3-1. Neumann Jnos Vocational School for IT6)
Slide 1.
Dear Guests!
Welcome to Neumann Jnos Vocational School for IT, welcome to Budapest.
6) Neumann Jnos Vocational School for IT
65
Let me introduce our school.
This is a relatively young school in Hungary, we are celebrating our 20th
anniversary this year.
2
Physical background
30 classrooms, 14 computer labs, 250 computers with Internet access
Library Gym, body building room, sport-yardClub, studio Buffet, canteen
Slide 2.
In the first slide you can see our technical background, as you have already
seen.
3
Intellectual background
Small groups (12-16 students)languagesmathematicsinformatics (1 learner - 1 computer )
Special attention for dropoutsPreparing for competitionsSpecial educational needs inclusively
Slide 3.
There are about 650 students and 60 teachers in the school. Most of the
students are boys , due to our main field, the informatics. We put special
emphasis not only on informatics, but also on mathematics and languages,
so these subjects are taught in small groups. Computer based teaching is
often used during the lessons to create a more motivating atmosphere as
66
well as possibility differentiating.
We pay attention to dropouts and advanced students, giving them extra
classes either to catch up or to prepare for competitions. Students with
special educational needs blind or with hearing impairment or physical
disadvantaged ones are taught inclusively.

Years 11-12. (8 lessons/week) Informatics (web, flash, net) orProgramming (Delphi, Java)
Slide 4.
On entering the school at the age of 14, students can choose a 4 year long
purely vocational secondary education or a 4 year long vocational education
with an additional intensive language year at the beginning.
The vocational studies cover programming, graphics and web-designing in
the first two years, or the first three years for the intensive language classes.
For two years before the final exam, they can choose: they study IT ( web,
flash and net) or programming (Delphi and Java) mainly this year.

Slide 5.
We are very proud of our students, there are some excellent results on
national and international levels as well.

We consider humanities and sports just as important as IT. In the afternoon,
they can do various sports, and camps in the summer are organised for
those interested in cycling, rowing or languages even in their holidays

Slide 9 ~ 12.
As our main objective is to prepare our students for the final exam, the
matura, which is the entrance exam to higher education and/or labour
market, part of the evaluation of our work can be the results of our
students.
13
Labour market requirements
European Computer Driving LicenseOracle AcademyMicrosoft Academy (from Sept. 2008.)
Slide 13.
The school provides possibility to sit for the European Computer Driving
Exam within the institution, and the school's curriculum is satisfactory to
pass it, students are not required to take extra lessons for extra money.
We belong to the Oracle Academy, and from September 2008 to Microsoft
Academy, so students learn according to the needs of the labour market.
