IAIN has a lack of facilities. The need of large and appropriate

auditorium is not fulfilled. Some seminars are often held in a non

appropriate place where audiences must stand because [when]

lack of competition in this campus especially in term of knowledge

development section makes [led to the fact that] the quality of

students is low. Finally, the administration service in this campus

Architecture in Nature

Allah created the nature long before the creation of human.

Allah created it as facilities for human life. Besides, He shows His

authority to them. In the nature there are many amazing things

which can be found. The beautiful landscape of mountains, seas

Interesting Experiences

Since I had begun to teach the students at vocational high school

SMK N 1 Serang, I was really delightful that I have been given a

great chance to improve my language by teaching and working

collaboratively with all the teachers over there. The teachers are

very friendly, welcome and very kind to me.

It needs too much time to make friendship with every teacher. I

should have a great struggle to be familiarized to the new

environment and people where [with whom] I already work.

Actually I want to tell about my experiences as a new English

teacher who can be co-opted by the committee of school. In the

first time I taught students, I had nice impressions. Do you know?

There many students were enthusiastically interested to me. I do

not know the possible reason why they really want to recognize me

much closer. then some teachers [then] told me that you not to [I

ought not to feel] strange right here because female students were

more dominant than males.

As a new comer I often consult with all teachers that [who] work

much longer than me. I realized that I do not have enough

experience at teaching. , but [However] I wish I could be one better

among teachers [one of the best teachers]. First thing that I already

done is how to observe teaching strategy in studying process. Most

of the teachers are used to teach the students by speech. This is

teacher-centered method, where in other word the students only

of certain theory.

I can guess whether the students will be [are] bored in such

condition, because so far as I know that standard competence in

curriculum 2009 is refersred to students speaking. This means that

students must be more active to express their own thoughts, ideas

and feelings. So it is the main assignment for all teachers how to

improve and develop teaching strategy for students achievement

in the study process.

Basically there are many ways in teaching language classroom

such as: role play, silent way, group-work, discussion in small-

group and conversation. Some of strategies can be conducted in

teaching language. However there will be great chances to increase

knowledge in teaching language by using an appropriate strategy

in order to get satisfactory learning for improving students ability

in understanding English language.

The impression of IAIN

I have been studying in IAIN since 2006. I take an English

department for my studying [major]. I enjoy studying English. This

is not only due to the fact that because my lecturers are very kind

but also and they are master in [have very good command of]

English. It will [this could] will support my English competency.

Although I sometime feel anxious with my campus because the

management of IAIN is not good, such as management of class,

IP,KRS, etc. besides the lack of fasilitates can affect the students'

skill but I love my campus. [I love my campus, despite of the fact

that it is ill-managed especially in term of class management,

Students Index of Achievement, Students Registration Card, etc.

Besides, it has lack of facilities to support class process.]

I proud of studying in IAIN because I have gotten [get] many

valuable things such as [memorable] experiences, knowledge,

friendship, fraternity, etc. [Above all] and the greatest thing is that

IAIN and Islamic Habit

When we entering to the State Institute for Islamic Studies

(IAIN), we have to make [have] a different understanding of

between Islam as the best religion and the people of IAIN as

Moslem community. because Islam as a religion, Islam has clear

[distinctive] rules to manage the Moslem life: . From the simple

thing of life like how to manage our daily activities, to make

relationship with the people and God. etc, Islam has the rule. As a

Moslem community, we must follow the rules to get the reward

from Allah. If we do not [observe] the teachings of Islam, we will

be punished by the God. absolutely will give us a punishment

namely a sin.

IAIN As an Islamic institution, IAIN is supposed to should

practice Islamic values to show that Islam is the best religion

having the best values for managing the people in the world. It will

be a prototype of the real ofIslam. But I do not see it. We never

show that we are a Moslem community [that is] having concerned

to [with] the Islam as our social reality. Because of the fact that we

never use Islam as way of our life. We [Our] belief isjust confined

[merely] in our mouth [words], [and not [implemented] in [by] our

action.

Why I said like that? This is well reflected by the fact Everyone

knows that IAIN is a rubbish sea. There are many types of

rubbish in everywhere we see. We always say that that cleanliness

is a part of the faith. [a Friday summon preaches only a nonsense

remark]bullshit thing we preach every Friday on the pulpit. We

just command the people to do a thing thatbut we do not do it

ourselves.

