1、Topology

2、Preparation

1) Connect A100 POTS port with SUT’s FAX port.

2) Check Dial Tone, Ringback Tone of the SUT, both frequency and on/off time, change the

configuration according to these tones in “SUT/Call progress”.

3) A PC, to setup Abacus GUI.

3、Configuration

1. Open Abacus GUI, then synchronous firmware to SC.

2. Protocol Selection configuration

3. Channels configuration

4. Partition and Timing configuration

5. Start test

6. Check performance statistics

1) Open Abacus GUI, then synchronous firmware to SC.

2) Open Configure/Protocol selection window

Normally, default parameters can be used to do test, but please pay attention to below notes.

a. When test with Caller ID, “Loop Start with CID” should be chosen.

b. When attenuation of analog circuit is severe, try to enlarge the “Gain A->D” .

c. When “Complex Impedance” is needed to test, choose corresponding impedance.

d. Optional: Useless post port can be disabled, circuit 1-25 correspond to interface 1 on the back

bone of A100, 26-50 correspond to interface 2, and so on. For below case, circuits 1-10 are disabled, so

in Partition and Timing widow, channel 1 corresponds to circuit 11.

3) Open Configure/Channels window.

a. Path confirm panel, it is used to configure path confirm type, when test voice quality, you

should choose “Advanced/QoM”

One note, for test one way delay, you should enable one way delay as follow.

In “Channels/Path Confirm/Advanced”, “One way delay” should be checked, then one way

delay will be showed in Variances.

b. Tones panel, use default, unless “No dial tone” error reported in events, try to enlarge the

detection range and tone bandwidth.

c. Terminate Subs panel, configure some behavior of called party, use default normally.

d. QoM window, normally use default configuration. Threshold can be configured here, when

test value is less than the threshold, error will be reported in the events.

4) Open Configure/Partition and Timing window

a. Association panel, configure callers and callees and links.

b. Timing panel, to configure call length and call interval.

c. Scripts panel, to configure caller and callee’s script.

d. Protocols panel, usually default, unless for Fax or Modem, corresponding protocol need

to be configured ( in channels/path confirm/advance, Fax/Data should be chosen as well)

e. Phones & Endpoints panel, to configure phone number of caller and callee.

5) Click “Start” to run test.

6) Check test statistics.

a. Statistic shows the number of calls, CPS and call loss.

b. Variances show test results.

For checked “one way delay”, you will see below variances.
