מסע במרחב ובזמן על פני ההיסטוריה

ועד 19 של חיפה מסוף המאה ה-מחצית

קשה לנוע בצורה מסודרת לאורך ארבעת הצירים של המרחב והזמן.

מצגת זו נעה על פני חיפה לאורכם של שלושת צירי המרחב .

לכן היא מקפצת ומקרטעת במימד הזמן.

A journey in space and time over the history of Haifa from

the end of the 19th century until the middle of the 20th century

It is difficult to travel along the axes of space and time in an orderly manner.

This presentation travels along the three spatial axes.

The result is a sporadic movement in time.

במקורות מצאתי מספר צילומים רב של כיכר חמרה, היא ככר פאריז של היום. אני מניח שהסיבה לכך היא שזו הייתה בזמנו הכיכר המרכזית של העיר ומוקד התחבורה העיקרי שלה. מהכיכר הזו ניתן היה לקחת כרכרות רתומות לסוסים אל כל מרחבי העיר הגדולה. זיהום אוויר לא היה אז, הכרכרות לא פלטו עשן

.והסוסים התנהגו יפה בדרך כלל, הם ניסו לא לפלוט גזים

The photos presented here were collected from a number of sources. They are dated here only if the year in which they were taken is given in the origin. The presentation moves from east to west up to the summit of Stella Maris, with a detour to Hadar Hacarmal.

A considerable number of photos of Hamra square can be found in the sources. The reason is probably that this square was the central plaza of old Haifa and it’s main transportation hub. From here horse drawn carriages could be taken to all the edges of the big city. There was no pollution in those happy days. The carriages did not exhaust smoke and the horses were usually well behaved and made efforts not to emit any gases.

תמה ונשלמה ההתחלה של חיפה.

מהלכו של הסיפור עד היום ידוע, חיפה הפכה מעיירה מנומנמת לכפר גדול, וטוב שכך.

את הצפיפות וההמולה היא משאירה לגוש דן, את הקדושה לירושלים.

רק חבל שהתחבורה בחיפה לא מתנהלת כיום יותר בכרכרות שחורות רתומות לסוסים בעלי מידות טובות.

The end of the beginning of Haifa is concluded.The rest of the story is well known. Haifa turned from a sleepy township into a big village, which is good. It left the crowding and the noise to Tel Aviv, the sanctity to Jerusalem.

A pity that to day the traffic is not any more by black carriages, pulled by good mannered horses..
