha nuthAya (sri RanganAthAya namasthE namsthE ) "are the charaNa vAkhyams .
As a scholar in Sanskrit , the qualifications of Sri Deekshithar are impeccable. In support of that proclivity, he chose the word "Vilasitha" to describe Sri RanganAthan . He saluted the Lord ( bhOga mUrthy ) as Srirangapuri vilasithan .
The MANY meanings of the Word Vilasitha This word means (1) Glittering (2) shining , (3)gleaming (4) that which manifested , (5)that which sports (6) that which is engaged in amorous dalliance . It also has additional meanings of a gesture and result .
Glittering Aspect (Vilasitham-Meaning:1) The jewels in the crown of the Lord are glittering as described by Swami Desikan: " rathnApeeDa dhyuthi saBalithE Rangabharthu: kireetE " Here Swami Desikan points out that the many gems adorning the siras of the Lord of Sri Rangam reflect on the crown that He is wearing and cast a ever changing glitter for the BhakthAs .

Shining aspect (Vilasitham-Meaning :2) The jyOthi of Sri RanganAthan shines inside the heart cavity of the Yogis as saluted by Swami Desikan in Sri Bhagavdh DhyAna sOpAnam : " Anthar jyOthi: kimapi yaminAm anjanam yOga dhrushtE : "
The jyOthi that shines steadily inside the heart cavity of the Yogis are seen by them thru the power of their yOgam and is their chinthA rathnam (ChinthaamaNi gem ), which blesses them with siddhi here in this world and mOksham in the other world ( Siddhi mOkshAnurUpam ) .
Gleaming aspect (Vilasitham-Meaning :3) The gleam is in the eye of the Lord. He is so happy to see His BhakthA standing in front of Him . His eyes welcome generously the errant one , who finally has arrived at his chambers ( svAgathOdhAra nEthram ). Meanwhile , the kanaka tilakam adorning His forehead shines from the gleam in His eyes ( Kaantham vakthram kanaka tilakAlankrutham Rangabharthu --svAgathOdhAra nEthram ) .
Self-manifested aspect (Vilasitham-Meaning :4) The Lord appeared as a result of the Tapas of BrahmA and then was worshipped by King IshvAku , who won the Lord as a boon thru his severe penance . The Lord stayed at AyOdhyA and was worshipped by Sri RamachandrA . After His coronation , Sri RamachnadrA gave Sri RanganAthA as a gift to VibhIshaNA . On the way to LankhA , the Lord " manifested " at Sri Rangam and chose to stay right there and receives VibhIshaNA's ArAdhanam at midnight even today . He is a svayam Vyakthan and thus makes Srirangam as one of the eight Svyam-Vyaktha KshEthrams .
Swami Desikan reminds us about the svayam-Vyaktham aspect of Sri Rangavilasithan in one of the slOkams of Hamsa sandEsam this way : " SatthvE divyE svayamudhathas tasya dhAmna: prasangAth manjUshAyAm marakathamiva bhrAjamAnam tadhantha:"
" DivyE satthvE svayam udhayatha: tasya dhAmna: prasanghAth tadh antha; manjUshAyAm marakatham iva bhrAjamAnam " is the anvaya kramam hee.
The Sesha peetam on which His vimAnam is resting is suddha Satthva mayam (divyE satthve). There , He rose out of His own volition (Svayam udhayatha:). The effulgence of the self-manifested Lord (tasya dhAmna:) is like the Maragatham gem in its case ( the Lord 's lustre inside the PraNava VimAnam ) .
That which sports (Vilasitham-Meaning : 5) He is the Lord , who had dalliance with the Gopis on the banks of YamunA river and enjoyed the sports of Jala kreetA , Raasa kreetA during KrishNavathAram . Sri LeelAsukar , the author of KrishNa KarNaamrutham describes that GOpAla Rangan as " TaruNam , VrajaBAla sundareeNAm taralam kinchan dhAmam " (i-e) the ever youthful , shining jyOthi , which was the life support of the young GOpis of BhrundAvanam. At Srirangam , the BhUloka Ranga vilasithan sported with ANDAL , UrayUr NaachiyAr , the Delhi SultAn's daughter and Sri RanganayakI on the banks of Cauveri river .
The gesture/MudhrA( Vilasithan -Meaning 6) Sri RanganAthA has the Abhaya Hastham as His gesture. As Swami Desikan points out in Sri Abheethi Sthavm , This Rangavilasithan has the Abhaya MudhrA : " sakruth prapadana sprusAm