So I thinkwe have to change [our own habit] of habitual of

ourselves to show that Islam does not teach us to have is not dirty

environment. Islam is the best answer[solution] of the world

like rubbishproblem. It is not supposed to be around our institute

if the rector is concerned with the cleanliness of his campus by As

an Islamic Institution having a leader, all of the problems can be

solved if the leader wants to striving himself to handle it. Unless

this problem is solved, the impression of people on IAIN as the

prototype of Islamic institution will not change. But if he has not a

desire to show the real Islam, we see the judgment of the people to

IAIN as the prototype of Islamic Institution. It means that IAIN has

made a bad image to Islam as the way of life.

The Human and Technology

Human and technology are two cases that can not be separated.

with our life in this century.In our environment, we lookeveryone

makes use of technological products to help his activities: y such

as forwashing, typing, walking, etc., going everywhere, etc.

was created to get easy of our life.

Many advantages the advancement ofwhen the technology is

going forward. The led people to save a lot ofdoes not spend his

many times, much money, and energy to do everything. With [the

world in a day is not only our imagination but it can be done by

of human, animal, and air, it is difficult to answer a question: how

It makes [us] far easier to communicate with other people in this

world. We can make a chat with everyone without having to meet

In the plant,production machine also we can see how the machine

can produce the goods needed by the people in 24 hours without

stopping. It is impossible if it is done by the people who , because

the people have limited energy to work 24 hours. Likewise, On

the other hand, we can see also people make use of the tractorused

to plow up their rice field or unirrigated agricultural field.It needs

only a little time to do it if it is in comparison with the people or

buffalo power. In essential, that the first time the technology is

Anyway, To sum up, it is worthy to note that technology is

CONDUCTING A RESEARCH

Many students of IAIN Banten campus have difficulties to

conduct a research in the end of their study. This research will be

one of the requirements by fulfilling which they could to graduate.

Firstly, they are hard to understand what they must do. They tend

to think the simplest problem they faced in their daily life. Many

sources (books, magazines, newspaper, etc) do not help them to

open [improve] their ability. Secondly, the students do not like

reading so much. It can be proved from library data. From year to

year, the sum [number] of students who love reading is relatively

little. The library will be [is] crowded only when the students need

it.

Concerning to conduct a research in junior or senior high

school, the students should prepare themselves many applications,

books, newest information. To determine a little for a research also

the students are hard. I can also be caused by many problems [not

clear]; one of them is less of reading.

Students who study in campus should understand how to

conduct a research well. It [this] is important because they will not

find difficulties when they are facing a serious research. The

research should be logic and understandable. It is also proportional

to do so.

Conducting a research will be easy when the students

understand the field of research. Besides, they will get good

guidelines after comprehending every sides of research. It is a must

for students to understand the advantages and disadvantagesbefore

[of] conducting a research. Therefore, the students will not find

difficulties to do research.

In research, the students should have much serious thought,

give contribution, make an innovative research and bring the

research to a good goal. Hopefully, the research which is done in

academic life could will have good change people to have into a

good life.

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence has become a real threat for all people in the

world, especially women and children. Usually, domestic violence

happens to the unhealthy family where the father plays the biggest

role in the family. The father thinks that the power is in their[his]

hands. If we referring to the Holy Quran, we understand that the

position offather or man functions is as the leader in the family or

in the society. However,but if we take a look to the present days,

we can see that many women and wives play a role in the society,

even it is not as big as what the men have. The men always take

do is domestic violence.

As it is explained before, first, we need to define what domestic

violence is. Domestic violence is the circumstance where the

husband or wife do things that make both of them suffer. Domestic

violence often happens to those who do not have love,

compassions, or self of belonging to their spouse and children.

There are two kinds of domestic violence: ; they are verbal

violence and physical violence. Verbal violence is a kind of

domestic violence which [in a form of] words and sentences used

to that refer to inappropriate meaning in order to ruin the image of

their spouse or to underestimate their spouses self esteem. This

verbal violence does not always happen to the couple but to the

children as well. The children will begin to feel under pressure and

they will also begin to become introvert to their society. The

second is physical violence. The physical violence is such a real

image [representation] of the domestic violence we are discussed

[ing]. This violence and it is a real threaten to the humans life.

Physical violence is always related to physical things, such as

hitting, slapping, and even in some cases the couple is able to

killing each other.

