The article discusses interpretation of 1 tim 5. 18 in russian and foreign biblical studies. The words cited by St. Paul in the second part of the verse are often viewed as a folk saying. however, analysis of existing commentaries shows that this hypothesis is not based on sufficient evidence. using comparative analysis of the text and various exegetical traditions of interpretation, the author demonstrates connection between 1 tim 5. 18b and the gospel according to luke and proves the validity of the traditional church view on this verse. Such view confirms early dating of the gospel according to luke and opens a new perspective on interrelationship between the New testament books.

The aim of this research to identify, systematise and analyse certain images of economic relations in the New testament texts constitutes novelty of the work. The author suggests that New testament images of economic relations should be classified according to five semantic groups: the lords teaching on the kingdom of heaven, teaching on ascetism, moral teaching, historical references, prophetic images. Seven parables from the gospel according to matthew containing images of economic relations are discussed. analysis is based on exegetical works of the holy Fathers.