abhaya dAna Nithya Vrathee , na cha dhvibhAshasE tvamithi visrutha: svOkthitha: " . Swami Desikan says here : Oh , Lord of Sri Rangam ! You will never say twice that You have taken the eternal vow of giving abhayam as a boon to prapannAs . When they perform prapatthi once , that is enough for You . Infact with Your abhaya hastha mudhrA , You seem to gesture to them to stop performing Prapatthi more than once .
The Result as a Meaning for Vilasithan (Meaning 7) Vilasitha means also palan or the end result . He is the one , who gave us the charama SlOkam and assured us that " mAmEkam SaraNam vraja" . He showed us the one and only way that will yield Him as the fruit of prapatthi .

In the above Srimadh Rahasya Traya Saara slOkam , Swami Desikan says that He united with His divine Consort , Sri RanganAyaki and He is the Sarva pradhan ( yielder of all fruits ) . He is the Dharmam (SiddhOpAyam) as EmperumAn .Swami Desikan concludes by reminding us that this unfailing path has been pointed to us by our AchAryAs .
Rest of the CharaNa VaakhYams of the Naayaki rAga Krithi " (Sri Rangapuri vilasitha) Sri RamAntharangAya , Sri RanganAyaki SamEthAya Guruguha nuthAya "
We have covered the meaning of " Sri RamAntharangAya " in the BhrundAvana SaarangA krithi earlier. That Sri RangarAjan is always in the company of Sri RanganAyaki ( Sri RanganAyaki SamEhtAya ) is saluted next by Sri Deekshithar . He is also eulogized by His nephew, Guhan (Guruguha nuthAya). The Krithi mudrai, " Guru Guha" is used by Sri Deekshithar to show that he is the one , who composed this krithi in DhanyAsi Raagam .
I thouhgt I will say a few words on the DhanyAsi krithi because of its small size ( Vaamana rUpam ), but it extended in to its TrivikramA form as a rsult of the contemplation about the limitless GuNAs of Sri RanganAyaki Sametha Sri RanganAthan .
May the Divya dampathis bless us particularly on this special day and take their residence at their temple here in North America! It is my prayer that we all do the Kaimkaryam of building the temple " brick-by-brick " for them for their new home amidst us and thus become kruthArthAs .

சறநந் றன்ற்குங்கஷப தரடிகறழ்ந்றடஶ ,
கறபர்ந்ண ரர்த்ஷகள் என்ன் ரினறருந்ஶ !
ஆந்ல்னறஶ...
குஷநந் ற்தண்புகஷபஶபஷட அடினும் ,
றஷநந் குக்குன்நரண உஷப்தரட பஷணது ;
இஷந் ரஷகக்கூட்டத்ஷ எண்ிட றஷணத்து ,
ிஷந்ன் கஷரக இன்று படிந்றடுன்ஶநர !

3. Karma yoga (work without attachment to fruits) is the starting point. When karma yoga
followed by certain disciples brings about fruition of knowledge and renunciation (Vide
chapter four – 4.33, 38), the stage reached is jnaana yoga, wherein he gains the knowledge
of the self – the status described as kaivalya. It is this jnaana yogi in meditation and through
the gaining of true knowledge of God - nisht’haa jnaanasya yaa paraa (18.50), becomes a
jnaanee – the state of parama bhakti (7.18), when the karma yogi completely surrenders to
God and thereby attain mukti (liberation). This is the process described in (18.49 – 55). In
this context we are not to miss Krishna‟s emphasis on Imperative of Karma Yoga even after
the Highest Spiritual Attainment: “Carrying on his duties continually (sarva karmaani api
sadaa kurvaanah), taking refuge in Me (madvyapaas’rayah), by My grace he reaches the
eternal and indestructible abode (state) – matprasaadaat avaapnoti s’aas’vatam padam
avyayam (the expression standing for All-mighty and All-supporting God). Mentally
dedicating all deeds to Me (cetasaa sarvakarmaani mayi samnyasya), having Me as the
highest goal (matparah), resorting to buddhi – yoga – meaning viewing all forms of duality
and all objects and beings alike (buddhi yogam upaas’ritya), you do ever fix your mind on Me
(macchittah satatam bhava”. – [18. 56-57]: Here is a very emphatic reiteration, in a wider
context and sense, Krishna‟s earlier general expression – karma jyaayah hi akarman’ah.
4. We cannot but conclude this presentation quoting Krishna‟s response to Arjuna‟s question
“teshaam (among the worshippers of Personal or Impersonal God) ke yoga vittamaah (who
is better versed in yoga”? – {12.1]: “Those who, ever integrated with Me and possessed of
supreme faith, worship Me, focusing their minds on Me, these are considered by Me as the

