A few weeks ago we started a new series of lessons in our Sunday School. Dick isteaching Christian Doctrine to the teenagers, and Nancy arid I are writing lessonson the Parables bfJe^us; for the r e s t of us. I ru n them 6ff on the di t to machinehere in my study i t s really convenient) and also ti^ to dig out visuals forthree different classes. This week I couldn't find a single picture for the prayersof the Pharisee and the Publican. Sometimes I wish I had a computerized libraryinstead of dozens of packets to look through. But I 'm thankful for the packetsSome of the children and I spent hours during the vacatidn putting our las t unit oflessons into booklets for those had been reasonably regular. have enjoyed three stewardship visi ts with the church at Berganor.Bro. Noah is their longtime preacher and he was able to be with us even though hewas teaching at the new sites some of the time. The congregations meet under ametal roof that covers the compound.of one member's house. The floor is just dirt .This church has already been taught well by their young pastor. On th e second v i s i tthey gave us three cedis to-.heXp wit^h the gasoline and the third time they gave usfour cedis^^ Their special tithing demonstration offering was fairly good. Sincewe know they are better givers, than most,'we were not disappointed. Each time theygave us fresh young coconuts to luring home. I^m beginning to l ike them more andmore. You just scoop out. the soft meat with a spoon, or with your thumbnail i fno spoon i s a v a i l a b l e . . .Berganor- is^about 1/4 mile from th e se.aj 'but they have no year round sourceof fresh water. 'Diiriiig th e d^y season now, thely have to walk several miles towash their clothes and.they are dependent on occasional tankers for drinking water.A hard l ife. On o\ir last visi t we took three gal lon jugs of water. Next Sundaywe s t a r t our teaching in a new,v il lage , but we are going to make a detour throughBerganor and take a l l the jugs t h a t we c an bor row. Think about t he se Ch ri st ia nsnext time you turn on your tap. Why do they l ive there? They are fishermen, whofish in the sea part of th^ year. At other tim es, the men l ive inland on the VoltaLake and f i s h there. Most of the women stay behind.

Souls are being- won..,, .In December I drove four people, and the two studentswho had taught them to the .lagoon for baptism. Just a week ago a l is tener toChristian Conversation , the Ga radio program, came to ithe college requestingimmersion. The lady has just discoveredthe joy of reading the Bible for herself and she can hardly get enough of i t . Atthe lagoon, the Ewe student exhorted the Ewe lady, and a Twi student exhorted theGa student . Then they were baptized into Chris t , i n whom there i s no East or West. The land pxoblcm-io otill-quiefc, but-a^ l l l unseULled.KeiiL aud pliilaLIaucontinue to follow every lead they can tb imi>rove our status. Keep praying. Two men representing three small groups near Peki, about 100. miles away, came to the college requesting teaching and guidance in organizing their churchesfor real growth and progress. Since our' student from that area graduates in June, there i s real potential for self-governing, Bible-following churches there. Therea re also p ossible p i t f a l l s . .jWe are praying for Mr. Bansah and Dick Hostet.ter aisthey v i s i t these people to assess the situation more completely. .

A few of th e converts have been baptizedin.the ocean and are attending services in Noah's home iJase village about a mileaway. But the origina l v il lage needs a thriving congregation witnessing in i t s midst. The Christian Bible Club had i ts final Bible Contest with two other villageyouth groups. e came in second place, but our score was not very good, ^ e Kungmore youth won, and they deserved i t e were happy that a third group joined usthis time, and the contest was held in their village to encourage them.Christian and I completed our stewardship preaching/teaching a t Kungmore. He and three men from our Abeka fellowship were present on their Tithing Demonstrat ion Day. They did very well. They have made two regular payments on their loanfrom the Abeka congregation also. e fejoipe in thei r faithfulness.Speaking of stewardship^ our offerings from the college congregation are verygood, considering our small number. I bel ieve tha t the men who went on some of ourstewardship teaching treks learned something, too. Three of the men are taking a rea l in teres t in preparing themselves to conduct the s erv ic e o f the congregation, except for the preaching. I am afraid he is lazy. Pray, for him. He didlaunch a new congregation, and, with his ready agreement, one of our freshmen hasbeen, going there every weekend with evangelist ic sermons and Bible t each ing in theafternoons. The people are gladly responding. More have been Won (directly frompaganism)one man asked Jacob to come to his room and remove a ll his fetish para-phanalia. We praise pod. Furlough time i s flying. Since August 9th, I 've t raveled ^,000 miles, and a i l within the state of Florida. y brother 's fai thful Cutlass passedthe 100,000 mark, and it s still pur r ing .

