EditorialeLa primavera ci sprona a visitare o rivisitare un luogo emblematico del Gar-

da: le Grotte di Catullo a Sirmione, quel che resta dell’imponente villa romana

dove il poeta non mise mai piede ma… Nell’entroterra della sponda veronese c’è

un gioiello dedicato alla preistoria e alla storia: il Museo civico archeologico di

Cavaion. E se Dante, oltre che scrivere di Peschiera, avesse scritto anche dell’I-

slanda? Parliamone. Tanti gli eventi che animano i comuni gardesani da Pasqua

in poi, qui trovate qualche proposta. Della lavanda, scopriamo anche il sapore e

l’uso in cucina. Per panoramiche, rasserenanti escursioni lunghe circa centodieci

chilometri, ecco le ippostrade del Baldo sul crinale veronese e trentino.

EditorialSpring is a time when we feel more inclined to visit or revisit an emblemat-

ic place in Garda: the Grottoes of Catullus in Sirmione, the remains of the impos-

ing Roman villa where the poet never actually set foot; inland on the Verona side

you will find a gem devoted to prehistory and history: the Archaeological Museum

in Cavaion. And what if Dante, as well as writing about Peschiera, also wrote

about Iceland? Let’s discuss it. There are so many events that enliven the towns

of Garda from Easter onwards; here are just a few suggestions. We find out about

lavender, its taste, and how it can be used in cooking. Soothing excursions, one

hundred and ten kilometres long, in search of panoramic views: these are the

Monte Baldo horse-riding routes, on the mountain ridges of Verona and Trentino.

emblematischen Ortes am Gardasee an: die Grotten des Catull in Sirmione, die

Reste der imposanten Römer Villa des Poeten, die er nie zu Gesicht bekam,

aber… Im Binnenland des Veroneser Ufers gibt es ein Juwel, das ganz der Vor-

geschichte und Geschichte gewidmet ist: das Städtische Archäologische Muse-

um in Cavaion. Und wenn Dante, der über Peschiera schrieb, auch über Island

geschrieben hätte? Lassen Sie uns das vertiefen! Ab Ostern beleben unzählige

Events die Gemeinden am Gardasee und hier finden Sie einige Angebote. Was

Lavendel anbelangt, entdecken wir auch seinen Geschmack und seinen Einsatz

in der Küche. Und dann die Reitwege auf dem Monte Baldo, auf dem Gebirgs-

kamm der Provinzen Verona und Trentino, für aufheiternde Panoramaausflüge

von etwa 110 Kilometer Länge.

Terme di rigenerante benessere; castello scaligero ben conser-

vato; rime di Catullo dedicate; Grotte di Catullo, i resti dell’ impo-

nente villa romana dove mai lui mise piede, o forse sì, in quella

preesistente. Un inno all’amore, oltre le convenzioni, insaziabile

amore che dopo mille baci ne vuole altri cento, scrive il poeta nel

carme a Lesbia; ma quando Lesbia - Clodia lo respinge, le pene

e i sospiri diventano rabbia espressa in rima ficcante e triviale.

Niente di nuovo, nei secoli.

Ha il marchio Catullo l’olio ricavato dalle cultivar sopra le Grotte,

mentre Maria Callas abita ancora qui, tra i cimeli e i ricordi di chi

l’ha ammirata.

IL CASTELLO SCALIGERO

Come nel Medioevo, si attraversa il ponte levatoio per entrare nel

centro storico, tra il baluginare delle onde. Raro esempio di for-

tificazione lacustre, si specchia nell’acqua, che s’infiltra fin nella

darsena. Non c’è castello senza leggenda, anche il maniero di

Sirmione ha la propria, sull’eterno triangolo di amore, gelosia,

morte, protagonisti la bellissima Arice, il marito furioso e assas-

sino Ebengardo e il cavaliere nero Elaberto. Il rimpianto, più che il

rimorso, spinge ancora oggi il fantasma di Ebengardo ad aggirarsi

nel maniero tra i bagliori dei fulmini, in cerca della sua innocente

amata.

Il passeggio sulla lastricata via principale, tra tentazioni da shop-

ping, piazzette e vicoli, conduce a nord verso le Terme affacciate

sul lago, la collinetta di Cortine, con il suo prestigioso hotel e alle

cosiddette Grotte di Catullo.

GROTTE DI CATULLO

Il riferimento al nome deriva dai versi del poeta latino, morto nel

54 a.C., che così canta Sirmione “Delle penisole, Sirmione, e

delle isole pupilla, tutte quelle che il duplice Nettuno porta nei

limpidi stagni ed il vasto mare, quanto volentieri ti rivedo e quanto

felice, a stento io stesso credendomi di aver lasciato la Tinia ed i

Bitini e vedere te al sicuro. Oh cosa c’è di più felice degli affanni

dissipati, quando il cuore ripone il peso e stanchi per la fatica

straniera e giungiamo al nostro focolare, e riposiamo nel letto

sognato? Questa è quella cosa unica per tante fatiche. Salve,

graziosa Sirmione, e gioisci del padrone gioioso e voi, o lidie onde

del lago, ridete di tutte le risate di casa”.

Peccato che l’area archeologica oggi visibile sia succes-

siva di alcuni decenni alla morte del poeta, ma al di sot-

to sono stati trovati i resti di una precedente villa, forse

quella effettivamente appartenuta al poeta, dove il sog-

giorno ameno gli ispirò “… Salve, o venusta Sirmio…”.

Risale al Rinascimento il nome Grotte di Catullo, grotte per indi-

care gli ambienti crollati, coperti dalla vegetazione, dentro i quali

si poteva entrare proprio come si entra nelle cavità naturali. I pri-

mi scavi archeologici sono stati eseguiti nell’Ottocento; ma solo

dopo l’acquisizione pubblica dell’area nel 1948, sono venuti alla

luce numerosi vani nella parte occidentale dell’edificio. La villa,

risalente all’età augustea - ultimi decenni del I secolo a.C., inizio

I secolo d.C.- segue l’andamento del terreno che scende verso

l’acqua, con le stanze padronali a godere del clima e del panora-

ma, dall’alto del promontorio.

Un complesso grandioso extralusso con terrazze e lunghi portica-

ti; la prospettiva converge nell’avancorpo nord, sullo straordinario

belvedere della terrazza. Resti a mosaico abbelliscono i pavimen-

ti delle parti residenziali, mentre la zona centrale, occupata oggi

dal grande oliveto, corrispondeva ad uno spazio aperto, delimi-

tato sul lato meridionale da un pavimento in mattoni a spina di

pesce che copre una grande cisterna, lunga quasi 43 metri.

Terme per la salute e il relax, seppure costruite circa un secolo

dopo, occupavano diversi vani. Poi i crolli e l’inizio dell’abbando-

no dal III secolo, al punto che fu usata come necropoli già nella

seconda metà IV - inizio V secolo.

In epoche successive la struttura fu inglobata dentro il perimetro

fortificato della penisola di Sirmione.

DA GUSTARE

Scene millenarie agli occhi - per chi ama l’archeologia, la sto-

ria, la poesia - hanno un piacevole epilogo… al gusto, ispirate

dall’acqua e dalla terra. Pesce di lago, in primis: trota salmonata,

coregone, sardine, luccio… insaporito dal fruttato extravergine

del Garda Dop, con esaltazione del Lugana, il bianco lacustre di

successo.

Regenerating wellness spas; the well-preserved Scaliger Castle;

dedicated poems of Catullus; the Grottoes of Catullus, the re-

mains of the imposing Roman villa where he never set foot - or

perhaps he did, in the earlier one. An ode to love, beyond all con-

ventions, an insatiable love which after a thousand kisses desires

another hundred; so writes the poet Catullus in his poem to Les-

bia. But when Lesbia - Clodia rejects him, the suffering and the

sighs turn into anger, expressed in forceful, vulgar rhyme. Some

things never change.

The oil extracted from cultivars above the Grottoes bears Catul-

lus’s name, and Maria Callas still ‘lives’ here through the memen-

toes and the memories of those who admired her.

THE SCALIGER CASTLE

As in the middle ages, we cross the bridge to reach the city cen-

tre, passing between the shimmering waves. A rare example of

a lake fortification, it is reflected in the water, which seeps in as

far as the dock. All castles have a legend, and indeed the castle

of Sirmione has its own, based on the eternal triangle of love,

jealousy and death. This legend tells of the beautiful Iris, her furi-

ous husband and murderer Ebengardo, and the Black Knight Ela-

berto. Regret, rather than remorse, still drives Ebengardo’s ghost

to prowl the castle among flashes of lightning, in search of his

innocent loved one.

A stroll down the paved main street, among tempting shops,

through the squares and alleyways, leads north to the Thermal

Spa overlooking the lake, the small hill of Cortine, with its presti-

gious hotels and the so-called Grottoes of Catullus.

THE GROTTOES OF CATULLUS

The reference to the name comes from the verses of the Latin

poet Catullus, who died in 54 BC, who wrote of Sirmione: “Sirmio,

bright eye of peninsulas and islands, whatever ones either Neptune

bears in limpid lakes or in the vast sea. How willingly and happily

I visit you, scarcely trusting myself that I have left Thynia and the

Bithynian plains, and that I see you in safety.

Oh, what is more blessed that to put cares away, when the mind

lays down its burden, and tired with the labour of travel, we come

to our own home and rest on the bed we longed for?

This is the only thing that is worth such great toils. Hail, charming

Sirmio, rejoice in your happy master, and you, oh Lydian waves of

the lake, laugh whatever laughter there is in your home.”

created several decades after the death of the poet, but below the remains of a villa were found, and

it could be that this villa actually belonged to the poet, and that this pleasant place inspired him... “...

Hail, oh charming Sirmio...”.

The name Grottoes of Catullus dates back to the Renaissance period; grottoes indicate the partially

collapsed environments, covered by vegetation, which you could enter just as you would enter natural

caves. The first archaeological excavations took place in the 19th century, but it was only when the

area became state property in 1948 that several rooms in the western part of the building were dis-

covered. The villa, which dates back to the Augustan age - the last decades of the first century B.C.,

the beginning of the 1st century A.D. - follows the flow of the land, sloping down to the water, with the

stately rooms enjoying the mild climate and the view from the top of the promontory.

This was a grand and luxurious complex with long colonnades and terraces; the perspective con-

verges in the northern forepart, on the extraordinary panoramic terrace. Mosaic remains embellish

the floors of the residential areas, while the central area, occupied today by the large olive grove, was

an open space, bounded on the south side by a herringbone brick floor that covers a large cistern,

nearly 43 metres long.