highest - most unitively attuned among the yogins – te me yuktatamaa mataah. – [12.2]: The
three expressions used in defining devotees worshipping the Personal God and who are
considered as most unitively attuned in yoga in (12.2) are: (i). mayi aaves’ya manaah –
minds entered into Me; (ii). nitya yuktaah upaasate maam – worship Me ever unitively
established; (iii). upetaah parayaa s’raddhayaa – endowed with supreme fervour and or faith
(s’raddha). Compare these with the expression used to define a yogi who is also a devotee
and considered as the best among the yogins (sarveshaam yoginaam api sah me yukta-
tamah matah) in 6.47, namely, - (i). madgatena antaraatmanaa – with inner self merged into
Me; (ii). bhajate maam – worships or serves Me [in the spirit of the exhortation in (6.31)];
s’raddhaavaan – endowed with faith (s’raddha); one cannot miss to note the amazing
similarity in spirit of the two groups of expressions and this not only establishes the
superiority of worship of Personal Deity, but also emphasizing the fact that such a devotee is
indeed a yogi. And the distinguishing feature of both the devotees and yogis is that both the
groups worship Personal God. It looks as though that what is stated earlier in (6.47) is being
reiterated here in (12.2). It can be seen easily that yoges’vara Krishna provided an
unequivocal answer to Arjuna‟s question – teshaam ke yoga uttamaah. It is therefore is no
exaggeration if it is stated that the Sermon‟s one exhortation which runs throughout is “to
become an integrated yogin – tasmaat yogee bhava”, wherein, all other exhortations,
culminating in the crowning exhortation in carama sloka (18.65, 66), are more or less
implied. The yogin under consideration upto (6.46) can be compared to the devotee
described in the verses (12.13 - 19). But Krishna wants such a yogin to be a true bhakta also
in (6.47), which verse can be compared to the verse (12.20) – the supremely beloved of the
Deity. The observation in (6.47) marks the transition from moral aspect to spirituality and
leads to the subject of bhakti (Devotion) – the true nature of devotion and the object of this
devotion (true knowledge of God – param jnaanam).
5. It is because of the above considerations, perhaps, Krishna exhorted Arjuna – tasmaat
yogee bhava arjuna – therefore O Arjuna become such a yogin”. – [6.46]: What kind of
yogee? Krishna answered. “Of all yogins (yoginaam api sarveshaam), he who worships Me
with faith, his innermost self merged in Me (yah maam bhajate sraddhaavaan madgatena
antaraatmanaa), - him I consider to be the most devout or united (sah me yuktatamah
matah) : - (6.47): Therefore, the meaning of the expression “yoginaam api sarveshaam”, is
that when the saadhaka who has attained a particular status as outlined above is called by
that particular name – karma yogi, jnaana yogi or bhakti yogi. But when the saadhaka
reaches the last stage stated above, he attains the status of a jnana - bhakta, having passed
through all the stages – karma, jnaana and bhakti yogas. It is such a jnaana - bhakta,
Krishna characterizes as the best of all yogins (an integrated yogin) in (6.47).

This Divya kshetram is represented by a small shrine in the northern prakaram
of Ulagalantha Perumal temple in the temple town of Kanchipuram.
The moolavar is Jagadeeswarar. Though there is no moolavar vigraham and it is
not known of the exact location of the old temple and the moolavar vigraham,
there is an Utasava vigraham. The Thayar is Nilamangaivalli. The Theertham is
Akroora Theertham and the Vimanam Jagadeeswara Vimanam.
Azhwar Mangalaasaasanam: Tirumangai Azhwar – 2059 (pasuram number as
found in Naalaayira Divya prabhandam).