We need to take a lookto [at] some problems that cause domestic

violence. There are some factors that make someone do the

domestic violence: ; such as economic, the strong self of

In order to prevent the domestic violence, we need to try to prevent

it with some ways. There are some solutions to prevent the

domestic violence in our society, such as giving the understandings

to the people, especially the married couple to love their spouse is

the first example. Secondly, to give their spouse the compassions

and to tell them that family should be the priority in their lives. It

is noteworthy thatbecause once someone decided to get married,

then he or she should be devoted to their couple.

With this kind of situation, it is such a necessary for us to start to

think about the solutions to the problems. It is not only the

responsibility should not only be born by our government but also

My The Impressions of[on] IAIN SMH BANTEN

I started to study in IAIN SMH Banten in 2005. I have taken

English Education and Letters Faculty. In IAIN I have found a lot

of friends. In the first year I have some difficulties in dealing with

some of the lessons, especially new subject matter, such as that

I took because the lessons were something new for me. The topics

discussed by some of the lecturers are easy to understand but some

of them are not. Some lecturers are discipline and some of them

are not especially if it [when they] deals with the grades. The idea

that I chose IAIN as a place to continue my studybecause it came

[comes] from my friends reference; she said that the school fee

[tuition] in IAIN was cheaper than any other colleges in Serang.

but [However,] when I had my entrance test, I found out that the

fee [tuition] was not like what I thought. With that kind of

situation, I began to realize that I should study as hard as I can

because the fee [tuition] wasnt [not] cheap at all.

But then, after few years studied [Having studied for few years], I

knew [found out] that there are some scholarship programs that

IAIN offers to the students. I knew that not all colleges offer the

same thing as IAIN offers. So [Finally], I could say that studying

in IAIN is not as bad as I thought before because I knew what the

meaning of hard workis.

IAIN Banten through My Eyes

To [for the] people who live in Banten, to know IAIN Banten

is should not to be something new because IAIN hasbeen existed

more than three decades. But to me as a person who was born in

Banten unfortunately its [is] surely new [However, for me as a

person who was born in Banten, the information on IAIN is surely

new]. I left Banten when I was 13 years old and then went back

home afterI finished [completing my study at] senior high school

in 2005. After having been advised by With suggestion from my

parents, I decided to do my degree [take undergraduate program] at

IAIN. I chose withmajorEnglish education as my major.

At that time I have less information about university [high

education] in Banten. so I asked some of my friends do whether or

not they know IAIN or not?. I am amazed when they know what is

IAIN and where is IAIN is. Accordingly,but they all explain it all

with no interest [indifferently]. This has led me to I then get my

first impression to [on] IAIN that this university is not a favorite

university in Banten even though some students need to try harder

to study in IAIN.

Later after I have passed the tests to enter IAIN, I focused on

my study. I spent around four years and a half there and just

graduated on last January.[Having studied for about four years and

a half], I graduated. As a fresh graduate student, I started to ask

my friends about job where I can work for? What comment [the

response] I got from my friends then is still the same like when I

asked IAIN for the first time. IAIN is assumed as disreputable

university. The strangest expression comes from some government

officers in Banten which made a label for IAIN graduate student

[who regard IAIN graduates] as ineligible student [ones] to work in

their office. I have anger to [am against] their assumption. They do

not have right to judge somebody before they knowing further

ones skills and knowledge.

Moreover, I am still optimistic about [with] my future. I

started to searching job in newspaper as well as internet. I assumed

peoples remarks words about IAIN are not always true. I build my

confidence so as to twist their assumption to become a fact. Let us

me or all of us perform our ability to others because we have more

skills than they need if we want to dig deeper. People outside IAIN

may have different ways of views on us thinking from ours. or

even it may be can be categorized as underestimate,but we should

be sure that we are the only ones who know better about IAIN.

PEOPLE

Nowadays, some of Indonesian people look like outbreak of

[undergo] facebook syndromes. Of course we can say like that

because most of them ever try or might be have this website. In

fact, facebook is not something new for everyone in Indonesia.

Based on the research [according to the recent research],

every element of the society (started from adults, teenagers,

housewives, clerks, even students) can be as apart for this

[become part of this] social net service. Actually theres [is] no

problem for[of] this phenomena. because with this service offers

us information instead. We can get good things, we get an

opportunity to find our old friends. , also [Likewise, we could

make] new friends that we haven t know before for making a

everything or maybe just asking for job, advertising, also

sometimes we will get an information such as an invitation for

our friends wedding, etc. or another important announcement

which can make us easy, etc. Thats the positive things from

facebook.

But the conditions became worst However, when this social

net service [facebook] is used as a tool for something bad, there

will be . There are so many problems. which caused of facebook.