Thermal spas for health and relaxation occupied several rooms, although they were built about a cen-

tury later. Then in the 3rd century the villa began to collapse and was abandoned, and was used as a

necropolis by the second half of the 4th century and the early years of the 5th century.

In later times the property was incorporated into the fortified perimeter of the peninsula of Sirmione.

THINGS TO TASTE

Centuries-old scenes for the eyes - for lovers of archaeology, history, poetry - have a pleasant epi-

logue with tastes, inspired by the water and the land. Firstly there is the lake fish: salmon trout,

whitefish, sardines and pike, all flavoured with Garda PDO fruity extra-virgin olive oil, and accompa-

nied by a glass of Lugana, the popular white wine produced on the hills surrounding Lake Garda.

Thermen, die für ein regenerierendes Wohlbefinden sorgen;

eine gut erhaltene Scaliger-Burg; von Catull gewidmete Reime;

Grotten des Catull, die Reste der imposanten Römer Villa, die er

niemals zu Gesicht bekam oder vielleicht doch, vielleicht betrat er

die Villa, die dort vor ihr stand. Ein Loblied an die Liebe jenseits

aller Konventionen, eine unersättliche Liebe, die nach tausend

Küssen noch mehr möchte, so der Poet im Karmen an Lesbia;

doch sobald Lesbia - Clodia ihn zurückweist, verwandeln sich die

Liebesqualen und Seufzer in Wut, die in einem stechenden und

vulgären Reim zum Ausdruck kommt. Doch dies ist im Laufe der

Jahrhunderte nichts Neues.

Das Olivenöl der Cultivare oberhalb der Grotten trägt das

Markenzeichen Catull. Und Maria Callas wohnt noch hier, zwischen

den Zimelien und Erinnerungen ihrer Bewunderer.

DIE SCALIGER-BURG

Genau wie im Mittelalter überquert man die Hebebrücke, um

zwischen dem Aufleuchten der Wellen in die Altstadt zu gelangen.

Es ist das seltene Beispiel einer sich im Wasser spiegelnden

und bis zum Hafenbecken reichenden Festungsanlage am See.

Es gibt keine Burg ohne eine Legende und so hat auch die Burg

in Sirmione ihre eigene. Eine Legende, in der es um das ewige

Dreieck Liebe, Eifersucht und Tod geht. Die Protagonisten sind

die wunderschöne Arice, ihr wütender Ehemann und Mörder

Ebengardo und der schwarze Ritter Elaberto. Noch heute zwingen

das Bedauern, mehr noch als die Gewissensbisse, Ebengardos

Geist dazu, auf der Suche nach seiner unschuldigen Liebsten

zwischen dem Aufleuchten der Blitze in der Burg umherzuirren.

Der Spaziergang auf der gepflasterten Hauptstraße führt den

Besucher zwischen allerlei Shopping-Versuchungen, kleinen

Plätzen und Gassen nordwärts zu den Thermen mit ihrem

Seeblick, zum kleinen Hügel Cortine mit seinem prestigevollen

Hotel und zu den sogenannten Grotten des Catull.

GROTTEN DES CATULL

Der Name stammt aus den Versen des im Jahr 54 v.Chr.

verstorbenen lateinischen Dichters, der mit folgenden Worten

Sirmione rühmt: „Mein Sirmio, du Perle der Halbinseln und Inseln,

welche auch immer Neptun, der Herr über beide, auf den klaren

Seen und dem weiten Meer trägt; wie gern und wie froh sehe ich

dich wieder, mir selbst kaum glaubend, dass ich Thynien und die

bithynischen Felder verlassen habe und dich in Sicherheit sehe!

O was gibt es Seligeres als gelöste Sorgen, wenn unser Geist

die Last ablegt und wir müde vom Mühsal in der Fremde zum

eigenen Herd kommen und im ersehnten Bett ausruhen? Das

ist es, was als einziges so große Mühen aufwiegt. Sei gegrüßt,

mein reizendes Sirmio, und freue dich deines Herrn; freut auch ihr

euch, ihr Wellen des Gardasees: lacht, soviel euch an fröhlichem

Lachen zur Gebote steht!“

Schade, dass die heute sichtbare Ausgrabungsstätte auf einige

Jahrzehnte nach dem Tode des Dichters datierbar ist. Darunter

kamen jedoch die Reste einer vorangehenden Villa zum Vorschein,

die vielleicht dem Dichter gehört hatte und wo ihn der liebliche

Aufenthalt zu den Versen „…O liebes Sirmio, Glück auf…“ inspirierte.

Der Name Grotten des Catull stammt aus der Renaissance.

„Grotten“ stand für die eingestürzten und von der Vegetation

bedeckten Räume, die man wie Naturhöhlen besichtigen konnte.

Die ersten Ausgrabungen erfolgten im 19. Jahrhundert; doch erst

nachdem das Gebiet 1948 vom Staat erworben wurde, kamen im

westlichen Gebäudeteile zahlreiche Räume ans Tageslicht. Die

Villa wurde im augusteischen Zeitalter - in den letzten Jahrzehnten

des 1. Jhs. v.Ch., Anfang des 1. Jhs. n.Chr. - errichtet und folgt

dem zum Wasser hinabfallenden Geländeverlauf, so dass die

herrschaftlichen Räume von ganz oben in den Genuss des Klimas

und Panoramas kamen.

Ein großartiger, überaus luxuriöser Komplex mit Terrassen und

langen Laubengängen; die Perspektive konvergiert im nördlichen Vorbau, auf dem

außergewöhnlichen Belvedere der Terrasse. Reste und Mosaiken verzieren die Fußböden

der Wohnbereiche. Der Mittelteil, in dem sich heute der große Olivenhain befindet,

war damals ein offener Raum, der an der Südseite von einem Backsteinboden mit

Fischgratmuster abgegrenzt wurde, welcher eine fast 43 m lange, große Wasserzisterne

bedeckt.

Eine obgleich etwa ein Jahrhundert später errichtete und für die Gesundheit und das

Wohlergehen gedachte Therme erstreckte sich über verschiedenen Räume. Ab dem 3.

Jahrhundert ereigneten sich die Einstürze. Man ließ das Gebäude verwahrlosen und

bereits in der zweiten Hälfte des 4., Anfang des 5. Jahrhunderts wurde es gar als

Nekropole benutzt.

In darauffolgenden Epochen wurde die Anlage der Befestigung der Halbinsel Sirmione

einverleibt.

GENUSSERLEBNIS

Die tausendjährigen Eindrücke für die Augen - für alle, die Archäologie, Geschichte,

Poesie lieben - bieten ein angenehmes Nachspiel … und stehen ganz im Zeichen der

Genusserlebnisse, die sich vom Wasser und der Erde inspirieren lassen. Seefisch, in

primis: Lachsforelle, Felchen, Sardinen, Hecht… mit dem fruchtigen Geschmack des

extra nativen Olivenöls Garda DOP und mit der Hervorhebung durch den Lugana, den

erfolgreichen Weißwein, der am Gardasee wächst.

Nel 1931 Giovanni Avanzi fonda la sua cantina, coronando il suo più grande sogno.La produzione iniziale è di solo vino rosso, da uve Coltivate sulla sponda occidentale del Lago di Garda.Negli anni sessanta i figli Gianpietro ed Alessandro contribuiscono sensibilmente al rinnovamento della cantina dedicandosialla produzione dei primi vini bianchi, alla vinificazione del Chiaretto e producendo i primi spumanti.Nel corso degli anni, con grande lungimiranza,acquisiscono quattro tenute meravigliose nei comuni di Polpenazze del Garda, Desenzano del Garda e Sirmione.Ed è proprio in quest’ultimo che Avanzi possiede la sua tenuta più prestigiosa.Nella fattoria Bragagna sono coltivativenticinque ettari di Lugana, grazie ai quali la famiglia produce il suo bianco più rappresentativo: Il Lugana di Sirmione.

Le uve crescono su viti di oltre 30 anni che,unitamente al terreno totalmente argilloso,conferiscono alle uve eccezionali qualità.Il Lugana di Avanzi è un bianco longevocon un grande carattere. L’annata 2016, in commercio da pochi giorni, Stupisce per la sua ricchezza gustativa, per la sua mineralità e per la sua freschezza.L’utilizzo di sole uve di proprietà, provenienti da un ‘unica vigna posizionata nella zona storica di produzione consentono al Lugana di Avanzi di potersi fregiare del nome Sirmione che compare nell’etichetta di questo vino stupefacente, ufficializzando, di fatto, una d.o.c. personale ad esclusivo utilizzo della famiglia.

Oggi la cantina è guidata dalla terzagenerazione. I nipoti del fondatore,Giovanni, Giuseppe, Nicola e Francesco,ricoprono ciascuno un ruolo chiave.

CavaionMuseo Civico archeologico

Accogliente, ordinato, fruibile, relazionale. Quando il piccolo coin-

cide con importante, lì si trova il Museo Civico archeologico di

Cavaion, comune veronese arroccato sotto il monte S. Michele

alla Bastia, nell’entroterra del Garda. Di notte, illuminato, sembra

un presepio, senza tempo, come il belvedere sul lago in località

Ceriel alla bandiera della Valsorda.

LUOGO E PERSONAGGI

Il museo è ospitato nel seminterrato del Municipio: un unico edi-

ficio, un’unica postazione per amministrare e valorizzare il territo-

rio. Buon segno, I CARE.

Due le guide speciali nella visita: l’ispettore onorario della Soprin-

tendenza archeologica cavaliere Mario Parolotti, indissolubilmen-

te legato alle vicende locali - sue le scoperte e le segnalazioni

dei siti da cui provengono i reperti -; la giovane archeologa spe-

cializzata Chiara Reggio. Due formazioni e generazioni diverse,

accomunate dalla passione per l’archeologia. Conservatrice è la

Tutto è iniziato con il ritrovamento nel 1980 di un abitato dell’an-

tica e media Età del Bronzo (fine del terzo e inizio del secondo

millennio a. C.) nei pressi del laghetto di Ca’ Nova; i reperti costi-

tuiscono il nucleo primigenio del museo istituito dieci anni dopo

che conserva, di pari valore, i resti di una necropoli romana e di

altri insediamenti scoperti a Cavaion e nelle zone limitrofe.

ATMOSFERA E DETTAGLI

In occasione dei 25 anni di attività, è stato rinnovato l’allesti-

mento.

L’atrio d’ingresso è dedicato all’ambiente e alla ricerca archeo-

logica, funzionale alla comprensione e alla didattica. Qui è espo-

sto un pezzo tra i più interessanti del museo: la stele romana di

Castagnar, un topos del viaggio del defunto su un carro ad ampie

ruote, con giovinetto in tunica.

