A. Guidelines for poster preparation

The dimensions of the poster should be 3 feet (0.9 meters) wide and 4 feet

(1.2 meters) high. The poster thus should be oriented in the "potrait" position

(long dimension is vertical).

Please remember that your poster should effectively communicate your work

to the viewers.

Title

Your poster title, names of the authors (you may use only first name),

department and institution should be positioned at top-center of the poster. Titles/

designations are unnecessary. The name of the presenting author should be first

and in bold letters. Lettering for the title should be large (at least 70-point font). Do

not use all the capital letters for the title/ legends.

Poster organization

The poster can be organized as per your abstract

If you are sharing a research or inquiry, please use the following format:

Introduction (background and objectives)

Methodology

Results

Conclusions

Please indicate the direction to the viewers. The poster generally should be read

from left to right, and top to bottom- either numbering the individuals panels, or

connect them with arrows.

Make judicious use of open space between individual panels. Avoid too much

of crowding.

Text

The poster should be clearly visible from distance of 1-2 m. Use a minimum font

size of 18-20 points. Use larger size font for the Conclusion text and a smaller

size for Methods text.

Be consistent- use same font throughout.

Page 9: “One Vision, One Voice: Join hands to end malnutrition”

Keep the introduction/ context brief. Instead of narration, you may use bullet-

point list. Present only enough data to support your conclusions. On the other

hand, make sure that you present sufficient data to support your conclusions.

You may bring handouts to provide additional details about your study to the

audience.

Double space all text, using left-justification; text with even left sides and jagged

right sides is easiest to read.

Reference list may be given at the end of the poster.

Visuals

Use self-explanatory "visuals" (graphs, photographs, schematics, maps, etc.)

to emphasize your methods and findings. Visuals should be visible easily from a

minimum distance of 6 feet.

Make sure that the text and the visuals are integrated. Avoid repetition of the

matter in the text and table.

If you select table-form to present the data, keep it simple.

Graph axes or columns/rows of the table should be appropriately labelled.

Explain the symbols, if used.

Each visual should bear an appropriate legend.

Colours

Use colours to enhance your poster but restrain overuse of multiple colours.

Muted colours, or shades of gray, are best for background. Use light background

for darker photos, darker background for lighter photos.

Use a neutral background (gray) to emphasize colour in photos, a white

background to reduce impact of coloured photos.

B. Guidelines for poster mounting

The accepted posters are to be put up on the assigned one space provided since

morning on the day of the presentation. They should be made available for

viewing for the entire time allotted and are to be removed after the session is

over.

Information concerning the poster presentation date, time and place will

be communicated to the presenting author before the due date of conference.
