Our prayer to the Heavenly Father is that this l e t t e r finds you well,o u r g r e e t i n g s .Normally the ihbhth oT January is very quiet in comparison to the monthof December which i s anything but quiet . For us the month of December i sfilled with work; and for the people i t s running here and there, with manye^eriences. We thought January would again be l ike other years, but i tdidn t work out that way. I ll wait unti l the end of the l e t t e r to t e l l

    y o u why it was d i f f e r e n t .n .the 13th of the month the congregation at Zacatepec organized i t s e l fwith a president, secretary, treasurer and two assistants . Brother VictorManuel Rodriguez Valencia was elected president.Since we s t i l l don t have elders in this congregation to govern i taccording to the ew Testament pattern, this group will conduct the businessuntil that t i m e .

n my calendar of work and activities for this year there is the projectof preparing the men of the church through special classes. They ve alreadyagreed to meet with me two evenings a week for these Bible Classes. y planis for them to know the Bible teachings so well they ll easily recognizeas false those teachings that are not found in i t . We re thankful that wealready have several men in the church of fine moral character. The problem is that some of them can barely read or write. y plan is to beginteaching them slowly be cause even though these men have no experience, andare good Christians and very intell igent. With God s help they should event u a l l y become p i l l a r s i n t h e church h e r e .We actually began giving special Bible classes to the Young People inthe church some time ago. The Young People have more free time that theycan give to this and of course are more accustomed to the discipline ofstudy. We ve had great results with them for which we give the Lord thanks.e have some exceptianally fine young people who are present ly in collegeand not yet independent but soon will be starting their professional careersand w i l l also be future p i l l a r s in the church.

    T h e first p r o j e c t t h e new o f f l c e r c s f-na fence around the church property. This is badly needed in order to prot e c t the property and b u i l d i n g . When t h i s i s f inished w e l l continue asthe Lord provides with the Sunday School rooms the benches we lack, auidmany many other things that we s t i l l need to do. I t wil l take, a long timeto get everything done because the church income i s small, but we are certain we can count on the Lord for His help. e know the church will grownumerically and s p i r i t u a l l y .The f i r s t of the year in Mexico the price of gasoline went up again.This not only caused the cost of a l l types of transportation to increase,but every phase of the economy in the whole country took another jump upward. At the end of the year gasoline cost 40 pesos a l i t e r (.71/gal.);now i t costs 55 pesos, or an increase of 15 pesos a l i t e r (.97/gallon).In February the Young People of the Cuautla and Zacatepec churchesare planning a Mini-Revival Meeting for the purpose of getting more youngpeople in the church. The president of the two g rou ps is a 19 year oldyoung fellow named David Garcia Alquicira who i s studying to be a lawyerat the State University of Morelos. They have invited the Youth Group ofthe First Christian Church of Mexico City to help in these meetings withtheir choir. They will also be showing a Christian movie as a part of theprogram. We i n v i t e you to pray for these young people, for t h e i r l i v e sand f o r t h e i r enthusiam i n t h e L o r d s Work.I n March t h e r e a r e two a c t i v i t i e s t h a t I would l i k e t o a t t e n d . OnMarch 2, 3 and 4 the annual meeting of the Graduates of Colegio Biblicoand their families will be held. This meeting i s held every year to encourage fe l lowship between t h e gradua tes and t h e members o f t h e i r f a m i l i e s .The meeting wil l be held in S a l t i l l o Mexico. On Ma rch 5, 6 and 7 theBilingual Convention will be held on the campus of Colegio Biblico in EaglePass, Texas. This convent ion has always been a blessing because of thethemes that are developed by the outstanding preachers and teachers that areinvited to take part on the program. Another meeting of the graduates i sheld during the convention for the purpose of conducting business and planning activit ies for the year- I am the president this year for both ofthese meetings. The distance between Morelos and the border is a twentyhour drive. The city of S a l t i l l o i s on the way about a six hours drive fromthe borderAs I s a i d I would l i k e t o a t t e n d both o f t h e s e gather ings b u t becauseo f t h e c o s t I m n o t c e r t a i n if I ll b e a b l e t o . It w i l l c o s t 150.00 d o ll a r s for j u s t the gasol ine, and I estimate it w i l l cost another 150.00f o r o t h e r e x p e n s e s .

I have some bad news to share with you. the 16th of January oneof the members Victor Manuel Rodriguez was shot by some unknown assailants. The problon of delincuency is also prevalent in our country. Brother Victortook a lunch to school for his daughter his only child, who is ten yearsof age. i t was 11:00 in the morning. When he went by some young men jumpedout in front of him and demanded money. They shot him six times. Two ofthe shots hit organs, one the lungs and the other the intestines. He is inthe hosptial operated by the state of Morelos. He immediately had to have. pints of blood. A ll the Christians in the area are in shock over t h i sincident. We ask your prayers for our mutual brother in the Lord. As Iwrite this let ter the doctors s t i l l aren't able to make any guarantees reg a r d i n g h i s lifemong the act ivi t ies for next summer I have two invitations to teachin two Christian Service Camps. One i s in the s t a t e of Chihuahua and theother the state of Coahuila, Mexico. These are camps of our churches andof course they do not give any economical help to the participants. Thoseof us who accept these responsibilities do so with great joy, but we musttake care of our own expenses. Since I don't have a fund to cover_ gasolineI-don t know i f I ll be able to attend and take part in these two camps. The c o s t w i l l be about 500.00 d o l l a r s .In spi te of a l l the things that have happened the Christians atZacatapec haven't lost their enthusiasm and devotion for Christ . I v ehad to spend most of my time in the hospital lately, but I haven't nea-lected my visi ts nor the services there. The hospitals a re differenthere than in the United States, Here someone has to be in the room almost a l lthe time to meet the needs of the patient. This is not taken care of bythe h o s p i t a l s t a f f . ^

God ha s been with us and we t r u s t and p r ^ that He is with you also. The Angle of the Lord camps around those who rear Him and He derends themIn Mexico, Mother s Day falls on th e lOth of May no matter what day ofth e week that date falls on. This year on that date we had a special day ofthanksgiving. The young people of the Church organized a special program honorin g theiv mothers which included a special meal.

Our aveiSigB attendance dropped a little during May due mainly to a lot ofsickness, espicially with th e children. These hot and rainy months are very dangerous because of so much stomach sickness y and also due to a fly that carriesa serio us disease t h a t on o c ca si on s c au se s even death. Those who are affectedmost by the sicknesses ar e the children, because even though there is an abundanceof ripe fruit they insist on e at in g t he fruit that is s t i l l green, fhey especially like to ea t green mangos with salt and lemon juice but this causes diarrheathat can be very dangerous. I t s very easy for the children to get t he f tr ui tactually around here a ll they have to do is reach out their hands.

We have had people who are highly qualified in this feild come to the children on special days and talk to all the members of the church who attend andteach them how they can avoid these risks and in this way we have made someprogress in t h i s constant fight. We are making plans fo r a special revival to be held the week of October7t h to the I3th , which is the date we will be celebrating the congregationsanniversa ry.