Recently, In the mass media or on the television we often hear that

about a girl was kidnapped by someone. For instance like what

happened to Nova she was kidnapped by Ari. She has knew Ari

from the facebook, at beginning she just trying to look for a new

friend, but then Ari ask her to met in one place, after they have

met, Ari was doing impeachment to her, and this case leaked out

and still in the process in police station. Another story happened to

Chyntia, she is a student of Airlangga University for Doctoral

, but its slightly different with Nova and Ary, they decided to get

married without their parents and their familys permission.

Chynta has lost for several day until make all of her family

member sad. Than the police officer found them in one place. And

the case is still in the process.

Facebook could also help the syndicate of prostitution to

increase their network. Another story came from another region,

there were the sindicate of prostitution which using this media for

making a transaction with their costumer, they put the photos of

the girls, also write the name and the telephone numbers for each

girls, so the costumers can choose and book them easily. But this

crime had been solved by the police. And there were still many

abuse which caused from this media.

four or five years ago has became something [made the parents in

USA] worried for the parents in America, because it can be used

happened. And I think this is terrible. So, actually whats the

matter with facebook? at Finally, it can be concluded that in one

side facebook can be a tool for the good things, but on the other

hand it will be something terrible. And maybe the answer is its

depend to [on] our self. we know that all of the technology,

including that of information, have [has] usefulness and also

sometimes caused inflicted a loss upon the people. Than based on

the fact above the parents should be more pay more attention in

orderto protect their children. Taking this in mind, And also for all

of us lets [us] make this media as the valuable things from which

we can benefit help us so we can get more the advantages from it.

Kaws teenagers. In this rite, which every teenagers should be

would help them to protect their selves from the enemy. However,

that is the way they survive [conserve] their culture from

extinction. They live with their culture which become part of their

life for many centuries. So by the existence of their culture which

they are proud of it. They were known [are well known for their

strict adherence to their culture and tradition]. by many people

wholeover the world.

Group sharing of knowledge and responsibilities is

integral to the Native American lifestyle. Generosity is valued,

especially in helping others who are less fortunate, according to

Native American tradition, equality of position, title, or material

possessions (Axelson, 1985). However, so far gathering and

woman differently. Everybody has the same responsibility. For

Perhaps, everybody might be face the difficult situation like

solving problem. Like the Tsunami disaster which destroyed in

Aceh, Indonesia in 2004, for instance, has led more than 15000 to

Indonesia. So they need a lot attention from many peoples. In

Nowadays, football is not only a sport, but has been

developing become an industry field. A football match can produce

income not only from selling tickets, merchandises but also from

broadcasting right per match and official team sponsor. According

to President of FIFA, Sepp Blatter, Football has became [become]

a money machine which can print million dollars from every

match.

In contrast, the ironic view sees in Indonesian football

development. Indonesian football having declining, [however,

Indonesian football has its weakness]. it seen from [This is

reflected by the fact that] there is no proud achievement or

prestigious award gained by our beloved national team in

international or regional competition in the latest of [recent]

decade. Only failures recorded inrotten pages of national football

history [records only its failures]. Even, President Indonesia, SBY,

is mad and fed up with it. In an interview he has ever shown to

intention to reform make revolution in PSSI organization structure.

Some factors appear to the public that caused the failures of

stagnant achievement of Indonesian National team. Some

Thus, we repeatedly ask to our deeply hearts [ought to reflect

deeply:] What is wrong with our football? Why we could not gain

better achievement in the latest of decade? Why we could not

participate in the highest level competition like [such as] world

cup, even [whereas] the number of Indonesian population are more

than 200 million people?

Many questions above try to be answered by many sport

journalists [try to answer the questions mentioned above]. For

PSSI as a parent organization of Indonesian football to reduce and

organizing local competitions for students from junior until

university level. In a sport program Koesnaeni he ever [also]

criticizesd PSSIs policy that [to spend] spent a million dollar to

send young players (i.e., under 19) to join Qunita Division

competition in Uruguay. Here again [accordingly], he hopes that

PSSI is [behaves] more seriously in determining and selecting a

foreign football players who are allowed to participate in

Indonesian super League.

Finally, the responsibility to the development ofIndonesian

football lays not only in the hand of PSSI as a parent organization,

but also in that of all elements of Indonesian society. could be

responsibilities for all elements of society not only PSSI duty as

parent organization. The last but not the least, the writer takes his
