• 1937 born in Taichung County, the town Shimizu

• 1960 her father died so she came into contact with Buddhism

In 1961, Dharma Master Cheng Yen left her family home to embark on the spiritual path

Dharma Master Cheng Yen founded Tzu Chi.

• Founded Tzu Chi poor clinic in1972

• The news magazine TIME has named Master Cheng Yen on its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2010.

Tzu Chi General Hospital

The first Tzu Chi General Hospital was founded on August 17, 1986 and persist the life-respect principles, practicing medical care of patient-orientation in the eastern Taiwan. In May, 1995, Tzu Chi General Hospital was promoted to be the first medical center in eastern Taiwan and received the ISO 9002 certification in March, 2000. It became the only one medical center with ISO 9002 certification among 18 medical centers in Taiwan.

Volunteer Service

Volunteers shall take courses of ’’revocational training’’ and ’’on-the-job-training’’ before serving and when serving in the hospital. The courses include psychology, and basic nursing classes etc.

Monthly is a free magazine that was first published on July 20, 1967. It was originally a bi-monthly four-page newsletter that was published on the 5th and the 20th of every month.

• Tzu Chi is different with other religious group it will be engaged in the educational work ,like Tzu Chi University .but as early as in 1860, the Western missionary then arrived at China to be engaged in the educational work. Along with thorough development which does missionary work, some Missionary school sets up.

• 1.Missionary school's course content has three aspects; first, religious education. The curriculum mainly passes through for the Saint. Why do recycle

20 years ago , plastic products are all around the surrounding of Taiwan and make it dirty .

One of the followers decided to improve the environment. She and her neighbor do recycling. After that more and more people follow them.They use the recycled plastic bottles to make all the other living things.
