  • HAVERWeigher Electronics MEC III

    Data Processing System DPS V4.1

    HAVER & BOECKER

  • The MEC III results from the con-tinuous development of the 6thgeneration of HAVER electronicweighers. Up to now, more than12,000 electronic weighers areused worldwide on HAVER fillingmachines.

The MEC III is a PTB approvedelectronic measurement device thatcan be calibrated and has a resolu-tion of 6000 increments. It may beoperated as multi-range or multi-division weigher with three diffe-rent increment settings. The zero-setting is done via a dia-log and may be securely storedagainst power outages. In addition to the weighing func-tions, the MEC III controls machi-ne functions via digital inputs andoutputs. The operation and display of allfunctions is done through an exter-nal control terminal.

This terminal has a contrast gra-phic display for showing all opera-tional situations such as: weight values weigher settings dialogs

The computer unit is modularlydesigned. It consists of an operatingunit, keypad, display and the controlunit. The operating unit is easilyaccessible and is built into a switchcabinet door, while the control unitmodule is placed inside the switchcabinet. All electrical connections tothe modules are plug-in type, whichmakes exchanging components aneasy task, even for non-specialists.

  • The DPS 4.1 data processingsystem is a program for collec-ting, reporting and recordingprocess data that can be read andstored over the serial interfaces ofa PC using the Windows 95, 98 orNT 4.0 and Windows 2000 opera-ting systems. Data from HAVERweigher control systems or serversfor ROTO-Packers and their checkweighers are collected. Up to eightpacking lines can be processed andadministrated simultaneously usinga PC equipped with the appropriateinterface equipment.

The dialog language is selectablefrom a menu.

The following data may becollected: line number, weighernumber, sort designation, actualweight, specified weight, tareweight, overweight limit, under-weight limit, sort changeover, errormessages, weigher status and plaintext messages.

From this data, the followingvalues are reported: meanweight, standard deviation, totalweight, total bag count, number ofgood bags, underweight bags andoverweight bags, hourly bag pro-

duction, information about chargestart and charge stop time.

Reports such as machine reports, daily, weekly, monthly and yearlyreports, error reports and singleweight reports may be printed out. From a single weight report, aweighing diagram or a Gaussiandistribution curve can be genera-ted.

The packing line can be shown in atotal of 8 different statistics windo-ws. Here, every packing line maybe assigned to a statistics window,or more than one line may beassigned in groups to a statisticswindow.

For every statistics window thereare 15 data columns for inputssuch as actual weight, of which 7are visible on screen. The operator

150 bytes of memory capacity are needed perdata set for one filled bag. That means datafor 40 million filled bags can be stored on ahard disk with 6 GB of available memory. The data sets are entered into a dBase so thatthey may be further read and processed bymost user programs such as Excel.