This Divya kshetram is located in the temple town of Kanchipuram.
The moolavar is Pandava Dhootaperumaal, an imposing 28 feet image, in a
seated form. Thayars Rukmani and Satyabhama are also enshrined. The
Theertham is Mathsya Theertham and the Vimanam Bathra Vimanam.
As per the sthala purana Vaisampayana was narrating Bhagavatham to
Janamejayan, and was referring to Lord Krishna’s visit to Hasthinapuram as
Pandava’s Dhoota (Ambassador). Desiring to have the Vishwaroopa darsana
they performed Ashwamedhayagam at Kanchi. On completion of the yagam the
Lord gave darshan as Pandava Dhoota. There are shrines for Ramanuja and
Manavaala Maamuni.

Atindriyah, Mahaamaayah In previous part Andal's Tiruppavai, where Namas of Sriman Narayana found in plenty were discussed. As Sriman Narayana has been propitiated by Andal in Nachiar Thirumozhi also by various names, it is continued in this part. Andal says Sriman Narayana as Kadal vannan, Govindan, Madhavan, Narayanan, in many pasurams. The namas such as Thirumal, Kesavan, Manivannan, Kariya piran, Irudikesan ,Vasudevan also took place twice. In Irandam Thirumozhi first pasuram started with "Namam Ayiram Etha Ninra Narayana Narane ". Also we can find Rama Charama sloka as(10.4 ) Kollai arakkiyai mukkarithitta kumaranar sol on Lord Rama, on Varaha charama sloka as ( 11.8) Manamilla panri aam thesu udaiya thevar on Varahaavataram, and Krishna Charam sloka as (11.10) meymai peru varthai on Geethopadesam .In varanamayiram 2nd pasuram Andal says as she saw a handsome young , who goes by the names Narasimhan, Madhavan & Govindan, enter the wedding dais, decorated with

betel-nut trees, in order to participate in the Nischitartham.Andal in 9th Thirumozhi, says as she is offering nooru thada niraintha akkara vadisal butter in 100 vessels and Akkaravadishil in 100 vessels to the lord of Thirumaliruncholai with His namas like Solai malai peruman, Thiruvudaiyan, Sundaran, Thirumal, Emperuman, Nambi. In 12th Thirumozhi concluding pasuram Andal assures Vaikuntham (Eternity ) to persons who sings the namas of Sriman Nnarayana in good musical voice. As we find namas in a prime place by other Azhwars also, it shjall be dealt in future parts periodically.
In previous part 167 and 168 namas Madhava, Madhu, were dealt. In this next nama 169 Atindriyah it means as One who is beyond the range of human sense-organs,which are our means of comprehension. He is not One who is not knowable by the senses. He is instrumental for all our perceptions, emotions, and thoughts that cannot experience Him. In Kathopanishad(3.15 ) it is said as asabdam asparsam as one who is He is soundless, untouched, formless, immutable, tasteless, odourless, and eternal. Sri Krishna shows great sympathy for our inherent intellectual weakness , and very sympathetically discloses the essential secrets of the path of meditation in chapter 6. In 21 st sloka He defines Himself as "There where he feels that infinite bliss -which is comprehended by the pure intellect but never by sense organs.and established wherein he never again slips from his Real state". Poigai Azhwar in Mudal Thiruvanthathi tells about our senses in many pasurams as sevi vai kan mukku udal enru impulanum, vari surukki madhakkaliru inthinaiyum, Ariya pulan Indhu adakki etc. . Azhwar compares the senses with elephant ,and insists the control of senses , without any egoism,for easy worship of Sriman narayuana. Azhwar wonders whether such organs are really used by devotees as bakthi sadhannams. But Sriman Narayana is of exceptional characters with senses. The next nama is Mahaamaayah means One who conceals Himself. He is the supreme master of all Maayaas. He is One who can cause illusion even over other great illusionists. In Gita 7.14 Sri Krishna says as "mama maya dhurathyaya "This divine illusion of mine , constituted of the gunas is difficult to cross over. Those who devote themselves to Me alone can cross over this illusion". The power of Maya is the power of the mind at play and to conquer the mind and tame it is not easy task for the worldly man with lot of lusts, passions, desires and selfishness. In Tiruppavai Mayanai in 5th pasuram denotes Sriman Narayana is one beyond our imagination. Andal quotes in 8th 'Thoomani 'pasuram as 'Mamayan Mathavan' as Sri Krishna Avataram has many wonders right from the birth. In Sri Rama Avataram Rama exposed Himself only as human personality. It can be said as human in occasional failings, in magnificent achievements ,actual beneficence, in full following truth and righteousness. His elevation as superhuman status, on significant times his supreme nature He is thus indicated here as the Great Magician, who has the magic of Maayaa at His command. The aspect of the one

DayA Satakam by Swami Desikan.

