The Hispanic/Latino family
In Hispanic culture, the extended family is very important
Grandparents often live in the same house as parents and children, or very close by
Families often place the needs of the family over individual concerns
Generally, Hispanic children learn to show great respect for authority, the patriarchal family structure, and extended family members
Families are characterized by a deep sense of responsibility, rigid gender roles, and great respect for the elderly
Families prioritize marriage, and children having married parents