La prima sala svela la vita del villaggio preistorico, che prosperò

per circa due secoli, ai bordi del laghetto inframorenico di Cà

Nova. La produzione fittile dimostra l’importanza della ceramica

nella vita quotidiana, con vasta gamma di vasi da ammirare. Por-

ta lontano la visione delle tavolette enigmatiche: «un vero e pro-

prio linguaggio formalizzato a livello europeo - spiega l’archeologa

– forse un sistema di tessere hospitales».

Che qui si esercitasse il commercio, è dimostrato anche dalla

presenza di ambra, proveniente dal Mar Baltico e del bronzo,

lega di rame e stagno provenienti dalle Alpi e dal centro Europa.

Un coccio cruciforme da osservare con attenzione: riproduce le

capanne che si riflettono nell’acqua. I reperti spiegano ogni at-

tività del villaggio: mangiare e bere con oggetti per cuocere e

conservare, «decorati - spiega l’ispettore onorario - con pietra

bianca del monte Moscal macinata e impastata con acqua». In-

gioiellarsi, con perle d’ambra, bracciali e orecchini. Lavorare la

terra e andare a caccia: Mario Parolotti ha riprodotto un’ipotetica

immanicatura di falcetto con elementi in selce. Filare, tessere,

cucinare. Bellissimi i manufatti in vetro, tra cui una bottiglia in

vetro soffiato, opalino tendente al verdastro a superficie satinata.

Altri reperti provengono da S. Andrea d’Incaffi (Monte Moscal) e

dal Monte delle Bionde.

D’effetto la sala dedicata alla necropoli di Bossema (III-IV sec.

d. C.) con sepolture a doppio rito. Per incinerazione: visibili le

ossa bruciate e corredi di vasetti ceramici, balsamari, moneta in

bronzo. Inumazione: lo scheletro integro è posato tra le pareti

tombali, con loculi abbelliti da ollette in vetro. E ancora: la villa

rustica di località Le Fontane, le monete di La Prà, la probabile

casa retica a Monte delle Bionde, il braccialetto in giaietto, detta

anche ambra nera…

Il museo di Cavaion, si capisce dalla visita, non è un museo

“minore”, è una struttura di territorio a dimensione essen-

ziale, esplicativa, emblematica di testimonianze antiche su

una zona di grande interesse archeologico e storico, identi-

taria e distinta dall’area lacustre, montebaldina e atesina.

Inaugurato nel 1990 grazie alla collaborazione tra la Soprinten-

denza Archeologica del Veneto, il Museo Civico di Storia Naturale

di Verona e il Comune di Cavaion, è gestito dall’Associazione Ar-

CavaionCivic Archaeological Museum

Welcoming, well-organised, usable, interactive. It may be small,

but there are so many important things to see: this is the Museo

Civico archeologico (Civic Archaeological Museum) in Cavaion, a

Veronese town perched beneath Mount San Michele alla Bastia,

in the hinterland of Lake Garda. At night, when it’s lit up, it looks

like a nativity scene: timeless, like the panoramic view over the

Lake from the Valsorda flag in Ceriel.

PLACE AND CHARACTERS

The Museum is housed in the basement of the Town Hall; a single

building, a single location, from which to administer and enhance

the area. A good sign, I CARE.

There are two special guides for this visit: the Honorary Inspector

of the Authority for Archaeology, Sir Mario Parolotti, who is

inextricably linked to local events - the exhibits originate from

his discoveries and reports from sites; the young specialist

archaeologist, Chiara Reggio. Coming from different professional

backgrounds, and from different generations, they are united by

their passion for archaeology. The curator is Alessandra Aspes, a

renowned researcher in the field of Prehistory.

It all started with the discovery in 1980 of an Early and Middle

Bronze Age settlement (at the turn of the second millennium BC)

near the small intermorainic lake of Ca’ Nova. The findings form

the first nucleus of the Museum which was set up ten years after,

and which conserves, in equal value, the remains of a Roman

necropolis and other settlements discovered in Cavaion and the

surrounding areas.

ATMOSPHERE AND DETAILS

The set-up of the museum has been updated, now that it has

been open for 25 years.

The entrance hall is devoted to the environment and to

archaeological research, with the aim of facilitating understanding

and teaching. One of the museum’s most interesting pieces is

displayed here: the Roman Stone of Castagnar, a depiction of the

journey of the deceased on a float with wide wheels, showing a

young boy in a tunic.

The first room unveils the life of the prehistoric settlement,

which flourished for nearly two centuries, at the borders of the

intermorenic lake of Cà Nova. Clay production demonstrates the

importance of ceramics in everyday life, with a wide range of

vases for visitors to admire. Seeing the ‘enigmatic tablets’ takes

you far away: “a true language, which took shape at a European

level”, explains the archaeologist, “perhaps a system of tesserae

hospitales (hospitality tablets)”.

Trade was certainly carried out here, as evidenced by the presence

of amber from the Baltic Sea, bronze, copper alloy, and tin from the

Alps and Central Europe. A cross-shaped piece of earthenware,

on close examination, depicts a series of huts reflected in the

water. The exhibits illustrate each village activity: eating and

drinking, with cookware and storage items, “decorated with white

stone from Monte Moscal, ground up and mixed with water to

make a paste” as the Honorary Inspector explains. The wearing of

jewellery - amber beads, bracelets and earrings. Farming the land

and hunting: Mario Parolotti has reproduced a hypothetical sickle

handle with elements made from flint. Spinning, weaving, cooking.

There are beautiful glass artifacts, including a blown glass bottle,

green-tinted opal with a frosted surface. Other exhibits come from

S. Andrea d’Incaffi (Monte Moscal) and from Monte delle Bionde.

The hall devoted to the necropolis of Bossema (3rd-4th century

AD), showing two types of burial rites, is outstanding. Cremation:

burned bones can be seen here, along with ceramic jars,

unguentariums, and bronze coins. Interment: an intact skeleton is

laid between the walls of the tombs, with burial

recesses adorned with ollette (miniature jars)

made from glass. Then there is the villa rustica

which was located in Le Fontane, coins from La

Prà, the probable Rhaetian home at Monte delle

Bionde, the bracelet made from jet, also known

as black amber, and many other items besides.

On visiting the museum in Cavaion, it becomes

clear that this is not a “minor” museum; it is a

regional structure, compact in size, explanatory,

and emblematic of ancient evidence of an

area of great historical and archaeological

interest, with its own identity and distinct from

the lake, Monte Baldo and South Tyrol areas.

Behaglich, ordentlich, verwendbar, relational. Wenn das Kleine mit

dem Wichtigen übereinstimmt, stößt man unweigerlich auf das

Städtische Archäologische Museum von Cavaion, einer unter dem

Monte S. Michele alla Bastia, im Binnenland des Gardaseege-

biets liegende Gemeinde in der Provinz von Verona. In der Nacht

erstrahlt es wie eine zeitlose Weihnachtskrippe, wie die Aussicht

auf den See, die man von der Valsorda-Fahne in der Ortschaft

Ceriel hat.

ORT UND PERSÖNLICHKEITEN

Das Museum befindet sich im Kellergeschoss des Rathauses: ein

einziges Gebäude, ein einziger Standort für die Verwaltung und

Hervorhebung des Gebiets. Ein gutes Zeichen, I CARE.

Bei der Besichtigung gibt es zwei Sonderführer: der mit den Orts-

geschehnissen unlösbar verbundene Ehreninspektor der Soprin-

tendenza archeologica, cavaliere Mario Parolotti: Ihm sind die

Entdeckungen und Meldungen der Ausgrabungsstätten zu verdan-

ken, aus denen die Funde stammen. Und die junge Facharchäolo-

gin Chiara Reggio. Zwei Ausbildungen und zwei unterschiedliche

Generationen, die die Leidenschaft für die Archäologie verbindet.

Konservatorin ist Frau Dr. Alessandra Aspes, eine bekannte Ge-

lehrte der Vorgeschichte.

Alles begann 1980 mit der Entdeckung einer Siedlung aus der

alten und mittleren Bronzezeit (Ende des dritten, Anfang des zwei-

ten Jahrtausends v.Ch.) am kleinen See Cà Nova; die Fundstücke

bilden das erste Kernstück des zehn Jahre später eröffneten Mu-

seums, das die genauso wertvollen Reste einer römischen Nekro-

pole sowie weiterer Siedlungen von Cavaion und den angrenzen-

den Gebieten verwahrt.

ATMOSPHÄRE UND DETAILS

Die Ausstattung wurde anlässlich des 25-jährigen Jubiläums er-

neuert.

Der auf das Verständnis und die Didaktik ausgerichtete Eingangs-

bereich ist der Umwelt und der archäologischen Forschung gewid-

met. Hier befindet sich eines der interessantesten Stücke des

Museums: die römische Stele von Castagnar, ein Topos der Reise

des Verstorbenen in einem breiträdrigen Wagen mit einem Jungen

in Tunika.

Der erste Saal enthüllt das Leben des vorgeschichtlichen Dorfs,

das am Rande des kleinen Moränensees Cà Nova lag und eine

Blütezeit von etwa zweihundert Jahren erlebte. Die Tonherstellung

beweist mit den vielen bewundernswerten Vasen, wie wichtig im

Alltag die Keramik war. Der Anblick der rätselhaften Tafeln führt

den Besucher weit weg: Die Archäologin erklärt: „Es ist eine re-

gelrechte, europaweit formalisierte Sprache, vielleicht ein System

bestehend aus Erkennungszeichen“.

Dass man hier Handel trieb, zeigt sich auch daran, dass man aus

der Ostsee stammenden Bernstein sowie Bronze, Kupferlegierung

und Zinn aus den Alpen und Mitteleuropa fand. Eine kreuzförmige

Scherbe sollte man näher begutachten: Es zeigt die sich im Was-

ser widerspiegelnden Hütten! Die Funde erklären jede Tätigkeit im

Dorf: Zum Beispiel wie man aß und trank. Man fand Gegenstän-

de zum Kochen und Aufbewahren, die nach dem Ehreninspektor

mit weißem, gemahlenem und mit Wasser vermengtem Stein des

Monte Moscal, „dekoriert“ wurden. Und man schmückte sich mit

Bernsteinperlen, Armreifen und Ohrringen. Man bestellte den Ak-

kerboden und ging auf die Jagd: Mario Parolotti hat einen mög-

lichen Sichelgriff mit Kieselsteinelementen nachgebildet. Man

spann, webte, kochte. Zu sehen sind wunderschöne Glasmanu-

fakturen, darunter eine Flasche aus geblasenem, opalenem bis

grünlich schimmerndem Glas mit mattierter Oberfläche. Andere

Fundstücke stammen aus S. Andrea d’Incaffi (Monte Moscal) und

Monte delle Bionde.

