The past 10 years of SUBCON have witnessed a fast-changing industry. As a result, the Thailand Board of Investment

(BOI) has joined forces with UBM Asia (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the Alliance For Supporting Industries Association (A.S.I.A),

and the Federation of Thai Industries to present “Innovation Showcase” which features medical and aircraft parts at SUBCON

Thailand 2016 including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and artificial organs for humans, all of which have been Thais

produced. The Seminar and other related activities about medical and aircraft parts and the manufacturing industry will

On January 22, the Thailand Board of Investment

led by Ms. Sonklin Ploymee, BOI BUILD Director

of the Unit for Industrial Linkage Development, in

collaboration with UBM Asia (Thailand), Mr. Sanchai

Noombunnam, Group Project Director, co-organized

a seminar of business opportunities for Japanese

investors in Thailand and the ASEAN market. The

seminar was based around the topic ‘SUBCON

Thailand 2016 Gateway to ASEAN’ and held at the

Chamber of Commerce, Osaka City, Japan.

The overall objective was to invite SME investors

from Japan who were interested in investing in

Thailand and ASEAN to attend and participate in

Business-matching event at SUBCON Thailand 2016.

Mr. Narucha Ruchupan, Director, Thailand Board of

Investment Office at Osaka, Japan provided information

on investment promotion policies. Mr. Viroj Sirithana,

President of the Alliance For Supporting Industries

Association, also took part in the seminar which was

attended by entrepreneurs from 40 companies from

Osaka and nearby cities. Many entrepreneurs

expressed interest in attending SUBCON Thailand

2016.

On 16-18, March the Thailand Board of

Investment (BOI), Alliance for Supporting

Industries Association (A.S.I.A) and UBM Asia

(Thailand) embarked on a business trip to invite

business operators in the Industrial Parts industry

from Myanmar to participate in the event.

Ms. Sonklin Ploymee, Director of BOI Unit for

Industrial Linkage Development, and Mr. Viroj

Sirithanasart, President of A.S.I.A., joined the trip,

which was welcomed by more than 60 business

operators who showed their keen interest by

participating in the event. This year aims to create

further business cooperation between manufacturers

Powering the Growth

The Asia Pacific region is expected to take

delivery of 12,820 new airplanes in the next 20

years or nearly as many aircraft as North America

and Europe combined. By 2031, an estimated

32% of global airline passenger traffic is expected

to exist in Asia Pacific. Beijing Capital International

Airport, the world’s second busies, already

witnessed 81 million passengers pass its gates

in 2012, up from 27 million a decade earlier.

Consequently, the rapid development of air transport

infrastructure in Asia Pacific is being carried out to

accommodate the expected increase in demand.

China alone plans to build 100 airports in the next

two years, with most of these airports used for

domestic travel. Beijing Capital took 32 months to

build, compared to six years to build London’s

Heathrow Terminal 5. China’s expected economic

growth and rising number of high net worth

individuals is also percolating demand for business

jet; the country’s business jet inventory rose 40%

to 326% in 2012 and one estimate puts deliveries

hitting 10,000% by 2021.