    F i r s t Chr i s t i an Church here i n Orlando has a r ranged an o f f i c e co rne r fo tme t h a t he lps t remendously in correspondence and r eco rd -keep ing . I see ourmini s t e r s and sec re t a ry q uite o fte n but not many members s ince I am of ten goneon SWdays and Wednesdays^ T^did enjoy a fu l l day with the church in October,report ing , and in severa l ci rc les , th e L ad ies' Auxil iary and in the^irannual Missions Fa i r . I hope the new members and I are a little l6s s l ikes t r a nge r s to one ano the r now.

    jlhis i s the story in a l l my travelsmeeting, sharing and rejoicingwith 61d f r iends and making new ones . For example, one of my t r i p s took met h i s month ' to Miami, my f i r s t v i s i t to churches the re . I was much impressedwith the a t t i t u d e s o f th e min is t e r s and Chr i s t i an s I met . I thank God fo rt he i r ' e f fo r t s in d i f f i cu l t condi t ions . Wliile there , I learn ed to my amazementthat injections of terramycin are being given palm trees to prevent the spreadof a virus t ha t has ki l led many of these lovely t r ees . I t was fun to v i s i tNancy Hoste t t .e r ' s s i s t e r and paren ts in tha t a rea , too .

    l ^i en .I p repared l e t t e r s to send out to churches, I thought it would bea bo ut '1 10 f or F l o r i d a . I am beh i nd th e t ime s : th e number is ne a r e r IkOlNow ygu^^^ee .why I spend much of my furlough in t h i s s t a t e . The more our co llege ^upport, and my personal support comes from one or two concentrated areas ,the l e s s , t ime and expense I expend in t r ave l . I 'd ra the r use t ha t t ime instimuij-ating missions interest, and helping in local churches camps etc.

    Dorothy Hackworth, whose home I share , helped me a l o t a t th e F lo rid aChr i s t i an ]'C6hvention in Sara so t a . ca r r i ed boards and fas tened bo l t s andarjcanged l ig j i t s to p re pare th e d isp lay fo r Ghana Chris t ian College ^Theeconvent ion was a t ime of i n sp i r a t i on and fe l lowship and he lpfu l con tac t s . fo r thefuture All t h i s in sp i t e of a purple convention center . As our main speakerpoin ted out, what more appropriate color for our theme, The Royal Priesthood..One of the best pa r t s o f the Daytona Fai th Promise Ral ly , in i t s e l f a r ichexperience, was g ettin g to know Ron and Ellen Ritchey, missiona ri es to Indonesia.The Daytona Chris t ians make us f ee l l ike a par t of t he i r family, too .Probably because I am a woman I have had the pr iv i l ege of v is i t ing qui tea number of women's meetings . They have a spec ia l f lavour: great i n t e re s t inth e p erso na l s ide of a missionary 's l i f e and more t ime for quest ions and answe r s ' ,^very of fe r ing and g i f t fo r the Gh^na Missionary work i s grea t ly apprecia tedUsually it s money or a check, but it s been fun to receive c lo th , w ritin g paper ,a radio , a purse, gasol ine , r abb i t s , car servic ing, avocadoes and persimmons,too

    One l a s t comment about furlough t ime: a l l physica l exams have been normal .After^years o f b el ie vin g I had a hear ing l o s s , and bel ieving tha t it had worsened in the l a s t th ree years , the verdic t of the audiologis t was s t a r t l i ng :You a re not hard o f h earin g: you jus t don ' t pay a t t en t ion

    Some news notes f rom Ghan a : I h av e w ri tt en s ev er al t im e s a bo ut th e menwho a-jjtend worship services a t the col lege and who walk severa l miles each wayto do so . They a re now he lp ing to s t a r t a new assembly in t h e i r own a re a .Idon ' t know a l l the de ta i l s , only tha t it i s going well . They c on tin ue to at tendthe college services in the evening. Praise the Lord.

Little David Kalb,, l8 months old, is adjusting well to Ghana, although hehas suffered one bout of malaria already. Barbara Kalb has decided to keep mydog, part ly because I t ki l led two big ra ts and a mouse in the back yard...The sugar factor ies (only two) have been b roken since May and wil l not berepait*ed un t i l December. Barbara bought some for 1,73 a pound.Since the September newsle t te r , I have learned what happened in Ghana tothe pr ice of cars . On July I-,--the government*s new regulatory budget came out .With new taxes and import dut ies , a new Datsun wil l cost about 10,000. Thisis an' enormous sum but a car saves many many hours of time, huge amount ofhuman energy, and i t s capabil i t ies to carry us and the Ghanaians to the villagesto help and teach i s unsurpassed. Dear f r i ends , I am dependent on the Lordas He'works through you to meet this need and others. This undoubtedly willmake the annual cost of insurance much, much higher. Hostet ters have justbought a small battery for their car for 12600. In September of 1974 I paid6l.o6 and thought i t was terrible. Since, prices are not likely to drop, buyinga car is spmewhat of an investment, for resale value remains high. In anappeal to ..the churches I , ^sked for 2,500 to help purchase a ca r . Now I mustraise .tliat to 6,000 to be added to money from the sale of tiiy old one and mys av ings . . : . . .