This decad is in SikariNi meter and consists slokas from 61 - 70.
Swami Desika performed Saranagati at the end of the previous decad at the glorious feet of the Lord
of Tirumala Hills with the help of DayA Devi. Saranagathi means seeking the refuge at the Lord's
sacred feet. SaranAgathi is also called bharanyAsam as the jeevAtmA transfers the burden and
responsibility of protection to the Lord.
Once Saranagathy is observed, the prapannAs must engage in activities that are pleasing to Him
such as reciting VedAs, Divya Prabandams, NAma Sankeertanams etc. They also must take not to
engage in acts that are prohibited by Him. Due to prakruti sambandam, there can be impediments
and if one trespasses the prescribed injunctions, he/she receives a small punishment for that from
the Lord and become pure. Andal demonstrates how one must beg that temptations should not
hinder our progress towards moksham ற்ஷந ம் கரங்கள் ரற்று. Nammalwar gives
us instruction to abstain from 'ிம், சதனம்’ ‘டீுறன் பற்நவும், வசரன்ணரல் ிஶரறது. DayA Devi helps the prapannas to avoid temptations and easily progress.

Swami Desikar claims that although Lord Srinivasan is all pervasive and limitless, DayA Devi is four
times bigger than the Lord's DivyAtma swaroopam. . During pralayam, the waters devour everything.
All the karmAs assembled together are like the fire that appears in the middle of the pralayam
water. This fire is bigger than the pralayam water. A drop of Her grace performs wonders and
queches the gigantic bundle of karmAs. (sloka 61)
DayA Devi is the one responsible for Lord Srinivasans Souseelyam. This kalyAna GuNa enales Him to
come down from His lofty heights to the level of a variety of simple folks and mingle with them as
their equals. He engaged in relationships with lowly Guhan, Sugrivan, simple Sabari, penniless
Kuselan and the old hunchack woman.

வதரருள் – ரஶிஶ! ஶங்கள் என்னும் கத்றன் ரன்கு றகளும் கூடும் தரஷில் ீ றற்கறன்நரய். அங்கு தந்ரசம் என்தன் பனம் ஷநக்கப்தட்ட தரங்கஷப சுந்து வகரண்டு ருதர்கஷப ீ தரர்க்கறநரய். இவ்ிரண உதகரத்ஷ வகரண்டு ரும் அர்கஷப எறர்ஶரக்கறச் வசல்கறநரய். இஷணக் கரண்தனும், இந் உனஷகஶ ிக்க ஷக்கும் ன்ஷ வகரண்ட சறங்கஷன என்று ஶதரற்நப்தடும் றருஷனின் ித்ரன் ஆணனும் ஆகற ஸ்ரீறரமன், “இது என்ண ிந்ஷரண வசல்”?, என்று ிக்கறநரன்.

Thiruppaavai Koodi Irunthu Kulirvom
Sri Andal & Thiruppaavai needs no introduction. Sri Andal the very incarnation of Sri Bhu
devi thaayar appeared under a tulasi plant on Thiru Aadi pooram at Sri Villiputhur. She is a
personification of Kshama (forgiveness). Periazhwar affectionately named her „Godhai‟ and
fostered her with Krishna bakti. She captured the Lord with her flower garlands (poo maalai)
& her prabhandams (Paa maalai) and eventually married Him. Sri Andal has blessed us with
two popular prabhandams; Thiruppavai and Naachiyar Thirumozhi. Her Thiruppavai is
extolled as Vedam anaithukkum Viththu (seed for all the Vedas). Sri Ramanujar constantly
mediated on Thiruppavai so much so he was named „Thiruppavai Jeeyar‟. Following our
acharya, like Andal enjoyed the anubhavams of Sri Krishna along with her sakis (friends), let
us join together in Margazhi to meditate and glorify Sri Andal & Her arulicheyal,
Thiruppaavai.
Thiruppaavai Taniyan Avatharikai (experts from Sri PerukkAranai swami Thiruppaavai
commentary)
Once there were two baagavatas named Vandar and Sondar who maintained a nandavan
near Srirangam temple and performing pushpa Kainkaryam to Sri Ranganathar. The then
King wanting to build prahaarams (circumambulatory paths) around the temple decided to
demolish the nandavanam. Sri Parasara Bhattar advised the king to build the prahaaram
around the nandvanam like Thirunmangai Azhwar built the ramparts going around the
nanadvanam of Thondaradipodi azhwar without destructing it. Not heeding to this advice, the

