Class 上課We had different classes, but we still got

to sit in a class with the rest of the Deguang students. Deguang students have uniforms, which, unfortunately, I do not have a picture of.

Page 3: Staying at Deguang

What I think 我的感想I think Taiwan class is a little boring,

because it’s all work, no hands on activities or getting up and things like that. They were all reviewing when I was there, because they have a big test coming up.

Erhu, straw animals, and weaving二胡 吸管動物 手工藝We tried to learn erhu. It was fun to learn.

We also wove bracelets and made seahorses and dragons out of straws.

Page 5: Staying at Deguang

What I think 我的感想The erhu is almost the hardest

instrument on the planet to me. It was impossible not to make it to sound like a dying goat. The group played a very nice ukulele song for us. The bracelets and straw animals was really cool and fun.

Cooking class 烹飪

We made rice tube cake, dumplings, and soup.

Page 7: Staying at Deguang

What I think 我的感想

I’m glad we only had 3 dishes, not 9. The food was good, but it was also a lot. I wish we could of gotten to cook more. I got a little bored when we were waiting for it to cook.

Diabolo 扯鈴 We had diabolo class, and the two girls

that taught us were really nice, and I learned a lot.

Page 9: Staying at Deguang

What I think 我的感想Diabolo is really fun, and I even tried the

tuoluo, which is harder. The sisters were really nice, and let us take home the ones we used as souvenirs.

Page 10: Staying at Deguang

Calligraphy and paper cutting 書法剪紙We learned how to write traditional

calligraphy and cut paper like Chinese do for new years’ or any special event.

Page 11: Staying at Deguang

What I think 我的感想It was very fun, but I don’t think I did a

very good job. It also surprises me how much you can do with a piece of paper and a pair of scissors.

Historic sites 歷史古蹟

We went to a lot of places, like Confucius temple, Shi kan lou, and even more temples.

And a church.

Page 13: Staying at Deguang

What I think 我的感想

The temples are very interesting and pretty, and Shi kan lou has a lot of history, but after a while it all looks the same. The Chinese style church is different then what I’m used to.
