Fifth Sunday of Easter

Although we are five full weeks into the celebration of Easter, today's readings focus on newness. Our Easter food leftovers may be long gone, but the readings insist on every moment's freshness in the risen Jesus. The Acts of the Apostles depicts Paul and Barnabas reflecting on all the innovative work that God has done with them. They have traveled hundreds of miles, in-troducing faith in Jesus Christ to all who listen, even Gentiles. For the dutiful Jewish scholar Paul, preaching to Gentiles is a completely unique development. Jesus calls Paul, and us, not to be afraid of new challenges: as John the Evan-gelist reports in Revelation, Jesus promises to make all things new. In the Gospel reading, Jesus even gives us a new commandment. The Hebrew Scriptures overflow with command-ments, but Jesus knows we need one more, per-fect mission: love one another. Copyright (c) J. PRIMERAS COMUNIONES Muchas felicidades a nuestros niños y niñas quienes el pasado sábado 11 de este mes hicieron realidad su gran deseo de recibir a Jesus, por primera vez en sus vidas. Dios les conceda la gracia de per-macer siempre unidos a El. Como preparación al sacramento de confir-mación, nuestros jóvenes asistieron a un retiro de tres días en Mount Hermon, en Santa Cruz. Gracias a las personas que colaboraron comprando boletos para la rifa del televisor, cuyo proposito fue ofrecerles apoyo económico para hacer posible la asistencia al retiro. Continuemos orando también por nuestros jóvenes que se preparan para confirmar su fe, el 15 de Junio de este año.

MISIONEROS DE MISERICORDIA

¡Regresó Pablo! Después del violento abuso de la semana pasada, los oponentes organizaron una muchedumbre de linchamiento que golpeó casi hasta la muerte a Pablo. Sin embargo, llama Pablo el evangelista en-ergizante , transformando la crueldad mortal en un fervor vivificante. El valor pasado de Pablo debe inspirarnos a nuestro compromiso; el Apo-calipsis futuro nuevo cielo, nueva tierra debe inspirar nuestro optimismo. Pero el Apocalipsis presente nos asegura: Esta es la morada de Dios entre los hombres , debe desafiarnos a hacernos misioneros de misericordia .

Ya que el Papa Francisco declaró que la credibilidad de la Iglesia está completamente de-pendiendo de nuestra muestra incondicional de misericordia. La misericordia, como dice Fran-cisco, hace la Iglesia, el mundo y a cada uno joven otra vez, despertando a las virtudes más no-bles de la vida. De manera apropiada, en el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús refuerza ese tema: Así sa-brán todos que ustedes son mis discípulos, si se aman unos a los otros .

Thông Điệp Phục Sinh Urbi et Orbi 2019

Anh chị em thân mến, mừng lễ Chúa Phục Sinh!

Xin cho những người dân ở Đông Ucraina, đang phải gánh chịu những cuộc xung đột vẫn tiếp tục diễn ra, được tìm thấy niềm an ủi trong lễ Phục Sinh này. Xin Thiên Chúa thêm sức cho những sáng kiến nhân đạo và những người theo đuổi hoà bình lâu dài.

Trong lễ Phục sinh này, ước gì nhân dân các khu vực phía đông Ukraine sẽ tìm thấy sự an ủi, nơi tiếp tục phải chịu đựng cuộc xung đột đang diễn ra. Xin Thiên Chúa khuyến khích các sáng kiến nhân đạo nhằm tiến tới nền hòa bình lâu dài.

Xin cho niềm vui Phục sinh đổ tràn con tim của người dân châu Mỹ, đang phải gánh chịu hậu quả của những tình cảnh khó khăn về chính trị và kinh tế. Tôi đặc biệt nghĩ tới người dân Venezuela: nhiều người đang thiếu những điều kiện tối thiểu để có một cuộc sống xứng đáng và an toàn, bởi cuộc khủng hoảng vẫn đang diễn ra và ngày càng trầm trọng hơn. Xin Thiên Chúa ban cho những người có trách nhiệm chính trị biết cố gắng phấn đấu để chấm dứt những bất công xã hội, lạm dụng và bạo lực; cũng như biết thực hiện những bước tiến cụ thể để tiến tới hoà giải những chia rẽ và cung ứng cho nhân dân những sự trợ giúp cần thiết.

Xin Chúa Phục Sinh soi sáng cho những nỗ lực đang được thực hiện tại Nicaragua sớm tìm thấy một giải pháp thương lượng và hoà bình vì lợi ích của tất cả những người dân Nicaragua.

Trước nhiều đau khổ của thời đại chúng ta, xin Thiên Chúa của sự sống đừng để chúng ta thờ ơ và lạnh lùng. Xin Người làm cho chúng ta trở nên những người xây những cây cầu, chứ không phải những bức tường. Và xin Người, Đấng ban bình an của Người cho chúng ta, ngăn chặn những cuộc đụng độ vũ trang, trong những vùng chiến tranh và trong các thành phố. Xin Người soi sáng cho những nhà lãnh đạo các quốc gia biết dấn thân để chấm dứt cuộc chạy đua vũ trang và buôn bán vũ khí, đặc biệt tại các nước tiên tiến.

Xin Đấng Phục Sinh, Đấng đã mở toang cánh cửa của những ngôi mộ, cũng mở con tim của chúng ta trước những nhu cầu của những người thiếu thốn, người không được bảo vệ, người nghèo đói, người thất nghiệp, người vô gia cư, những người gõ cửa ngôi nhà chúng ta để xin đồ ăn, xin một nơi ẩn náu, và xin được nhìn nhận phẩm giá của mình.
