สถตคดอาชญากรรมไมไดเพมขนถงแมไมมโทษ

ประหารชวตแลวกตาม นนหมายความวา โทษ

ประหารชวตไมเกยวกบการเพมขนหรอลดลงของ

คดอาชญากรรมแตอยางใด

lsquoMusketeersrsquo is a young modern rock band

from Believe Records Entertainment who

also support respect for human rights

freedom of expression and abolition of the

death penalty ldquoNormally people see

human rights as something that is very far

from us In fact it lives with us all the time

but we just cannot see itrdquo they said ldquoMany

times we see others as lower than us and

treat them unequally we humiliate them

because we see that we are better than

them Later we will not discriminate against

others We just say that we are human

beings but we cannot distinguish ourselves

just because of our country No matter

what everyone is the same as us humans

We support abolition of the death penalty

People who are found guilty did not think

about capital punishment as their punish-

ment Research shows that in European

countries crime rates do not increase even

if they eliminate the death penalty There-

fore the death penalty does reduce the

number of crimesrdquo

เนองดวยวนท 10 ตลาคม ของทกป เปนวนยตโทษประหารชวตสากล ซงไดถก

ก าหนดขนตงแตเป 2546 โดยพนธมตรนานาชาตตอตานโทษประหารชวต (World

Coalition Against the Death Penalty)

แอมเนสต อนเตอรเนชนแนล รณรงคการยกเลกโทษประหารชวตมาตงแตป 2520

เนองจากการประหารชวตเปนการละเมดสทธมนษยชนขนพนฐาน อนไดแก สทธในการม

ชวต อกทงยงเปนการทรมานทงทางรางกายและจตใจ ซงเปนการละเมดตอนสญญา

วาดวยการตอตานการทรมาน ซงรฐไทยไดรวมเปนภาค นอกจากนนโทษประหาร

ชวตยงถกน ามาใชกบคนยากจนและกลมคนทดอยโอกาสในสงคมมากกวารอยละ 80

อกทงกระบวนการยตธรรมยงคงมความเสยงในการตดสนทผดพลาดสงผลใหผบรสทธ

จ านวนมากทวโลกถกจองจ า และทส าคญโทษประหารชวตไมไดสงผลใหอาชญกรรม

ลดลงแตอยางใด

จากการณรงคอยางตอเนองและเขมขนของแอมเนสต อนเตอรเนชนแนล สงผลใหประเทศ

ตางๆ ทวโลกจ านวน 140 ประเทศ ยกเลกโทษประหารชวตไมวาในทางกฎหมายหรอ

ในทางปฏบตไปแลว โดยส าหรบประเทศไทยนน แอมเนสต อนเตอรเนชนแนล ประเทศไทย

ไดท าการรณรงคยตการใชโทษประหารชวตอยางเขมขนและตอเนองตลอดปทผานมา

เพอเปนการหนนเสรมรณรงคยตโทษประหารชวต แอมเนสต อนเตอรเนชนแนล ประเทศ

ไทย รวมกบ กรมคมครองสทธและเสรภาพ กระทรวงยตธรรม และสถาบนเกอเธ จด

กจกรรมสปดาหภาพยนตรสทธมนษยชน ตอน ldquoเทศกาลหนงมชวตrdquo มก าหนดจด

ขนใน 4 จงหวด คอ กรงเทพฯ เชยงใหม มหาสารคามและปตตาน เพอน าเสนอมมมอง

อกดานหนงเกยวกบความรนแรงหลากหลายรปแบบในสงคม ความผดพลาดทอาจ

เกดขนไดในกระบวนการยตธรรมและความเชอมโยงระหวางชะตากรรมของนกโทษ

The World Day Against the Death Penalty was first launched in 2003

by the Coalition Against the Death Penalty and has been held on 10

October every year since then

Amnesty International started its campaign against the death penalty

in 1977 The death penalty is a violation of fundamental human

rights as laid down in Articles 3 and 5 of the Universal Declaration of

Human Rights the right to life and the right not to be tortured or

subject to any cruel inhuman or degrading punishment The death

penalty is also a violation of the Convention Against Torture and other

Cruel Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment to which

Thailand acceded in 2007 In addition over 80 of death sentences

have been handed down to the poor and the underprivileged Errors

in the criminal justice system may also result in many innocent

people being sentenced More importantly the death penalty has no

unique deterrent effect on crime

As a result of our continued and intensive actions more than 140

countries across the world have abolished the death penalty either

legally or in practice In Thailand Amnesty International Thailand has

intensively and consistently advocated the abolition of the death

penalty

As part of this ongoing action Amnesty International Thailand

together with the Rights and Liberties Protection Department

Ministry of Justice and the Goethe Institute will organize a Human

Rights Film Series lsquoMovies for Lifersquo in Bangkok Chiang Mai

Mahasarakham and Pattani The objective of the event is to present

another aspect of violence in society wrongful convictions and

criminal justice system errors Posters giving facts about the death

penalty lsquoDeath is not Justicersquo from poster for tomorrow the main

project of 4tomorrow an independent non-profit organisation based

in Paris will also be exhibited at the venue