Sehr effektvoll ist der Saal der Nekropole Bossema (3.-4. Jh.

n.Ch.) mit den Beisetzungen nach doppeltem Ritus. Was die Ein-

äscherung anbelangt, sind verbrannte Knochen und die Leichen-

ausstattung mit kleinen Keramikvasen, Balsamarien und Bronze-

münzen zu sehen. Und hinsichtlich der Bestattung gibt es das

zwischen den Grabwänden liegende intakte Skelett, während die

Grabnischen mit Glastöpfchen verziert sind. Und dann: die Villa

rustica in der Ortschaft Le Fontane, die Münzen von La Prà, das

wahrscheinliche Steinhaus in Monte delle Bionde, der Armreif aus

Gagat, auch Schwarzer Bernstein genannt…

Aus der Besichtigung wird ersichtlich, dass das Museum von

Cavaion kein zweitrangiges Museum ist. Es hat eine sehr star-

ke Bindung zum Gebiet und weist eine essentielle, erklären-

de und emblematische Dimension von antiken Zeugnissen

in einem archäologisch und geschichtlich sehr interessan-

ten Territorium auf. Es ist und unterscheidet sich vom Ge-

biet rund um den See, vom Monte Baldo und vom Etschtal.

Das Museum wurde 1990 dank der Zusammenarbeit zwischen

der Soprintendenza Archeologica del Veneto, dem Städtischen

Museum für Naturgeschichte von Verona und der Gemeinde Ca-

vaion eröffnet und steht unter der Leitung des Archäologischen

Verbands von Cavaion. Es ist sonntags von 9 bis 12 Uhr geöff-

Islanda: fuoco, ghiaccio, elfi e… Dante. Da Peschiera del Garda

all’Islanda. Forse, ma procediamo con ordine. Hvannadalshnukur

è la montagna magica per gli islandesi, la più alta del paese;

8.500 chilometri quadrati di ghiaccio circondano il massiccio, con

i suoi vulcani inattivi ma non spenti. Qui, narra la tradizione, vive

la progenie degli elfi, il popolo Huldulfolk. E sulla Kjelo Route, la

più antica strada d’Islanda, ci passò, forse, anche Dante.

DA PESCHIERA DEL GARDA ALL’ISLANDA

Così descrisse Peschiera del Garda nella Divina Commedia (In-

ferno, canto XX, vv.70-78): “ Siede Peschiera bello e forte arnese

/ da fronteggiar bresciani e bergamaschi / ove la riva intorno più

discese. (Peschiera, bel luogo fortificato e in grado di contrastare

gli attacchi di bresciani e bergamaschi, si trova sulla riva meridio-

nale del lago)/ Ivi convien che tutto caschi / ciò che ‘n grembo a

Benaco star non può/ e fassi fiume giù per verdi paschi. (Qui le

che rinverdisce le terre) / Tosto che l’acqua corre a metter co’ / non più Bena-

co, ma Mencio si chiama / fino a Governol dove cade in Po. (Appena l’acqua

inizia il corso verso valle, non si chiama più Benaco ma Mincio, che sfocia nel

Po, nei pressi di Governolo). Lo studioso Giancarlo Gianazza afferma che il

viaggio nell’aldilà della Divina Commedia ricalca il viaggio di Dante in Islanda.

Si sa che il Poeta condivideva con i Templari conoscenze occulte, trasmesse

ai posteri attraverso la Divina Commedia e perpetuate nei secoli in forma

criptica nelle opere, tra gli altri, di Botticelli, Leonardo e Raffaello. Decriptando

dati interpretabili come latitudine e longitudine, appaiono - secondo lo studio-

so - le coordinate dell’Islanda, con l’entrata nella selva oscura lungo il fiume

Jökulfall, fino all’incontro con Beatrice in un anfiteatro naturale dove sta una

pietra rettangolare: il seggio dell’amata. Qui sarebbe nascosto anche il tesoro

dei Templari.

VIAGGIO AL CENTRO DELLA TERRA

Lo stesso Giulio Verne collocò l’entrata del “Viaggio al centro della Terra” in

un vulcano sepolto dal ghiaccio, mentre la mitica Thule dei Greci e dei Romani

non sarebbe altro che l’Islanda.

Come sta scritto nel canto XXVIII del Purgatorio : “Perché ‘l turbar che sotto

da sé fanno/l’essalazion de l’acqua e de la terra,/che quanto posson dietro

al calor vanno”. Ecco le esalazioni dalle profondità: sembra proprio l’isola di

fuoco, acqua e terra, identica a milioni d’anni fa. Nere pietre vulcaniche, bian-

chi irruenti geyser, abbacinanti ghiacciai e imponenti cascate sono illuminati

finchè l’aurora boreale fa esplodere il cielo in mille colori.

Qui arrivano fotografi da tutto il mondo per ritrarre cascate, fumanti vapori,

muschi su roccia nera, fiori “alpini” e la Blue Lagoon: acque termali smeraldi-

ne fluttuanti in una conca di lava nera che alimentano una straordinaria SPA.

Non segnalato dalle guide, merita una sosta di meraviglia il Fjardargljufur,

un canyon di novemila anni fa: le pareti rocciose di cento metri sono state

modellate dal fiume sottostante, che scorre in profondità per due chilometri.

Spettacolare è la laguna glaciale di Jökulsàrlòn, dove gli iceberg staccatisi

dal ghiacciaio confluiscono in un moto perpetuo di scioglimento e ricongela-

mento, fino ad incanalarsi in un fiume e raggiungere l’oceano Atlantico. Tutto

scorre, tutto torna.

Iceland: fire, ice, elves and ...Dante. From Peschiera del Garda

to Iceland. Perhaps; but first things first. Hvannadalshnukur is

the magical mountain for Icelanders, the highest in the country;

8,500 square kilometres of ice surrounding the massif, with its

volcanoes which are inactive but not extinct. Here, according to

tradition, lives the progeny of the elves, the Huldulfolk people.

And perhaps even Dante walked along the Kjelo Route, Iceland’s

oldest street.

FROM PESCHIERA DEL GARDA TO ICELAND

This is how Peschiera del Garda was described in the Divine

Comedy [Inferno, canto XX, vv. 70-78]: “Siede Peschiera bello e

forte arnese / da fronteggiar bresciani e bergamaschi / ove la riva

intorno più discese. [Peschiera, the beautiful fortress, strong in

war against the Brescians and the Bergamese, sits at the lowest

point along that shore.]/ Ivi convien che tutto caschi / ciò che ‘n

grembo a Benaco star non può/ e fassi fiume giù per verdi paschi.

[There, the waters Benacus cannot hold within its bosom, spill and form a river

that winds away through pastures green and gold] / Tosto che l’acqua corre a

metter co’ / non più Benaco, ma Mencio si chiama / fino a Governol dove cade

in Po. [But once the water gathers its full flow, It is called Mincuis rather than

Benacus, From there to Governo, where it joins the Po.]. The scholar Giancarlo

Gianazza says that the journey into the afterlife as recounted in the Divine

Comedy follows Dante’s journey in Iceland. We know that the poet shared oc-

cult knowledge with the Templars, knowledge transmitted to posterity through

the Divine Comedy and perpetuated over the centuries in cryptic form in the

works of - among others - Botticelli, Leonardo and Raphael. Decrypting data

that can be interpreted, such as latitude and longitude, according to the

scholar, the coordinates of Iceland are revealed: with the entrance into the

shadowed forest along the Jökulfall River, up to the meeting with Beatrice in

a natural amphitheatre where there is a rectangular stone - the seat of his

beloved. The Templars’ treasure is also said to be concealed here.

JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH

Jules Verne himself set the entrance of “Journey to the centre of the Earth”

in a volcano buried by ice, while the mythical Thule of the Greeks and Romans

must indeed be Iceland.

As is written in canto XXVIII of Purgatory: “Perché ‘l turbar che sotto da sé

fanno/l’essalazion de l’acqua e de la terra,/che quanto posson dietro al calor

vanno”. [In order that the storms that form below / caused by the vapours

from the earth and sea /as they are drawn upwards to solar heat] These are

the vapours from the depths: it seems that the island of fire, water and earth,

is identical to that of millions of years ago. Black volcanic stones, impetuous

white geysers, dazzling glaciers and imposing waterfalls, are all lit up during

the summer months for almost 24 hours a day, and clothed in darkness for

just as long in the winter, except when the northern lights explode in the sky,

in a thousand different colours.

Photographers from all over the world come here to portray waterfalls, steam-

ing vapours, mosses on black rock, “alpine” flowers and the Blue Lagoon:

emerald-coloured thermal waters float in a hollow of black lava, feeding an ex-

traordinary spa. The Fjardargljufur is not a place you will be shown by guides;

but the 9,000-year-old canyon is worth a visit. You will stop to wonder at the

100 metre cliffs that have been shaped by the river below, which runs deep

for two kilometres. The glacial lagoon of Jökulsàrlòn is truly spectacular: here

the icebergs, detached from the glacier, flow in a perpetual motion of melting

and freezing, moving into a river and eventually reaching the Atlantic Ocean.

Everything flows, everything comes back.

Island: Feuer, Eis, Elfen und …Dante. Von Peschiera del

Garda nach Island. Vielleicht, aber gehen wir mit Ordnung vor.

Hvannadalshnúkur ist der Zauberberg der Isländer und zudem

der höchste des Landes; 8.500 Quadratkilometer Eis umgeben

das Gebirgsmassiv mit seinen untätigen, aber nicht erloschenen

Vulkanen. Der Tradition zufolge leben hier die Nachkommen der

Elfen, das Volk Huldufólk. Und den Hochlandweg Kjölur, die älteste

Straße Islands, bekam vielleicht auch Dante zu Gesicht.

VON PESCHIERA DEL GARDA NACH ISLAND

So beschrieb er in der Göttlichen Komödie (Hölle, XX. Gesang,

Verse 70-78) Peschiera del Garda: „Peschiera ragt ein schönes

starkes Bollwerk / Zu trotzen Bergamasken und Brescianern / Da

wo des Sees Umuferung niederer abfällt./ Von dort muss dann

hernieder strömen Alles / Was in Benacus Schoos nicht bleiben

dem Gelehrten Giancarlo Gianazza widerspiegelt die Reise ins

Jenseits in der Göttlichen Komödie eben Dantes Islandreise.