kind started demolishing the nandavanam. Upset by the action of the king, Sri Parasar
Bhattar left to Thirukotiyoor. While Sri Bhattar was deeply in separation from Sri
Ranganathar, Najeeyar (to shake him of his melancholy) requested his acharyan to write
about Sri Andal & Azhwars. Thus came the celebrated taniyan of Thiruppavai “Neela thunga”
and naalayriam podhu taniyan “Bhootam Sarsacha” from Sri Parasara Bhattar.
NeeLaa thunga sthana giri thadi padi suptha mudhbOdhya krishnam
paaraarthyam sthvam sruthi sada siras sidhdham adhyaa bhayanthee|
svOchchishtaayaam sraji nigaLidham yaabalaathkruthya bungthE
gOdhaa thasyay nama idamidham bhooya Evaasthu bhooya:
Meaning: Let me offer my obeisance to Godhai again & again ( nama idam idam) who has
awakened Lord Krishna (UdhbOdhya Krishnam) who is resting along with Nappinai (Neela
thunga), the one who enjoys the Lord through pArathantriyam ,that is the essence of the
vEdAs and Upanishads (sruthi siras), the one whose garland of flowers became enjoyable
because she had worn it earlier (svOchchishtaayaam sraji nigaLidham); the one whose
garland of verses brought out the greatness of the Lord and her own total dependence on
Him (pArathantriyam ) and the one who on her own accord forcefully embraces (yaa balaath
kruthya bungthE) and enjoys the Lord.
Godha means:
1) One who gives us divine knowledge and wisdom about the supreme (one who nourishes us
with Jnana Paal through Her Thiruppaavai)
2) One who gives us the divine Vaak and quintessence of Vedam(speech by reciting Her
Thiruppaavai)
3) One who appeared from Bhumi(She is the very incarnation of Bhu Devi)
4) One who controls the senses
5) One who is like a flower
Godhai who is saakshaat Bhu Devi thaayar, nourishes the jeevans with the milk of Jnanam
and fulfills Her duty by becoming an acharyai to all Jeevans and to Lord Krishna.
1) As an acharyaI to all jeevans, Godhai through her Thiruppaavai gives the upadesam and
shows us the path (upaayam) to reach The Lord through Her anushtaanaam.
2) Lord Krisnha engrossed in His leela avataaram seemingly has forgotten His paratvam
(supremacy). Godha gently wakes Him and reminds Him of whom He is and His duties. She
became the acharyaI to Lord Krishna and reminded Him of our relationship with Him
(Paaraardhyam) and His duty to save all the Jeevans.
No wonder Perumal has special love for Godha and holds Her on His head. Saastras say a
husband celebrates a wife by keeping her on his head when she fulfills her duties nicely.
Swami Desikar reflects this in Bhu stuthi “Visvambare bahumuka pratipanna bhogah
SheShaatmanaa to bhavatiiM shirasaa dadhaati”
Her Thiruppaavai has unparalleled glories and one such is, it is extolled as „Vedam
anaithirukum Vithu‟ It has the quintessence of Vedanta and is layered with deep meaning.
It has infinite hidden meanings, called SwaapadEsam which is full of nectar.

Andal Avataara Rahasyam
Sri PerukkaaraNai Swami beautifully explains the avataara Rahasyam as follows: Perumal
as a father takes several incarnations and was unsuccessful in making His children (Jeevas)
realise the true purpose of their life. Perumal felt that His consort will be able to accomplish
what He could not. He was convinced that with their motherly touch they can advice their
children with priyam and asked His devi‟s to descend to earth. Sri Bhu devi taayar readily
agreed as She was waiting for an opportune moment since Varaha avataaram. During
Varaha avataaram, Perumal rescued the earth (bhumi) after vanquishing Hiranyakasipu.
Naturally concerned about Her children, Bhu Devi thaayar asked for a lagu upaayam (easy
means) for deliverance. There Varaha Perumal instructed Bhu devi Thaayar the three
means
1) To offer flowers onto Him
2) To sing His glories and pastimes
3) To chant His names
At that time Thaayar tied three knots in Her saree and took an oath that She will appear in
this world and teach these three means to all. Hence out of infinite mercy She appeared as
Sri Godha to practice & preach these three means.

