If the idea sounds either boring(imagine her poring over contracts)or stressful (dealing with law-suits)on the other hand it will give

her the chance to help other artistsand performers get good and fairdeals. Its likewise a nice opportunityfor her to understand the side of con-cert promoters.

When that time comes she will seewhy, for instance, her recent three-night series of shows, mounted byMegaworld, was almost cancelled.

According to a source, there was mis-understanding over money matters,

which fortunately was settled in thenick of time.

    However, the agreement for

Charice to do full-length shows hadto be revised; instead of performing10 or more songs, she only sang five.

The gigs were part of a five-leg

Asian tour to promote the 18-year-old Filipina international singers self-titled US debut album on WarnerMusic.

The first show, held Thursdaynight at the Newport Plaza of ResortsWorld Manila, attracted an SROcrowd, which spilled over the 800-ca-pacity venue.

High spiritsCharice was in high spirits, match-

ing the upbeat tempo of the openingnumber, I Love You (a track from heralbum), with energetic vocals amid

    snappy stage moves with fourdancers.

A cover of Beyonces Halo fol-lowedthe songs spiritual-inspira-tional bent serving as prelude to asong Charice personally dedicated toher audience: In This Song.

The tune, co-written for Chariceby her album producer and musicalmentor David Foster, captured theconfidence-building scenario whichthe singer is currently engaged in,and had enough musical bombast to

win over first-time listeners.Although she had to perform the

albums first single Pyramid alone(the original studio version is a duet

with Virgin Islands singer Iyaz),Charice was never at a loss; she evencomfortably filled in for Iyazs rapparts.

For the finale she did a lightheart-ed cover of Justin Biebers Baby, as

well as a short medley of hits by Mi-ley Cyrus and other teenage popstars.

    By Pocholo Concepcion

WHEN THE INQUIRER asked Charice on Thursdaywhether she has indeed set her mind on becoming alawyer, the teenage pop star said yesalthough that

plan wont really take her away from show biz. Thats becauseshe wants to be an entertainment lawyer.
