  • PE and Sport GrantBackground

    In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of 150 million

    for physical education (PE) and sport, to be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE

    and sport provision. Funding has been allocated to all maintained and state-funded schools

    with primary phase pupils from 1 September 2013. A typical primary school receives about

    9,250 annually in the academic years 2013/14 and 2014/15. Funding will continue for 2015/16.

    Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and

    breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that

    pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach performance levels they are capable of.

    In 2015/16 our school had received 4327 so far.

    This is how we are using the funding:

    l Participation in after-school clubs We provide at least one club after school and before school.

    On certain nights children have the opportunity to experience new and fun activities and games. (Ranging from year 1 to year 6)

    l Clubs are open to all and adapted to suit all childrens needs. Participation from all is supported and welcomed from the Sports Team.

    l This year Dale has participated in excess of over EIGHTY SPORTING ACTIVITIES, such as City festivals, county and regional competitions. Also school to school friendly

    sporting events and this year school games event held at Trent College. Our committment to sport is reflected in our many achievements, this year they are:

    Cricket County Champions

    Table tennis county champions

    Individual table tennis county champion

    Tri Golf City Champions

    Tag Rugby County qualifiers

    City-runners up in rounder and basketball

    Netball league joint champions

    Ks1 Football Champions and runners-up

    Mini red Tennis City Runners-up

    Mini Tennis city Champions

    The impact of additional funding on improving the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision:

    l Foot-golf (invited to the grand opening of foot-golf at Markeaton Park).

    l Boocia, Curling and ice skating.

    l Represented Derby West in Derby schools games held at Trent College. Tri Golf and Mini Red Tennis.

    l We offer a FUN AND FITNESS CLUB (a chance for children to take part in sporting activities every holiday)

    Qualifications for Staff:

    l Level 5-Proffesional qualification in Primary school physical education and subject leadership.

    l Level 3- Professional qualification in Supporting the delivery of Physical Education