Man weiß, dass der Dichter mit den Templern Geheimkenntnisse

teilte, die über die Göttliche Komödie der Nachwelt überliefert

und im Laufe der Jahrhunderte in den Werken, unter anderem

von Botticelli, Leonardo und Raffaello in kryptischer Form zur

Anwendung kamen. Entschlüsselt man interpretierbare Daten

wie Breiten- und Längengrad, so kommen - nach dem Gelehrten

- die Koordinaten Islands zum Vorschein: vom dunklen Wald

am Fluss Jökulfall bis hin zur Begegnung mit Beatrice in einem

natürlichen Amphitheater, in dem ein rechteckiger Stein zu sehen

ist: der Thron der Geliebten. Hier soll sich auch der Tempelschatz

verstecken.

REISE ZUM MITTELPUNKT DER ERDE

Auch Jules Verne platzierte den Eingang seiner „Reise zum

Mittelpunkt der Erde“ in einem eisbedeckten Vulkan, während

das sagenumwobene Thule der Griechen und Römer in Wahrheit

nichts anderes sei als Island.

Genau wie es der 28. Gesang des Fegefeuers besagt: „Damit,

entqualmt dem Wasser und der Erden / Die Dünste, die der Hitze

nach, so weit / Es möglich ist, emporgezogen werden“. Und hier

die Exhalationen aus den Tiefen: Es scheint genau die Insel aus

Feuer, Wasser und Erde zu sein, die es vor Millionen Jahren gab.

Schwarzes Vulkangestein, ungestüme weiße Geysire, blendende

Gletscher und imposante Wasserfälle werden im Sommer nahezu

vierundzwanzig Stunden lang vom Licht erhellt und leben im

Winter für genauso viele Stunden im Dunkeln, bis das Nordlicht

den Himmel in tausend Farben erstrahlen lässt.

Hierher kommen Fotografen aus aller Welt, um Wasserfälle,

rauchende Dämpfe, Moos auf schwarzem Fels, „Alpenblumen“

und die Blue Lagoon zu fotografieren: eine Bucht aus schwarzer

Lava mit darin wogendem, smaragdgrünem Thermalwasser,

das ein außergewöhnlicher SPA versorgt. Obwohl er nicht in

den Reiseführern steht, ist der neuntausend Jahre alte Canyon

Fjardargljufur dennoch einen Zwischenstopp wert: Die hundert

Meter hohen Felswände wurden vom darunter fließenden, zwei

Kilometer langen Fluss geformt. Ein wahres Schauspiel ist die

Gletscherflusslagune Jökulsárlón, in der die sich vom Gletscher

losgelösten Eisberge in einem immerwährenden, durch Schmelzen

und Wiedergefrieren typischen Tanz zusammenlaufen, bis sie in

einen Fluss münden und den Atlantischen Ozean erreichen. Alles

fließt, alles kehrt zurück.

Lake Garda is an

outstanding training

ground for sailing regattas, with

the dual complicity of the deep

waters and the winds blowing in

all directions. The many sailing

clubs in this area promote

courses for children and adults,

with training fit for champions, as

evidenced by the latest

worldwide stars. Silvia Speri and

Alexandra Stalder are sailors

from Verona who, last December,

at the ages of 16 and 17

respectively, won a silver medal

at the Auckland Youth Sailing

World Championships in the

under 19 women’s 420 double-

handed category, greatly

contributing to placing Italy first

in the country rankings. This win

came just a few months after

claiming the title of Italian

Champions and achieving third

place in the Europeans. These

wins are a great source of pride

for the sailing clubs of Peschiera

and Bardolino to which they

belong, and for Malcesine, where

they train.

Festival: the Regina Adelaide

lakeside in Garda will host the

Italian Bodypainting

Championships, the most

colourful event of the year.

There are five categories in the

competition: Brush & Sponge,

Facepainting, Airbrushing,

Special Effects, and the all-new

category, Mixed Team.

The winners of the Amateur

category will also be announced,

for those just beginning to get

involved with this type of art.

The two themes chosen for the

2017 edition are: Kings and Queens for the first day and

Art will save the world for the

Fiori nella Rocca (‘Flowers in the

Fortress’), a gardening show that

will be hosted in the fifteenth-

century Fortress of Lonato del

Garda (Brescia), which has been

a national monument since

1912, and from within whose

walls you can enjoy an

enchanting view of Lake Garda.

In this tenth edition, visitors will

again have the opportunity to

cultivate their passion for

greenery and gardening, and at

the same time visit one of

Northern Italy’s major

fortifications, enlivened by

exhibitions, meetings, courses

and a series of activities

designed to entertain and amuse

children.

the event, the exhibition

will feature Italy’s most

important nurseries, growers

and researchers of rare trees,

including the best known

producers of herbaceous

perennials, roses, peonies,

scented-leaved pelargonium,

imperials and miniatures, iris,

lavender, clematis, aquatic

plants, succulents, tillandsias,

and ancient fruits. Beside these,

there are gazebos with outdoor

Other events taking place during

the show include the scenic

HOMEteatro is a theatre

project for private homes,

which will become a place to

meet, for friendship, beauty and

art. The actor and the play are

both focal points in a live theatre

experience, in the warm and

friendly atmosphere of the four

walls of the home. HOMEteatro is

therefore an alternative and

complementary opportunity,

compared to major events and

crowded rooms.

The show is followed by a

buffet, prepared as a joint effort

between the organisers and

those hosting the event at their

home. The host takes care of

their guests, welcoming them

with joy. Guests savour this

welcome, with curiosity and good

manners. The events take place

A Brescia, in prima

87 foto della mostra“Gesicht der

Zeit”, il tesoro dimenticato di

Magnum. La storia ha

dell’incredibile. Nel 2006, in una

cantina di Innsbruck a qualcuno

venne la voglia di capire cosa ci

fosse in un paio di casse

abbandonate, ricoperte da

polvere. Affiorò un tesoro: le

immagini di quella che fu la

prima mostra del gruppo

Magnum e che, con il titolo

“Gesicht der Zeit” (“La faccia del

tempo”), tra il giugno 1955 e il

febbraio 1956 era stata

proposta in cinque città

austriache. Magnum first si

compone di 83 stampe vintage

in bianco e nero accompagnate

da otto testi di fotografia

firmati da Henri Cartier-

Bresson, Marc Riboud, Inge

Morath, Jean Marquis, Werner

Bischof, Ernst Haas, Robert

Capa e Erich Lessing.

Vi compaiono immagini che

sono entrate nella storia della

fotografia. Come il reportage dal

Festival delle province basche

di Robert Capa o le immagini

della Dalmazia di Marc Riboud

o quelle tratte dal Photographic

Diary di Werner Bischof. Fanno

parte dell’immaginario collettivo

del ‘900, le 17 immagini scelte

da Henri Cartier-Bresson per

ricordare il funerale del Mahatma

Gandhi. Altri lembi del mondo,

così come lo avevano registrato

appena prima della mostra,

sono proposti da Ernst Haas “La

terra dei Faraoni”, 1954), da

decided to find out what was

inside a couple of abandoned

crates, covered with dust. And

this is how the discovery was

made: the pictures from what

was the first exhibition of the

Magnum group and which, with

the title “Gesicht der Zeit” (“Face

of Time”), were shown in five

Austrian cities between June

1955 and February 1956.

Magnum’s First consists of 83

black-and-white vintage prints

accompanied by eight

photography texts signed by

Henri Cartier-Bresson, Marc

Riboud, Inge Morath, Jean

Marquis, Werner Bischof, Ernst

Haas, Robert Capa and Erich

Lessing.

These are images that entered

into the history of photography.

Just like the photo feature from

the Festival of the Basque

country by Robert Capa, the

Dalmatian images by Marc

Riboud or those taken from the

Photographic Diary of Werner

Bischof. They are part of the

collective imagination of the

1900s, with 17 images selected

by Henri Cartier-Bresson to

mark the funeral of Mahatma

Gandhi. Different views of the

world, as they were recorded

just before the exhibition, are

offered by Ernst Haas with “Land

of the Pharaohs” (1954), by

Erich Lessing “Austria, Viennese

Children”, 1954, Jean Marquis

(Hungary, 1954) and Inge Morath

(London, Mayfair, 1954).

In Brescia wird zum ersten

Mal in Italien der

oltre cento dipinti selezionati,

provenienti da prestigiose

collezioni pubbliche e private,

permettono di compiere un

appassionante viaggio alla

scoperta dei massimi esponenti

del neoclassicismo, del

romanticismo, della

scapigliatura, dei macchiaioli e

del divisionismo, presentati per

la prima volta a Brescia in una

gioiosa sinfonia di luminose

atmosfere e squillanti tonalità. Il

percorso espositivo è inaugurato

da un celebre capolavoro di

Antonio Canova che incarna alla

perfezione i canoni dell’estetica

neoclassica: Amore e Psiche.

L’emozionante scultura dialoga

con le tele dei maggiori interpreti

del neoclassicismo tra cui

Andrea Appiani, pittore prediletto

da Napoleone, capace di evocare

nelle sue opere la sublime grazia

raffaellesca. La seconda sezione

dedicata al romanticismo ha

come protagonista il grande

Francesco Hayez che, con la

maestria del suo pennello, seppe

raggiungere vertici assoluti anche

in opere di ampio formato come

nella Maria Stuarda, capolavoro

di tre metri per due per

l’occasione giunto

eccezionalmente a Brescia.

Accanto ad altri significativi lavori

di Hayez sono esposti dipinti dei

principali pittori romantici tra cui

Piccio, la cui pittura vibrante e

aerea anticipò gli esiti dei

maestri della Scapigliatura a cui

è dedicata la terza sala, ricca

delle modernissime tele di

Tranquillo Cremona. Negli stessi

anni in cui a Milano si

affermavano gli scapigliati, a

Firenze si faceva largo un gruppo

di giovani e agguerriti artisti che,

per reagire alla stanca pittura

insegnata nelle accademie,

diede vita al movimento dei

macchiaioli capitanato da

Fattori, Lega e Signorini, autori

di memorabili capolavori che

trovano spazio nel piano

Proseguendo nel percorso, il

visitatore è prima sedotto dai

dipinti a soggetto orientalista che

riecheggiano le magiche luci e le

seducenti atmosfere del lontano

oriente, e poi dalle toccanti

scene di vita quotidiana

immortalate con pungente

realismo da Induno, Ciardi,

Favretto, Palizzi, Irolli, Milesi e dal

bresciano Angelo Inganni,

presente con diversi lavori tra cui

due splendide vedute di Piazza

Loggia. Aggiornati sulle novità

dell’impressionismo francese i

divisionisti elaborarono, invece,

un’innovativa tecnica pittorica

caratterizzata da intrecci di brevi

pennellate cariche di colore, che

trova la massima espressione

nelle tele cariche di significati

simbolici di Segantini, Pellizza

da Volpedo, Previati e Morbelli.