Sri Ashwatha Lakshmi Narasimha temple is very pictures and beautiful temple
situated near the banks of river TungaBhadra and a big Ashwatha Vruksha
surrounding the temple premises makes it even more beautiful. Rightly so
becausethis historic temple is established by Sri Sri Sripada Rayaru and he also planted theAshwatha VruKsha some 600 years back even before Sri
Vijayadasaru could takebirth in this village. It is understood that Sri SriPada
Rayaru had founded this templekeeping in vision that Sri Dasaru will be taking birth in this place.

Here, NaraSimha Jayanti is celebrated in VaiShakHa MaaSa for all the three days andthis is also one such event apart from Aradhane which every one attends

Devaru and themarriage with goddesses Lakshmi are performed during the Jayanti and the followingday the god is taken to the TungaBhadra River for the

This place(temple PraKaara) is called Vijaya DaaSara Katte as Sri Dasaru used to do TapaSSu on this Katte and AlaNkaaRa is done to the AshWatha VruKsha during AraDhane symbolizing that Dasaru is in this place doing TapaSSu. How to get there?
Chikalparvi is in Karnataka and it is at a distance of 55kms from Raichur district and 10 Kms from Manvi town, which is the nearest place to reach Chikalparvi.There are no direct buses from Raichur to Chikalparvi so one needs to come to Manvi from Raichur and then take the buses or private jeeps running from Manvi town. The last bus which leaves for Chikalparvi from Manvi is at 8PM.so make sure u are in Manvi
latest by 8PM. Raichur is well connected by trains and busses. Many trains like Hampi link express,Udyan express,KK Express and kurla run daily from Banglore. You may also know that Raichur is at a distance of 45 kms from MantRalaYa. Via Bus, there are two ways, if u are coming to Raichur from Andhra route like Anantpur,Adoni,Mantralaya then u need to get down at Raichur and then take a bus to Manvi. Play-acting The Lord, in His Krishna avatara, indulges in play acting, which, like His many
pranks, is most endearing. Whenever the Gopikas come to Yasoda with their
complaints, Krishna assumes an air of innocence and assures His mother that
He has not done anything wrong. So good is His acting, that Yasoda believes
Him, said Kidambi Narayanan.
When Krishna is on Yasoda's lap, He pretends that He does not even know what
night means. Later, when Yasoda is away, He eats up the butter, and knocks
down the pot containing buttermilk, and comes back to where Yasoda left Him,
and pretends to be asleep. The evidence against Him is strong, for there is no
one else there, who has an inordinate love for butter. And yet, Krishna pretends
to be asleep, thinking He can fool Yasoda.
Likewise Andal, in Her Tiruppavai, thinks of Herself as a Gopika, a role She
never slips from in any of Her verses. She keeps to Her assumed role in the
verses. In one of Periazhvar's verses, Yasoda chides Krishna for not bathing
regularly. What will the girl Nappinnai, who is to marry Him think of Him, His
mother wonders. Will she not laugh at Him?
In the Rama avatara, there is an episode, where Rama goes to Sita's room, when
She is still dressing. Angry at being interrupted, Sita asks Rama how He could
enter Her quarters without Her permission. Rama leaves. But as soon as He
leaves, Sita is sorry for Her words. She wants to make amends for asking Rama
to leave. As for Rama, He is sorry for having offended Her, and wants to make
up to Her. So He goes back to see Sita. Sita is waiting to apologise to Him, and
Rama is waiting to apologise to Her. But who is to break the ice? Neither knows
how to begin the conversation. Rama then deliberately drops His ring, and
pretends that it has slipped off His finger. Sita then looks for it, finds it and
hands it to Him. And thus their domestic quarrel is forgotten. What a piece of
play acting on the Lord's part! It is this ring that is later taken by Hanuman to
Sita, and seeing it Sita recalls the incident. Seeing the ring She becomes
