transnational IT company.
An immense knowledge base and technology leadership are the keys to HCLs
ability to provide total IT solutions.
HCL started operations primarily as a hardware company when IT in India was
in a nascent stage. There were few Indian vendors then and HCL had theadvantage of positioning itself as the local hardware vendor. This meant that
the user was comfortable dealing with a local company, thus the comfort level
of users increased manifold while dealing with HCL. HCL understood the
market well, whereas MNC vendors were not so comfortable doing business in
Indian conditions and did not understand the psyche of the Indian user. Thus,
1

HCL was able to expand channels at a much faster rate and increased
penetration.
Due to inherent knowledge about India, HCL was able to penetrate deep into
the government sector and tap most of the IT spending coming from various
government departments. HCL was flexible enough in pricing, its sales model
and terms and conditions, which added to the comfort of its clients. Sales
teams at HCL have always been highly objective-driven and focused on
numbers. Every month/quarter they measure the performance of our managers
by the number of times they have met the customers face-to-face.
Whether its software, hardware, training, networking, telecom, peripherals or
system integration, HCL has an answer for all your IT needsthanks to its
pool of competencies. The company also has skills in the areas of hardware, and services extend from product designing to prototyping, manufacturing and
support. Specialization in designing custom-made solutions for companies
includes application development for client/server environments, legacy
system maintenance and re-engineering, migration, systems redevelopment,
onsite and offshore software services, and facilities management.
Computer-based education using advanced learning methodology has training
on offer for novices as well as professionals, in IT and non-IT areas. A
dedicated independent vendor channel for the entire Indian mass market helps
bring technology usage closer to the individual. The group specializes in
consumer-oriented, globally applicable solutions for end-users in
manufacturing banking and financial services, and the telecom segment
,beside being a total solution provider for technology-based communication
services through satellite communication, radio communication,
local area networks as well as broad band communication. HCL has played a
major role in creating IT awareness in the country and in creating a verycompetitive environment for growth of the IT industry. The biggest
contribution of HCL in developing the Indian IT market is in terms of
introducing newer technologies and creating a market for them through
education and creation of awareness.

Worldwide OfficesBy being locally incorporated in each country, HCL is able to serve customersas a local business, with all attendant benefits. It is also a tax-paying citizen, conforming to all local lawsand with a significant global workforce. We
believe that every part of the world has different ways of doing business and, therefore, unless we make the investment of becoming a local player, the movefrom being a mere vendor to a value-creating partner would be a difficulttransition.

DECIDING THE ADVANTAGEOUS FACTOR IN INDUSTRY
Once we understand the mechanism of the market we wish to compete, next
step is to decide how to make the best use of our potential advantages. The
1

enterprise must decide how to position itself so as to achieve sustainable
competitive advantage
GENERIC STRATEGIES MATRIX
This matrix permits to choose a marketing stance within one of the four boxes
which are made available within the two dimensions of the competitiveadvantage and competitive scope.
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
A lower cost strategy is based on the pursuit of cost leadership n a given
industry through exploitation of lower input costs , greater efficiency and that
comes from undertaking a succession of projects in a variety of operating
environments.
The traditional emphasis on price competition through differentiation does not
necessarily mean that clients are obtaining the best possible deals as a result
comprehensive marketing strategy has been increased as a result of growing
demand for informational technology
1
8/7/2019 prshant
32/67
Competitive scope
According to Porter extends the positioning concept in to the second
dimension by adding further variable which he describes as competitive scope.
An example of the choice of competitive scope in information technology is
the decision whether to take full responsibility for projects as marketer in
either case there will be further choice between pursuing competitive
advantage through lower cost or differentiation

RESEARCH DESIGN
The research was design in such a way that all the probable customers and the
potential buyers can be covered during the research so as to get the accurate
information and feedback from the respondents.
The research was divided in the following phrases:-
1) The respondents were segmented.
1
8/7/2019 prshant
50/67
2) The target customer was identified and approached.
3) Questionnaires were filled by the respondents.
4) Information analyzed and decoded.
5) Conclusion Drawn
For the research I used the exploratory research .
Exploratory research is a initial research conducted to clarify and define thenature of the problem. Exploratory research provides insights into andcomprehension of an issue or situation. It should draw definitive conclusionsonly with extreme caution. Exploratory research is a type of Research conducted because a problem has not been clearly defined. Exploratoryresearch helps determine the best research design, data collection method andselection of subjects. Given its fundamental nature, exploratory research often
concludes that a perceived problem does not actually exist.Exploratory research is a useful preliminary step that helps ensure that a morerigorous, more conclusive.
Sampling DesignFor collection of samples out of whole universe, I have selected judgmentalsampling and simple random sampling. Now I would like to define what is
judgment or purposive sampling.Judgment/purposive samplingIt is a no probability sampling technique in which an experienced individual
selects the sample based upon some appropriate characteristic of the samplemembers, during the canopy setup I used this type of sampling.I have mentioned this type of sampling because, I have to collect informationfrom the person having same characteristics like:-
A person should below 25 years.
Looks like a student.
Simple random sampling
It is a type of sampling in which each element of population has equal chanceof getting selected. During door-to door and data collection I used this type of sampling.
Sources of dataThe data inputs mainly taken from one-to-one interaction , door-to-door,canopy, through HCL professionals and through secondary sources likeinternet etc.

Constraints Faced
1
8/7/2019 prshant
60/67
During the period of the training I have gone through with manyconstraints such as:
Municipal bodies are not allowing in setting up our canopy as per the required location.
To convince the students of under-graduation and 12 th pass outwhich was quite impossible to attract because 12 th student was waitingfor result and undergraduates are not willing to join two courses at atime..
We hardly able to found single person in between 1 to 5 p.m.
People are not giving their correct information, because theyhave fear that after giving their information the HCL CDC calling
person make frequent calls on their phone number.
My other team member was not so energetic, they are notconcerned for their training due to which I faced so many problems.
Sometimes respondents do not give a response or give partialresponse. It is called non response error. The reason may be lack of knowledge or unwillingness to answer.
Overall Experience
I have been under the marketing executive of HCL CDC, and performing the
same tasks which has to perform by all the fresher recruited person have to perform in HCL CDC.I was under the marketing department of HCL CDC, here my job was to createawareness and increase walk-ins for the centre by the help of various tools of marketing, major work which I have to perform was:-
Collection of data.
Calling to the data collected.
Canopy setup.
Door-to-door activity. House calls.
Seminars.
If the centre located in a market area, then it would be very easy to collectdatabase as well as walk-ins to the centre.

My work can be in better manner if they provide me a feasible opportunity toearn some handsome incentive.
Apart from that so many other related aspects of marketing, without whom no business cant survive for a long period of time.
I have learned various aspects of organization and marketing like:-
Likewise food, clothing, shelter is the basic need of a man, assame as regular growth and brand awareness is the basic need of anorganization to achieve growth in market over a long period of time.
Customers perception and thinking are different from eachother, so we have to sell and convince them according to the individual
need. Team work plays a crucial role in an organization.
Company just want result otherwise you are fired.
How to handle pressure.
Action without planning and strategy always goes againstyou.
Promotional activities plays a vital role in organization.
We cant recognize our customer easily, they can be in anyface or appearance.
In marketing we always have to be innovative and active.
The overall learning and experience will surely help me in my future as I will be aware of certain things of organizational behavior, marketing management, customer relationship etc.By the help of this training I will not be new for any organization, as I caneasily cope up with internal as well as external environment of the company. This training gives me the taste of corporate sector that how we can survive inthis competitive environment which is necessary to understand.