Infine, nell’ultima sezione viene

magicamente rievocato il

frizzante clima culturale della

Parigi Belle Époque, dove vissero

e lavorarono maestri del calibro

di Zandomeneghi, De Nittis,

Mancini e Boldini. Di

quest’ultimo, formidabile

anticipatore della modernità

novecentesca, sono esposti gli

scoppiettanti e dinamici ritratti

nei quali esaltò la sensuale

bellezza femminile, svelandone

l’anima più profonda e

misteriosa.

in art from the

seventeenth century to Warhol”

and “The Splendour of Venice”,

until 11th June 2017 Palazzo

Martinengo will host a major new

exhibition that recounts Italy’s

extraordinary artistic period

during the nineteenth century,

illustrating the currents and art

movements that flourished,

making the Italian art scene one

of the most dynamic and

glittering in the whole of Europe.

With over one hundred paintings

selected from prestigious public

and private collections, visitors

can embark on an exciting

journey to discover the greatest

exponents of Neoclassicism,

Romanticism, Scapigliatura, the

Macchiaioli and Divisionism,

presented for the first time in

Brescia in a joyous symphony of

bright atmospheres and vivid

tones. The exhibition will be

opened by a famous masterpiece

by Antonio Canova that perfectly

embodies the principles of

neoclassical aesthetics: Amore e

Psiche (Psyche Revived by

Cupid’s Kiss). The impassioned

sculpture interacts with the

paintings of the greatest

interpreters of Neoclassicism,

including Andrea Appiani,

Napoleon’s favourite painter, who

was able to evoke the sublime

elegance of Raphael in his works.

The second section, devoted to

Romanticism, features the great

Francesco Hayez who, with the

mastery of his brush was able to

reach great artistic achievements

even in large format works such

as his Mary Queen of Scots

being led to the scaffold, a

masterpiece measuring three

metres by two, which has been

brought to Brescia for this

special exhibition. Alongside

other significant works by Hayez

are several paintings by the

leading romantic artists,

including Piccio, whose vibrant

and aerial painting pre-empted

techniques of the masters of

Scapigliatura, who are featured

in the third room, with modern

paintings by Tranquillo Cremona.

In the same years during which

Milan produced the Scapigliati

(lit. “dishevelled”), in Florence

there was a group of young and

contentious artists who, in

reaction to the tired painting

taught in academies, established

the Macchiaioli movement led by

Fattori, Lega and Signorini,

creators of memorable

masterpieces which are located

on the mezzanine floor of the

building. Continuing along,

visitors are first seduced by

paintings depicting oriental

scenes, echoing the magical

lights and the seductive

atmosphere of the Far East, and

then by touching scenes of

everyday life immortalised with

pungent realism by Induno,

Ciardi, Favretto, Palizzi, Irolli,

Milesi and the Brescian painter

Angelo Inganni, several of whose

works are featured in the

exhibition, including two beautiful

views of Piazza Loggia. While

following with the latest progress

in French Impressionism, the

Divisionists, on the other hand,

developed an innovative painting

technique characterised by short,

interlacing brushstrokes full of

colour, a technique which finds

its maximum expression in

paintings full of symbolic

meanings, by Segantini, Pellizza

da Volpedo, Previati and

Morbelli. Finally, in the last

section the sparkling cultural

climate of Paris during the Belle

Époque is magically evoked; this

was the period of masters of the

calibre of Zandomeneghi, De

Nittis, Mancini and Boldini.

Boldini was a formidable

forerunner of 20th-century

modernity. In this exhibition,

some of his most spectacular

and dynamic portraits are

displayed, in which he exalted

sensuous feminine beauty,

revealing the soul at its deepest

and most mysterious.

Martinengo eine neue großartige

Ausstellung zu sehen, die dem

Publikum die außergewöhnliche

künstlerische Saison Italiens im

Laufe des 19. Jahrhunderts

schildert. Im Vordergrund stehen

die malerischen Strömungen und

Bewegungen, durch die das

italienische Kunstpanorama zu

einem der spritzigsten und

dynamischsten in Europa wurde.

Dank der über hundert

Gemälde, die aus prestigevollen

öffentlichen und privaten

Sammlungen stammen, begibt

sich der Besucher auf eine

spannende Reise, auf der er die

Spitzenvertreter des

Neoklassizismus, der Romantik,

der Scapigliatura, der Macchiaioli

und des Pointillismus entdeckt,

die erstmals in Brescia in einer

freudigen Symphonie strahlender

Atmosphären und schriller Töne

präsentiert werden. Der

Ausstellungsverlauf beginnt mit

einem berühmten Meisterwerk

von Antonio Canova, das die

Maßstäbe der neoklassizistischen

Ästhetik einwandfrei verkörpert:

Amor und Psyche. Die

ergreifende Skulptur leitet einen

Dialog mit den Gemälden der

größten Interpreten des

Neoklassizismus ein wie Andrea

Appiani, Napoleons

Lieblingsmaler, dem es gelang, in

seinen Werken die sublime

Anmut Raffaels zu evozieren. Der

zweite Abschnitt ist der Romantik

gewidmet und hat zum

Protagonisten den großen

Francesco Hayez, der mit der

Meisterhaftigkeit seines Pinsels

die absolute Spitze erreichte.

Dies gilt auch für großformatige

Werke wie Maria Stuart, ein drei

Meter großes Meisterwerk, das zu

diesem Anlass ausnahmsweise

nach Brescia gebracht wurde.

Neben anderen bedeutenden

Arbeiten von Hayez sind Gemälde

der Hauptvertreter der Romantik

exponiert, wie z.B. Piccio, dessen

vibrierende und luftige Malkunst

die Resultate der Meister der

Scapigliatura vorwegnahm,

denen der dritte Saal mit den

vielen hypermodernen Gemälden

von Tranquillo Cremona

gewidmet ist. In den Jahren, in

denen sich die Scapigliati in

Mailand behaupteten, bahnte

sich in Florenz eine Gruppe

junger, kämpferischer Künstler

den Weg, die zum Trotz gegen die

in den Akademien gelehrte müde

Malerei die Bewegung der

Macchiaioli unter der Leitung von

Fattori, Lega und Signorini ins

Leben riefen. Diese drei Künstler

schufen denkwürdige

Meisterwerke, die im

Halbgeschoss des Palazzo

ausgestellt sind. Setzt der

Besucher seinen Besuch fort, so

wird er zuerst von den Gemälden

mit orientalischem Sujet, die an

die magischen Lichter und die

betörenden Atmosphären des

Fernen Ostens erinnern, und

dann von den rührenden Bildern

aus dem Alltag verführt, die mit

stechend scharfer Sachlichkeit

von Induno, Ciardi, Favretto,

Palizzi, Irolli, Milesi und vom

Brescianer Angelo Inganni - mit

Höhepunkt mit den

symbolreichen Gemälden von

Parigi, fine Ottocento; la

vita bohémienne, gli artisti

di Montmartre, il Moulin Rouge, i

postriboli, i teatri, le prostitute.

Questa è la realtà che vive e

rappresenta Henri de Toulouse-

Lautrec (1864-1901),

diventandone il più noto

interprete.

Alto un metro e cinquantadue

- era affetto da una forma di

nanismo - e morto a meno

di 36 anni devastato dalla sifilide

e dall’alcolismo,

Toulouse-Lautrec divenne noto

soprattutto per i suoi manifesti

pubblicitari e i ritratti di

personaggi dell’epoca.

Sue sono le immagini, ben

impresse nell’immaginario

collettivo, del balletto al Moulin

Rouge e di Aristide Bruant e delle

discinte prostitute nelle maisons

closes (le case chiuse) in cui

aveva il suo atelier.

Dal 1° aprile una grande mostra

ad AMO-Palazzo Forti di Verona

celebra il percorso artistico di

Toulouse-Lautrec con 170 opere

provenienti dall’Herakleidon

Museum di Atene. Curata

da Stefano Zuffi, la mostra

è patrocinata dal Comune

di Verona ed è prodotta

Wirklichkeit, die Henri de

Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901)

erlebt, darstellt und zu deren

berühmtesten Interpreten wird.

Der 1,52 m große, zwergwüchsige

Toulouse-Lautrec, der von Alkohol

und Syphilis gezeichnet war und

starb, als er noch

keine 36 Jahre alt war, wurde

vor allem für seine Werbeplakate

und Portraits der Figuren der

damaligen Zeit berühmt. Von ihm

stammen die allseits bekannten

Bilder des

Balletts der Moulin Rouge und

Com’è buona la lavanda…in cucinatesto: Lorenzo Bazzoli

Una pianta dai molteplici usi, usata in

cosmesi o per dare un tocco di profumo

e colore alla casa. Ma avete mai provato a

usarla in cucina per esempio nel risotto o nei

muffin?

È una pianta officinale conosciuta fin dall’an-

tichità per le sue numerose proprietà curative

e per l’inebriante fragranza. Se la regione fran-

cese della Provenza è caratterizzata dall’in-

tenso colore e profumo dei campi di lavanda,

da alcuni anni anche le colline moreniche bre-

sciane la ospitano con successo. Il microclima

della zona gardesana permette alla pianta di

crescere a partire dal mese di maggio per poi

essere raccolta nel periodo estivo.

La fine di giugno e l’inizio di luglio, quando la

pianta raggiunge la massima fioritura, è infatti

il periodo ideale per la raccolta della lavan-

da. Si tratta di un evento radicato nella cultura

contadina.

Il simbolo della Provenza,è ora di casa anche

sul Garda ,il profumo del bucato fatto a mano,

il colore tenue dei suoi fiori. La forza della

lavanda è nella sua poliedricità. Pianta orna-

mentale, della famiglia delle Lamiaceae, ha

un colore violaceo e l’infiorescenza a spiga.

Si usa in mille modi: per profumare ambienti

e vestiti, nei prodotti per la casa, per l’igiene

personale, per proteggersi dalle zanzare e an-

che in cucina

Un fiore dalle mille proprietà medicinali ed

estetiche che può essere usato anche in cu-

cina, nella preparazione di dessert (albicocche

e pesche profumate dai fiori lavanda possono

essere cotte in padella o farne marmellate),

per profumare in modo delicato il miele e dol-

cificare poi i dolci al cucchiaio ed il gelato, e

anche spolverizzata sulla carne alla griglia. I

fiori di lavanda raccolti durante la fioritura e

essiccati si utilizzano come erba aromatica

soprattutto per ricette dolci, ma anche salate.

