    The D8 Motorway (nown a E55 North) from Prague to Czech-Germanborder, with it deign length of 92.7km jut in the Czech Republic, i

    a part of the IV European mul-modal corridor of TransEuropean net-work TEN. The connuaon of the i motorway in Germany i nown a

    the Motorway A17.

    VALBEk, pol. r.o. Liberec wa the main designer for the part of amotorway tretch between Kninice and Czech-German border, nown

    a construcon number 0807/II. In addion to preparing the projectdocumentaon, the company repreentave conducted building ite

    uperviion and too part in coordinaon of the contrucon equenc-ing. VALBEk, pol. r.o. wa in charge of the taged contrucon

    organizaon in the area of the D8 with A17 juncon for both Czech andGerman region of the project. The water reource uperviion wa

    alo a reponibility of VALBEk, pol. r.o.

    The project was awarded by Secretary of Transportaon in the 2006

    Transportaon Project of the Year compeon.

    Brief Descripon of Construcon

    A total of 191 tructure were implemented a a part of the contrucon0807/II project. Among them were eight mainline bridge, threeuplementary bridge, two mainline tunnel, a gallery paageway, complexretaining wall extending from the north and outh portal of Libouchectunnel, and noie barrier with total area of 22, 965 qm. In addion, theproject included a contrucon of a grade-eparated interecon anda 11,704m long roadway in category D27.5/120 with a urface area of

    134,664 qm (urface area excluding bridge and tunnel). The nal lengthof the bridge and tunnel reached 3,037m and 2,624m, repecvely. Thedicult condion in the mountainou region are illutrated by a fact thatout of total length 11,704m , a total of 5,359m i taen away by bridgeand tunnel. The project realizaon mandated excavaon and removal of1,177,166m3 of oil and roc. Mot of the excavated oil wa ued a llfor the embanment; the ret wa tranported oite. The bae oil waimproved through the addion of 141,872m3 of tone aggregate.
