2007 Dr. T. J. Bryan resigned as Chancellor on July 23, 2007

2007 Dr. Lloyd V. Hackley was named Interim Chancellor by UNC President Erskine Bowles and started his duties effective July 23, 2007

2008 Dr. James A. Anderson was selected as the eleventh chief executive officer and started his duties on June 9, 2008

2012 FSU is the only UNC campus that houses both a traditional and an International Early College High School.

2012 FSU opens a new 338-bed state-of-the-art Renaissance Residence Hall

2014 FSU opens the newly renovated Rudolph Jones Student Center, an 82,000 square feet state-of-the-art building.

Greetings to the mighty Class of 2019 and welcome to the Bronco Nation! Fayetteville State University is committed to the development of well-rounded students that will graduate and become productive leaders that make important contributions to society. Therefore, it is critical that you maximize your time here at FSU and develop your critical thinking skills, talents and abilities.

In an effort to assist you as you begin your journey at Fayetteville State University; we have designed Orientation to equip you with important information that will help you be successful and graduate. Therefore, it is with this vision that this year’s orientation theme is “Broncos 101: Project Graduation.” Throughout the orientation process, you will be presented with “tips” that will serve as guidelines for you to follow as a student towards a successful pathway to graduation in May 2019. During your matriculation here at FSU, we encourage you to stay focused academically, involved in campus life and the community, and BroncoFIT. Most importantly, you will quickly learn that FSU provides a quality education that will make you proud to be an FSU Bronco today, at graduation, and forever more as alumni!

The goals of Fayetteville State University New Student Orientation are to:

As one of the oldest universities in North Carolina, you are joining an academic community that is steeped in tradition and pays a particular homage to our past, but also prepares you for success. You have a wonderful opportunity for developing new relationships when you become a member of the Bronco Family and I encourage you to actively participate in your

community. Among the first people to greet you at FSU will be your Resident Assistant (RA) and your Orientation Leader (OL). These students are great resources for navigating the campus and for answering any questions or concerns.

Our theme this year is Broncos 101: Project Graduation. Our focus is to give you the tools necessary to develop skills in scholarship, leadership and service so that you may graduate as well-rounded Broncos. What this means is that as a Bronco, we would like you to succeed academically by always striving for high academic honors, assuming leadership roles and responsibilities by getting involved in different clubs and organizations, and giving back to your community through dedicated service. Upon arrival, you will be introduced to the University’s expectations and to your responsibilities as new members of our continued legacy of excellence here at FSU. It is our anticipation that you, as a selected group of students, will demonstrate high-achieving behaviors and become future leaders of the world. Broncos 101: Project Graduation will prepare you to become that leader, as long as you take ownership of your role in becoming active in scholarship, leadership and service.

The Division of Student Affairs offers a supportive and stimulating environment. Class of 2019, you will receive a great deal of freedom and you are expected to respond respectfully and maturely to the FSU responsibilities and the FSU Student Handbook. We look forward to greeting you at our New Student Orientation on August 15, 2015. The information provided will introduce you to the FSU community and provide a tentative schedule of events planned for Freshman Orientation. Be sure to read the enclosed materials and make note that locations are subject to change. A final schedule of events will be provided upon check-in with additional tools to help you maneuver the campus. Finally, take note of the Broncos 101 Tips sprinkled throughout the pages, as they exist to aid you in your journey to overall preparedness and fitness for life here at FSU.

You are now an official Fayetteville State University Bronco and I am delighted to serve you as the Program Director of the Student Activities Council (SAC) during the 2015-2016 academic year. The FSU Student Activities Council plans, implements, and executes activities and events that will provide you with everlasting memories and an enjoyable experience during your time here at our beloved University.

Founded in 1994, The Student Activities Council gives students opportunities to create events for our fellow Broncos. Throughout the year, SAC hosts many activities such as: bowling nights, campus dances, and tailgate parties. We also implement major weeks such as: Welcome Week, Homecoming, and Rodeo Week in April. Also, the freshman class elects two of their very own to contribute to student leadership as members of the Student Activities Council, so be sure to apply when the time comes.