Aromatizzano biscotti dolci e salati, crostate,

cheesecake, piatti di pasta e ricette a base

di formaggio.Per chi ama cimentarsi ai fornel-

li la lavanda sa offrire grandi soddisfazioni.

Un grande classico è il risotto alla lavanda.

Si può preparare in due modi: con il brodo di

verdura aromatizzato con due spighe fiorite di

lavanda oppure con un trito di foglie di lavan-

da (senza fiori), rosmarino e scalogno soffritto

in una noce di burro di panna fresca. Molto

saporito invece lo stinco in fiori di lavanda ap-

poggiato su un letto di carote. Per i più golosi

largo ai muffin ai fiori di lavanda e rosmarino,

con farina integrale di frumento e zucchero di

canna. Una pausa dolce ma naturale

Anche le foglie di lavanda essiccate si posso-

no usare come erba aromatica, anzi il loro aro-

ma molto più delicato di quello intenso dei fiori

è più adatto alla preparazione di ricette salate

cui i fiori potrebbero risultare un ingrediente

eccessivamente profumato. Provatele nelle

Frittelle della luna delle erbe con lavanda, uno

snack veloce e gustoso.

Una ricetta di crostata di lavanda profumata al

limone, marmellata di pesche e lavanda:

ingredienti:

2 tuorli,200 gr di FARINA INTEGRALE MO-

LINO CHIAVAZZA,80 gr di zucchero di can-

na,90 gr di burro,2 cucchiaini rasi di fiori

di lavanda.PER LA CREMA: 1 uovo 180 gr

di zucchero,50 gr di fecola,250 ml di ac-

qua,250 ml di latte il succo di 2 limoni piccoli

buccia di 1 limone.

Preparazione:

Preparare la frolla impastando tutti gli ingre-

dienti e far riposare per qualche ora in frigo.

Nel frattempo preparare la crema stemperan-

do la fecola in acqua tiepida.

Unire tutti gli altri ingredienti e mescolando far

cuocere a bagnomaria fino a che la crema non

si addensa.Fare raffreddare leggermente do-

podiche’ mettere nel guscio di frolla.

Sulla superficie...aggiungere qualche fiore di

lavanda...

Infornare per 30/35 minuti a 180 gradi.

Marmellata di pesche e lavanda

ingredienti:

1,2 kg di pesche gialle, pesate già puli-

te,450 g di zucchero, 1 bicchiere d’acqua

- 1 cucchiaino di fiorellini di lavanda

Preparazione:

Pulire le pesche, tagliarle a tocchetti e met-

terle in una casseruola insieme ad un bicchie-

re d’acqua, cuocere le pesche 10-15 minuti,

A truly multi-use plant used in cosmetics

or to give a touch of scent and colour to

the home. But have you ever tried to use it in

the kitchen, for example in a risotto or in muf-

fins?

Lavender is a medicinal plant, which has been

recognised since ancient times for its many

healing properties as well as its heady fra-

grance. Just as the French region of Provence

is characterised by the intense colour and

scent of lavender fields, for some years the

Brescian morainic hills have also successful-

ly hosted this plant. The microclimate of the

Garda area allows the plant to grow from May,

ready for harvesting during the summer.

Late June and early July, when the plant is in

full bloom, is the ideal time to harvest laven-

der. This is an event rooted in farming culture.

The symbol of Provence is now also at home

around Lake Garda; the smell of laundry

washed by hand, the faint colour of its flowers.

The strength of lavender lies in its versatility.

An ornamental plant of the Lamiaceae family,

it is purplish in colour and has a spiky inflo-

rescence. It is used in many ways: for perfum-

ing rooms and clothes, household products,

for personal care, to protect against mosqui-

toes and also in the kitchen.

The flower has many medicinal and aesthetic

properties, and can also be used in the kitch-

en, in the preparation of desserts (apricots

and peaches scented with lavender flowers

can be cooked in a frying pan or used to make

jams); to perfume delicate honey and sweeten

desserts and ice cream, and it can even be

sprinkled onto grilled meat. Lavender flowers

collected during flowering and then dried are

used as an aromatic herb, mainly for dessert

recipes, but also in savoury dishes. They can

add flavour to sweet and savoury biscuits,

tarts, cheesecakes, pasta dishes and cheese-

based recipes. For those who love to experi-

ment in the kitchen, lavender can offer great

satisfaction. A great classic is risotto with

lavender. This can be prepared in two ways:

with vegetable broth flavoured with two flow-

ering spikes of lavender, or with chopped lav-

ender leaves (without flowers), rosemary and

shallots sautéed with a knob of fresh butter

cream. Another tasty dish is shin with laven-

der flowers, resting on a bed of carrots. For

those with a sweet tooth, lavender blossom

and rosemary muffins with wholewheat flour

and brown sugar are sure to hit the spot. A

sweet but natural treat.

Dried lavender leaves can also be used as an

aromatic herb; indeed, they have a more deli-

cate aroma than the flowers, and are therefore

more suitable for preparing savoury recipes

for which flowers may be an overly perfumed

ingredient. Try them in Herb moon fritters with

lavender, for a quick and tasty snack.

Or why not try this lemon tart recipe with

scented lavender, peach jam and lavender:

Ingredients:

2 egg yolks, 200g Molino Chiavazza whole-

wheat flour, 80g cane sugar, 90g butter, 2 tea-

spoons of lavender flowers.

For the cream: 1 egg, 180g sugar, 50g starch,

250ml water, 250ml milk, the juice of 2 small

lemons zest of 1 lemon.

Method:

Prepare the pastry by mixing all the ingredi-

ents together and letting the mixture sit for

a few hours in the fridge.

In the meantime prepare the cream, mixing

the starch with lukewarm water.

Combine all other ingredients and cook in a

bain-marie, stirring until the cream thickens.

Allow to cool slightly then place the mixture

in pastry shell. Add a few lavender flowers

to the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes at 180

degrees.

Peach jam and lavender

Ingredients:

1.2kg of yellow peaches, thoroughly washed;

450g sugar, 1 glass of water

-1 teaspoon of lavender flowers

Method:Wash the peaches, cut them into

chunks and put them in a saucepan with a

glass of water. Cook for 10-15 minutes, until

the peaches become soft. Remove from the

heat, blend with a hand blender, then put them

back on the heat, add the sugar and cook over

a medium-low heat, skimming as needed, until

the jam reaches the right consistency.

Once ready, pour the hot jam into pre-sterilised

jars, close immediately and turn upside down.

Eine vielseitig nutzbare Pflanze, ob in der

Kosmetik oder als Duft oder Farbtupfer zu-

hause. Haben Sie aber jemals Lavendel in der

Küche verwendet, z.B. im Risotto oder in Muffins?

Es ist eine Heilpflanze, die bereits in der Anti-

ke für ihre zahlreichen pflegenden Eigenschaf-

ten und für ihren betörenden Duft bekannt war.

Merkmale der französischen Region Provence

sind der intensive Farbton und der Duft der La-

vendelfelder. Doch diese sind jedoch seit eini-

gen Jahren auch auf den Moränenhügeln der Pro-

vinz Brescia in all ihrer Pracht vorzufinden. Durch

das Mikroklima des Gardaseegebietes kann die

Pflanze bereits im Mai zu wachsen beginnen, um

somit im Sommer geerntet zu werden.

Ende Juni, Anfang Juli - nämlich dann, wenn die

Pflanze ihre volle Blütenpracht erreicht - ist in

der Tat die ideale Zeit für die Lavendelernte, die

ein in der Bauernkultur fest verwurzeltes Ereig-

nis darstellt.

Lavendel, das Symbol der Provence, der Duft

handgewaschener Wäsche und die zarte Farbe

seiner Blüten ist nun auch am Gardasee zu-

hause. Die Kraft des Lavendels liegt in seiner

Vielseitigkeit. Es ist eine Zierpflanze aus der

Familie der Lippenblütler; die Farbe ist violett

und die Blüten sind ährenförmig angeordnet.

Lavendel ist auf tausenderlei Arten und Wei-

sen verwendbar: als Parfüm für Räume und

Kleidung, in den Haushaltsreinigern, als Kör-

perhygiene, Schutz vor Stechmücken und auch

in der Küche.

Eine Blüte mit tausenderlei heilenden und äs-

thetischen Eigenschaften, die jedoch auch in

der Küche einsetzbar ist, z.B. bei der Zube-

reitung von Nachspeisen (mit duftigen Laven-

delblüten veredelte Aprikosen und Pfirsiche

können in der Pfanne zubereitet oder zu Mar-

meladen verarbeitet werden), um dem Honig

einen Hauch von Lavendelduft zu geben und

dann Löffeldesserts und Eis zu versüßen, oder

auch auf Grillfleisch bestreut. Die in der Blüte-

zeit geernteten und getrockneten Lavendelblü-

ten sind auch als Aromakräuter vor allem für

süße, aber auch salzige Rezepte einsetzbar.

Sie würzen süße und salzige Kekse, Mürbe-

teigkuchen, Käsekuchen, Nudelgerichte und

Käserezepte. Für die Kochfans wird Lavendel

viel Freude und Genugtuung schenken. Ein

großer Klassiker ist Lavendelrisotto. Dieses

Gericht kann auf zweierlei Arten zubereitet wer-

den: mit zwei Lavendelblütenähren aromati-

sierte Gemüsebrühe oder mit fein gehackten

Lavendelblättern (ohne Blüten), Rosmarin und

Schalotte, in etwas Sahnebutter angebraten.

Sehr schmackhaft ist dagegen Schweinshaxe

in Lavendelblüten auf Karottenbeet. Für die

Naschkatzen gibt es Muffins mit Lavendelblü-

ten und Rosmarin, mit Vollkornmehl und Rohr-

zucker. Eine süße, aber natürliche Pause.

Als Würzkräuter sind auch die getrockneten

Lavendelblätter verwendbar, wobei ihr Aroma

weitaus milder ist als das der Blüten. Die Blät-

ter eignen sich somit viel besser für die Zube-

reitung salziger Rezepte, in denen die Blüten

eine zu stark duftende Zutat sein können. Pro-

bieren Sie sie in den kleinen Kräutermondp-

fannkuchen mit Lavendel, die ein schneller

Ein Rezept für Lavendelkuchen mit dem Duft

der Zitronen, Pfirsich- und Lavendelmarmelade:

Zutaten:

2 Eigelb, 200 g VOLLKORNMEHL MOLINO CHI-

AVAZZA, 80 g Rohrzucker, 90 g Butter, 2 gestri-

chene Teelöffel Lavendelblüten.

