Dear Shanti, } F2
Hi, there! How are you? I was not able to reply to your letter earlier. We had the
English Camp at Hutan Lipur. It is 5 kilometres from the Batu Pahat town.
[The English Camp was organised by my school English teachers and the
English Language Society members.] P1 They were very helpful. [The camp was from 1st
of December to 2nd of December.]P2 It was for two days. We stayed one night there. [We
went to the camp by bus.]P3 [Thirty-six participants and four teachers joined this
camp.]P4 [The camp was up on a hill at Hutan Lipur.]P5 It was so quiet and peaceful.
[We stayed in small tents.]P6 Four of us slept in one tent.
We had many interesting activities [like sing-along sessions]P7, [a sketch]P8 and
language games. I liked the language games very much. We played Scrabble, Bingo and
Boggle. The sing-along sessions were enjoyable. We sang our favourite songs. The treasure
hunt was fun too. [We got to know each other during the activities.]P9 Then there was a
sketch. I played the role of a king. [After the sketch I became confident. ]P10
Later the trainers gave us motivation and guidance. I learnt study skills and time
management. I benefitted a lot from this camp. I discovered my own potentials. Now I know
that I have a good memory and I can make friends easily. I also know my weakness. I
procrastinate and waste time. But I have learnt to manage my time with a time-table. I make
my own notes with colourful mind-maps.
However, there were some problems at the camp. [There were too many
mosquitoes.]P11 I was worried that I might get dengue fever. [Another problem was, we
did not have water supply on the first day.]P12 But on the whole, the camp was fun and
educational. I will always remember the experience I gained at this camp. How was your
English Camp? I would like to know about it.
That’s all for now. I hope to hear from you soon. Take care and goodbye.
Your friend,
F3 Shirley

Dear Sir,
Complaint Against Irresponsible Nurse
Referring to the matter above, I would like to make a complaint against an irresponsible nurse in your clinic. My brother was bitten by a cobra on 16th August 2010. His leg was swollen and he fainted. I brought him to your clinic as quickly as I could but on reaching it, your nurse put up the ‘Closed’ sign although it was only 4.45 p.m. She insisted it was time to close. I explained to her the situation to no avail. She shouted at me, saying that rules are rules!
2. I was forced to go to the private hospital about ten kilometers away. The doctor there saved my little brother. He expressed shock at the attitude of the nurse at your clinic.
3. I demand that the irresponsible nurse be taught a lesson. You should reduce her pay or even dismiss her. We need to save others from facing such inconvenience and danger in future. My brother could have died because of her negative action. I hope you will take the necessary action on my complaint. Thank You.
Yours faithfully,
Elina Jaafar(ELINA JAAFAR)
REPORT
A) TO ONE PARTICULAR PERSON – E.G PRINCIPAL
To: The Principal,SMK Kg. Pandan.
Suggestions For Improving Facilities In SM Kg. Pandan
The prefectorial Board of SM Kg. Pandan had a meeting on 17 September 2004 at 2.00 p.m. in the Prefectorial Room. Our Head Prefect, Nazrin bin Arshad called for the meeting because there are many complaints about the condition of the school. This is the report of the meeting for further action and consideration.
The first complaint is the unsatisfactory service and high food prices in the school canteen. There are not enough workers. There are only two people serving the students during recess. Because of this, some students cannot buy their food on time. The food is also expensive. For example, a plate of fried rice is RM2.00. Most students bring only RM1.00 to school. They can only buy light food like bread.
The next complaint is the school is dirty. The cleanliness of the school must be improved. After recess, the toilets are dirty. The workers should wash them after recess. In the canteen, the floor is dirty and oily. Food and paper are all over the floor. Students can slip and fall. The workers can sweep and mop the floor.Another complaint is the safety of the students. There have been accidents in the past few months. Before and after school, the traffic is very heavy in front of the school. There must be a pedestrian or zebra crossing and a traffic warden to help students cross the road safely. In this way, accidents will be reduced.
We hope the school authorities would take the necessary actions to improve the condition of the school. Students need a clean, safe and comfortable environment to study.

RM3 000 000 Lost In Factory Fire
Reported by: Ramu Nathan (optional)
BANDAR BUKIT, Sat. – A fire broke out today at the Colourfast Paint factory at Jalan Pasir here in Bandar Bukit. The watchman, En. Ali, who was on duty discovered the fire
at 2.30 a.m. “I saw a cloud of thick smoke and I sounded the fire alarm immediately. Soon, the fire spread in all directions. The neighbours panicked and began to run wild shouting for help,” En. Ali said when asked about the fire.
Twenty minutes later, three fire-engines arrived. Because of the great heat, the paint drums exploded. The firemen worked hard to put out the fire. They took about three hours to put out the fire. The owner of the factory, Mr. Lee, was very sad to hear that his factory was completely destroyed. The loss is estimated to be about three million ringgit.SPEECH/TALK
A very good morning to the Principal of SM Sri Mayang, teachers and friends. As the
chairperson of the school’s organising committee for the ‘Road Safety Week’. I would like to give
some road safety tips. The number of accidents involving students of this school has increased.
There are some reasons why road accidents occur. Speeding is one cause and some drivers
drive recklessly. They break the road rules and beat the traffic lights. People who drive long distance
or have a hard day at work feel very tired and may not concentrate when they drive. They too can
cause accidents.
Young people race on the road and also cause accidents. Another cause of accidents is when
drivers do not check and maintain their vehicles. Such vehicles become faulty. Potholes and uneven
roads make the roads bad and unsafe for driving too.
However, these problems can be overcome. There should be strict enforcement of traffic
rules. Those who break traffic rules should be punished severely. We can increase the fines and carry
out road safety awareness campaigns. Drivers should drive road-worthy vehicles. Many young drivers
cause accidents so we can increase the age limit for driving for new drivers. If the drivers are involved
in any accidents, their license should be suspended.
I hope my tips will help you use the road safely and avoid accidents. Thank you.
