• lf the filter indicator lamp lights up, inspectall the filters and clean or replace inaccordance with the Instructions for Use.

Fakir VARIO-FILTER-SYSTEMThe Fakir Vario filter system can be speciallyadjusted to suit particular needs or formsof use.The user can replace or, depending onrequirements, exchange all or any of thefilter elements at any time andindependently of each other. The systemensures that any dirt containing smellysubstances or germs is trapped by thereplaceable working filters, all of which arelocated in the filter compartment of themachine. As a result, no dust or fibres canget into the motor compartment(encapsulated system) and lodge there.

The Fakir Vario filter system consists of thefollowing filters (see illustration above):

A Micro-Power-FilterThis filter traps coarse and fine dirt of allkinds. The sealing system prevents anyescape of the contents when the full filteris removed.

B Micro main filterUltra fine dust, which is able to penetratethrough the walls of the replaceable paper

filter, is trapped by the main micro filter.This also serves as a prefilter and protectsthe downstream filter elements.

C FILTER UNITSThe MICRO VARIO filter cassette serves toaccommodate a filter unit. One of these isindispensable, i.e. the vacuum cleaner mustnot be used unless a filter unit has beeninstalled. The MICRO VARIO filter cassettecan be used with any one of the followingtypes of filter unit:Motor protection filter (colour: black)This filter ensures that no coarse dirt getsinto the housing if the paper filter is defectiveand no main micro filter has been installedin the cassette. If required, this unit can becleaned with water, dried and reinstalledin the cassette.Activated carbon filter (colour: grey)This is a high quality, activated charcoalfilter unit which is intended, in particular, totrap any smelly substances contained indust and dirt, thus making an importantcontribution to improved air quality(recommended for households with pets).High efficiency submicron particulate airfilter (colour: green)This high performance filter traps the finestparticles (particulates) of 0.3 microns insize, almost entirely. The filtration effect isso good that the air coming out of themachine contains less dust than the air inthe room. The HEPA filter should alwaysbe used when vacuum cleaning must becarried out to demanding standards ofhygiene and room air purity.Micro vario combination filter (colour: red)This filter combines the effects of anactivated carbon filter with those of a highefficiency submicron particulate air filter.

D Micro exhaust air filterThis filter is not located in the filtercompartment (dust compartment), butdownstream of the motor under the exhaust

air grille, it serves the purpose of trappingthe dust resulting from the abrasion of themotor carbon brushes.

Replacement intervalsIn order to ensure consistently efficientsuction and dust filtration and to minimizesmells, we recommend that filters and filterunits be replaced at the intervals specifiedbelow or at the latest when the filterreplacement display indicates that this isdue, even though a new paper filter andmicro filter may have been installed.

• Main micro filter / exhaust air micro filterAfter the contents of a paper filter packhave been used (you will find acorresponding replacement filter in thepaper filter pack)

• Activated charcoal filter / micro variocombination filter After 6 to 12 months,depending on use.

• High efficiency particulate air filter After aperiod of 18 months to 2 years (providedthe paper and main micro filters areregularly replaced).

Opening of the dust compartmentlidFor exchange offilter, pressopening key andraise dustcompartment liduntil it snaps in.

Exchange of paper filter / Micro-Power-FilterPress the dust compartment release buttonand raise the lid. Slightly raise the usedfilter by the swivelling holder, pull off thefilter (the filter opening is automaticallyclosed) and dispose of, unfolded, in thewaste bin.

Insert the new filter into the filtr holder bythe cardboard disc, pushing it to the rearas far as it will go. Lower the filter holderonto the rests at the sides and re-close thedust compartment lid.

Exchange of the micro main filterOpen the filter compartment, remove thepaper filter and swivel the filter holderupwards until it locks into position. Removethe MICRO VARIO filter cassette from thefilter compartmentand open thecassette grille.Replace the mainmicro filter andclose the cassettegrille so that it locks.Reinstall the filtercassette and paperfilter and close the dust compartment.

Replacing the filter unitsOpen the filter compartment, remove thepaper filter, swivel the filter holder upwardsuntil it locks and remove the MICRO VARIOfilter cassette with filter unit from the filtercompartment.Remove a new filterunit from its pack,remove theprotective foil andinsert it into the filtercassette so that itfits precisely.Reinstall the filter cassette and paper filterand close the dust compartment.

Exchange of the micro exhaust air filter

Press the release button and remove theexhaust air grid. Then remove thecontaminated filter and dispose ofaccording to the corresponging regulations.Put in a newmicro exhaustairfilter into thegridcompartment.Position the gridat an angle, pushforwards as far asit will go, then press down until the catchis heard to lock home.

Telescopic tubeThe telescopic tube can be adjusted to therequired lenght. Push the telescopic tubeuntil only one stop notch is visible, sinceotherwise the handle is pushed out of thetube end.

Crevice nozzleThe crevice nozzle is an effectiveattachment for vacuuming deep slots inupholstery, skirting boards, ledges, cornersetc.

Heating element brushThe heatingelement brush fitsonto the crevicenozzle and can beused to clean thefins of radiators.

Upholstery nozzleThe upholsterynozzle can beused to cleancurtains,upholsterdfurniture andnarrow crevices.It features aspecial thread rake which picks up evenminute specks of fluff and thread instantly.

Turbo suction brushThe turbo suction brush is used for themaintenance of small areas with carpets orfitted carpeting. It brushes dirt as well asfluffs and pieces of thread out of the pile.If the brush roller becomes obstructed bybulky material or solid objects (fluff, nails,drawing pins etc.) open the lid on theunderside, remove the obstruction and re-close the lid.

Cleaning the applianceDisconnect the appliance at the mainssocket. Clean the appliance only with a dryor damp cloth. Never immerse it in water.Also clean the filter compartment with adamp cloth when necessary.