Für die creme:

1 Ei, 180 g Zucker, 50 g Stärkemehl, 250 ml

Wasser, 250 ml Milch, Saft 2 kleiner Zitronen

Schale 1 Zitronen.

Zubereitung:

Den Mürbeteig zubereiten, indem alle Zutaten

miteinander vermengt werden. Einige Stunden

im Kühlschrank ruhen lassen.

In der Zwischenzeit die Creme zubereiten:

Stärkemehl in lauwarmem Wasser auflösen.

Die anderen Zutaten dazugeben und im Was-

serbad kochen, dabei ständig rühren, bis die

Creme dickflüssig wird. Etwas abkühlen lassen

und anschließend in die Mürbeteigschale ge-

ben. Einige Lavendelblüten darauf streuen...

Bei 180 Grad 30/35 Minuten lang backen.

La Funivia di Malcesine presenta il suo

ingresso nel mondo del turismo eque-

stre. Si tratta delle tre nuove ippostrade che

sono state individuate e tracciate sul Baldo e

che sono le prime in Italia ad arrivare oltre i

2.000 metri collegando due diverse regioni: il

Veneto e il Trentino.

La particolarità delle tre ippostrade baldensi –

circa 110 kilometri - è quella di essere fra le

poche a presentare dislivelli di percorso fra i

più vari con la possibilità di passare attraver-

so paesaggi completamente diversi tra loro.

Particolarità consentita dalla singolare confor-

mazione del monte Baldo e dalla ricca varietà

di flora e fauna. I cavalieri di ogni età e capaci-

tà possono infatti percorrere le ippostrade che

sono state disegnate in quota, percorrendo

tutto il crinale montuoso.

Ecco il dettaglio dei percorsi

Il percorso numero 1/blu è “Monte Altissimo

di Nago”, si parte da Prà Alpesina (1.102 me-

tri) e si arriva fino ai 2.059 metri del rifugio

Damiano Chiesa sull’Altissimo in Trentino.

Sono 30,5 km che rappresentano il massimo

dell’immersione nella natura del Monte Baldo,

attraverso panorami mozzafiato del lago di

Garda visto dall’alto, il Gruppo del Brenta, la

Presanella e l’Adamello.

Il percorso numero 2/rosso è “Madonna del-

la neve”, si parte dalla località omonima a

984 metri e si arriva alla quota massima di

1.538 metri di malga Attilone. Sono 31,5 km

anche in questo caso a cavallo fra le province

di Verona e Trento e si cavalca fra marmotte,

camosci e aquile. Lungo questo percorso si

possono vedere anche le trincee di Navene,

che sono l’antico confine fra il Regno d’Italia e

l’Impero Austro-Ungarico.

Il percorso numero 3/verde è “Malga Ime”, si

parte da 359 metri in località Gaon a Caprino

veronese e si arriva a 1.367 di malga Colonei

di Pesina. Sono 46,2 km con un paesaggio in

costante mutazione e da cui si possono vede-

re, oltre ai panorami del lago e del Baldo, an-

che il Sacrario del Monte Baldo fatto costruire

per ricordare tutti i veronesi morti nelle varie

guerre, l’Orto Botanico e l’Osservatorio astro-

nomico di Novezzina.

L’aspetto comune dei tre percorsi è che si trat-

ta di anelli circolari in collegamento tra loro e

che possono condurre alla stazione di vetta

della funivia di Malcesine, a Tratto Spino, da

dove si gode del miglior panorama sul lago di

Garda e le dirimpettaie Dolomiti del Brenta.

Importante la collaborazione con Veronafiere

e la sua manifestazione Fiera Cavalli perché

rappresenta la miglior vetrina al mondo per

affacciarsi nel mondo equestre. Partendo da

300 metri si può salire fino a oltre 2.000.

È la più alta ippostrada del Veneto e presto

all’App della funivia verranno aggiunti anche i

percorsi a cavallo, oltre agli itinerari escursio-

nistici già presenti. In questo modo sarà più

semplice per gli utenti godersi l’escursione,

come succede già per altri sport. La Funivia

di Malcesine trasporta 500 mila passeggeri

l’anno per altri tipi di turismi: escursionistico,

alpinistico, ciclistico e parapendio. Finora non

c’erano gli appassionati del cavallo, che sono

grandi estimatori della natura e per i quali il

Baldo può diventare meta ideale. Ampliando

l’offerta turistica a questo modo, la Funivia si

conferma volano economico, continuando la

sua politica di aggregazione sinergica con altre

realtà del territorio.

Horse-riding routes at high altitude on Monte Baldo:text: Francesco Simoni

The Malcesine Cable Car has entered

the world of equestrian tourism. These

are the three new horse-riding routes that have

been identified and marked out on Monte Bal-

do, and which are the first in Italy to reach alti-

tudes of over 2,000 metres, connecting two

different regions: Veneto and Trentino.

The distinctive feature of the three horse-

riding routes of Monte Baldo – which are about

110 kilometres long in total - is that they are

among the few with such great differences in

altitude, passing through the most variety of

landscapes. This is due to the characteristic

structure of Monte Baldo itself, and the rich

variety of flora and fauna found in this area.

Riders of all ages and abilities can enjoy the

riding routes that have been marked out at

altitude, passing over the whole mountain

ridge.

Here are the details of the routes

Route number 1/blue is “Monte Altissimo

di Nago”. It starts from Prà Alpesina (1,102

metres high) and reaches an altitude of 2,059

metres at the Damiano Chiesa mountain hut

on Monte Altissimo in Trentino. The 30.5km

route allows visitors to completely immerse

themselves in the natural surroundings of

Monte Baldo, with breathtaking views of Lake

Garda as seen from above, and the Brenta

Group, Presanella and Adamello.

the cable car of Malcesine, at Tratto Spino,

from where you can enjoy the best views of

Lake Garda and the Dolomites of Brenta facing

one another.

The collaboration with Veronfiere and its

exhibition Fiera Cavalli is important, as it is

the best horse fair showcase for those wishing

to be involved in the world of equestrianism.

Starting from 300 metres, you can climb to

altitudes of over 2,000m. It is the highest horse-

riding route of the Veneto region, and soon the

cable car App will feature the equestrian trails,

in addition to the existing trails. This will make

it easier for users to enjoy their excursion, in

the same way as other sports already enjoy

Wanderreiten auf Höhenwegen des Monte Baldotext: Francesco Simoni

Die Seilbahn Malcesine präsentiert ih-

ren Eintritt in das Universum der Wander-

reiter. Es handelt sich dabei um die drei neuen

Reitwege, die auf dem Monte Baldo angelegt

und trassiert wurden und die ersten sind, die

in Italien eine Höhe von über 2.000 m errei-

chen und zwei unterschiedliche Regionen mit-

einander verbinden: Venetien und Trentino.

Die Besonderheit dieser drei, etwa 110 km

langen Reitwege des Monte Baldo ist, dass

sie zusammen mit wenig anderen Routen

äußerst vielseitige Höhenunterschiede auf-

weisen, wobei man untereinander völlig un-

terschiedliche Landschaften durchqueren

kann. Diese Besonderheit wird durch die ein-

zigartige Beschaffenheit des Monte Baldo und

durch die üppige Vielfalt der Flora und Fauna

ermöglicht. In der Tat können die Reiter aller

Alters- und Kapazitätsstufen auf den ange-

legten Höhenwegen wandern und dabei den

Gebirgskamm erkunden.

Die Details der Routen

Die Route Nummer 1/blau heißt „Monte

Altissimo di Nago“. Von Prà Alpesina (1.102

m) geht es bis zur 2.059 m hoch gelegenen

Hütte Damiano Chiesa auf dem Altissimo in

Trentino. Auf dieser 30,5 km langen Strecke

taucht man vollkommen ein in die Natur des

Monte Baldo und man hat einen atemberau-

benden Blick bis hinunter auf den Gardasee,

Gruppo del Brenta, Presanella und Adamello.

Die

Route Nummer 2/rot heißt „Madonna del-

la neve“. Von der gleichnamigen Ortschaft in

984 m Höhe geht es ganz hoch bis zur 1.538

m hoch gelegenen Almhütte Attilone. 31,5

km Länge, die auch in diesem Fall zwischen

den Provinzen Verona und Trient liegt und

den Reiter zwischen Murmeltiere, Gämse und

Adler führt. Auf dieser Strecke sind auch die

Schützengräben von Navene zu sehen: die alte

dem Österreich-Ungarischen Kaiserreich.

ser 46,2 km langen Strecke verändert sich

die Landschaft konstant. Neben der atembe-

raubenden Sicht auf den See und den Monte

Baldo erblickt man die Gedenkstätte des

Monte Baldo, die zum Gedenken an die in den

verschiedenen Kriegen gefallenen Veroneser

errichtet wurde, den botanischen Garten und

die Sternwarte von Novezzina.

miteinander verbunden und können den

Wanderreiter bis hinauf zur Gipfelstation der

Seilbahn Malcesine, zum Tratto Spino führen,

von wo man das beste Panorama auf den

Gardasee und die gegenüberliegenden Brenta-

Dolomiten hat.

Wichtig ist hierbei die Zusammenarbeit mit

dem Messebetreiber Veronfiere und seiner

Pferdemesse, da diese das weltweit beste

Schaufenster ist, um sich dem Reituniversum

zu zeigen. Von 300 m kann man bis hinauf

auf über 2.000 m steigen. Es ist der höchs-

te Reitweg Venetiens und bald werden der

Seilbahn-App neben den bereits vorhandenen

Wanderrouten auch die Reitwege hinzugefügt.

Dadurch wird es für die Wanderer einfacher

sein, die Wanderung zu genießen - genau wie

es bereits bei den anderen Sportarten der

Fall ist. Die Seilbahn Malcesine befördert

jährlich 500.000 Fahrgäste für andere Arten

von Tourismus: Wandern, Alpin, Radfahren

und Paragliding. Bisher gab es noch keine

Reitfans, die große Naturliebhaber sind und

für die der Monte Baldo zu einem idealen

Ausflugsziel werden kann. Durch den Ausbau

des Fremdenverkehrsangebots auf dieses

Universum bestätigt sich die Seilbahn als öko-

nomisches Schwungrad und setzt dabei die

Politik der synergetischen Aggregation mit an-

deren Realitäten des Gebietes fort.
