TERM 2 ISSUE 9 25th June 2020
Easing of COVID-19 Restrictions
Recently the Secretary of the Department of Education, Mr Mark Scott, announced that there will be further easing of COVID-19 restrictions at the start of Term 3 (Tuesday, July 21st). From this date schools can resume the following: Scripture, school sport and activities and some interschool events. This year our school athletics carnival will be held in the second week of Term 3 with further details to be provided closer to the date. Selection trials for field event finals have been held during Term 2 for our students who are 8 years and older. At this stage there is no confirmation regarding the re-opening of district level or higher Athletics Championships in 2020.
At this point in time parents are still asked to drop off and pick up students from outside the school.
Athletics Rotations
In recent weeks, WPS students have been taking part in selection trials for high jump, long jump, discus and shotput for the field events component of the athletics carnival.

Head Lice
The start of a new term is always a good opportunity to reduce the prevalence of head lice in the community. All families are encouraged to check their children’s hair for head lice and if necessary, treat prior to returning to school for term three.
Head lice are extremely contagious, and kids are
the most susceptible this season... Did you know that 95% of lice are
transmitted through close contact? Head lice do not hop, jump or fly and can only be transmitted from one person to another by either close head to head contact through sharing of objects such as hats, clothing, ribbons, head bands or pillows. Head Lice Prevention is key! 7 Crucial Steps to Keep Your School Head Lice Free: 1. Check hair regularly 2. Avoid sharing clothing: especially hats, ribbons, head bands and helmets 3. Discourage children from playing with each other's hair 4. Don't share brushes, combs, towels and pillows 5. Keep long hair plaited or firmly tied back to prevent contact from other kids
