Flexible and adaptable with a love of the outdoors, I thrive within a dynamic, pressurized and constantly changing environment, spending the first 5 years of my working life in the Army, joining Balfour Beatty in 2001 as a Road Maintenance Operative, prior to starting my Linesman career. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

MAY 2015-PRESENT – SELF-EMPLOYED LEVEL 1 ROPE ACCESS TECHNICIAN – A2M SAFETY Carrying out building maintenance and cleaning on commercial or industrial buildings and structures, using a variety of access methods from rope access, fall arrest and MEWPs. Work has included checking roof bolts, jet washing and cleaning steel cladding roofs, installing edge protection and guardrails using freestanding or fixed guardrail systems, and most recently fitting the VersiRail guardrail system to buildings at The University of the West of England to allow safe access to the roof top for maintenance and inspection.

FEB 2013–APR 2015 – JOURNEYMAN - RS LINE CONSTRUCTION LTD, CANADA

As a journeyman in Canada on various projects in the province of Alberta The main project of work has been the 500kv Western Alberta transmission line, having mainly been assembling and erecting single circuit dead end towers ranging in weight from 50t up to 162t, also erecting the type B, C and E towers using a mobile 275t crane. From setting out a work area and laying out of the packs of steel ready for sorting and assembling, once assembled into liftable sections carrying out the erection of the tower. Helicopter operations carrying out rigging, test lifting and preparation works for flying of towers using the Erickson air crane and then back bolting once structures have been flown. Genesee power plant erected two P52 double circuit star leg towers with a weight of 190t and height of 240ft Langdon substation and diversion works assemble and erect 2 120t F type Towers and dismantle 1 existing tower, erect 15 steel mono poles and string and backhang ready for sagging operations.

MAR 2005–FEB 2013 – LEADING HAND LINESMAN – BALFOUR BEATTY UTILITY SOLUTIONS, RAYNESWAY, DERBY

As leading hand linesman in a winch gang carrying out rewiring and refurbishment on 66k 132kv, 275kv and 400kv projects. Day to day duties include undertaking site and task risk assessments, adhering to work instructions and method statements. Running a platform gang carrying out backhanging and sagging operations also supervising all lifting and lowering operations. I am also involved in steel changing and tower strengthening operations working from drawing and plans to client specifications. Throughout my time as a linesman I have carried out a variety of jobs from blocking and clipping, spacering and de-spacering to assembling and erecting of towers. Having recently been involved in the diversion works and tower erection and dismantling for the London 2012 Olympics.

OCT 2001-MAR 2005 – BALFOUR BEATTY RAYNESWAY CONSTRUCTION – TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT OPERATIVE

Working as part of a three man team implementing the deployment and removal of traffic management on high speed roads and dual carriageways. Responding to out of hours’ emergency callouts on the motorway network, from debris on the carriageway to major incidents. In the winter months going on a callout rota to take part in winter maintenance and gritting operations.
